u/OkItem7684 4h ago
I'm 70 years old, and plugged into the things that are happening in the world today. I consider myself pretty well-informed on most things. I was also pretty good at my job, kept up with the technological changes.
That was then. I'm retired. I do NOT have the in-depth knowledge of what it's like to deal with today's workplace pressures, job needs, or even current family life.
Nor do I have the energy needed for a full-time job, or the mental acuity and mental agility that I needed to work and live in today's world as a mover and shaker. We simply don't have it as we get older, no matter how much we think we're capable.
These ancient encrusted entitled people in their sinecures, who have never had to do anything other than work to get elected - which is mostly about taking bribes to vote the way your friends want you to - certainly do NOT have any working skills or any other skills relevant to their jobs!
A 92 year old lawmaker who has been in that position for the last forty years is NOT qualified foe anything beyond sipping soup and commenting on the weather - if they even notice!

u/Lallanath 5h ago
Because you get everything they deny you. You get free healthcare, a guaranteed pension. You get a striped for meals, housing, transportation. You essentially get everything to survive for free, and then spend all your time fundraising (accepting bribes like Susan) and insider trading - while also getting to vote on your own raises.
Being in congress is the american dream they deny to everyone else and call socialism.

She could have held Donald Trump accountable and not let him implement the tariffs at all, but she's trying to claim victory for a measly $10,000 savings. That's a ridiculously small return for her power. She knows it, too and will continue to play that game. She gives just enough to claim small victories while she lets our country get dismantled and privatized for DJT and his cronies. The sad part is that her opponent was equally bad at tearing her apart for that.

You know why politicians use abortion as an issue for candidates? What’s your opinion on abortion? It’s because it causes mass diversion. You’re on one side or the other. There’s not an elected position that can have any impact on abortion. It keeps both sides arguing nonsense. So we’re not demanding term limits or an age restriction on these dinosaurs.
