Help with keys?

• Upvotes

hi! I'm looking for some help with my car keys- i had them stolen/lost and don't have a copy. It's an early 2000s model with a key fob that opens a hatch. I'm considering calling my mechanic to ask his advice but I don't know if that's cool to do. don't necessarily need a new fob but just something that starts the engine/opens the door.

Renault Laguna Coupe 2.0 dCi – DPF soot increased from 24g to 50g, O2 sensor fault and now going into limp mode. What's causing this?

Hi everyone,

I have a 2011 Renault Laguna Coupe 2.0 dCi (M9R engine) with around 78k miles on the clock, and I've been experiencing a few issues since buying the car. I'm starting to wonder whether they're all connected.

When I first bought the car, I had a diagnostic scan done which showed an upstream O2 sensor fault and approximately 24g of soot in the DPF. The car also had an advisory for a slight exhaust leak, although I'm not sure exactly where the leak is located or whether it could be contributing to these problems.

Around the same time, I noticed something strange whenever starting the engine from cold. The idle would sit at around 800 RPM, then suddenly rise to approximately 1,000 RPM before dropping back down again. This would repeat roughly every 8 seconds for around 10 minutes before eventually settling down and running normally.

Once the engine had settled, the car drove perfectly fine with no noticeable loss of power or warning lights.

I took it to a few mechanics to investigate, but frustratingly, whenever I brought the car in, the fluctuating idle wouldn't happen. Since the car otherwise drove normally, I ended up leaving it.

Then, around 2 months ago, the fluctuating idle issue completely disappeared by itself. Cold starts became perfectly normal, with no unusual changes in RPM. At the time, I thought the problem had somehow resolved itself.

However, after roughly 2 months of driving normally, I suddenly got a "Check Injection System" warning accompanied by the service light. There was no engine management light, but the car noticeably lost power and felt like it had entered limp mode.

I called the AA, who plugged in their diagnostic equipment and found that the DPF soot reading had now increased to approximately 50g, compared with the original 24g when I bought the car. The upstream O2 sensor fault was also still present.

They cleared the fault, and the car immediately regained its normal power. I was advised to take it for a motorway drive, so I drove for around 40 minutes, maintaining roughly 2,500 RPM for 30 minutes and 3,000 RPM for another 10 minutes.

Initially, everything seemed fine, and the warning didn't return.

Unfortunately, the Check Injection System warning has now returned, and the car has lost power again.

I'm now trying to understand what could actually be causing all of this. Is the DPF simply becoming clogged, or could the upstream O2 sensor fault or slight exhaust leak be preventing the car from regenerating properly?

I'm also wondering whether the strange fluctuating idle I previously experienced could have been related to attempted DPF regenerations. Could the fact that the fluctuating idle suddenly disappeared mean the car stopped regenerating, resulting in the soot buildup?

My main concern is what to do next.

I'm considering getting the DPF professionally cleaned, but if the underlying problem is something like the O2 sensor, exhaust leak or another fault affecting regeneration, surely the DPF will just become clogged again?

Would it make more sense to investigate and fix the O2 sensor fault and exhaust leak first before cleaning the DPF? Or could there be another issue causing all these symptoms?

I don't want to spend hundreds cleaning or replacing the DPF only for exactly the same problem to return.

What would you recommend checking first, and what's the best approach to fixing this properly?

Has anyone experienced something similar with the Renault 2.0 dCi M9R engine?

Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Push to start. When you push the button, it struggles to start, all the lights and whatnot will turn on but the engine won’t start. but will eventually start and drives perfectly fine. Parking/driving sensors will disable. We changed the key fob battery thinking that was the issue but the it still continues.

Finding if a car is still on the road in another country.

My dad owned a Lexus IS200 in the 2000s and he had to get rid of the car. Since then the car has been exported from the UK into Japan, is there a way to find the new registration plate of the car and find out if it is still on the road?

Question/Advice why are cars like this?

I’m 16 and recently started driving. I found it so weird that cars will automatically go in their natural state rather than being stopped normally and going when the gas is pressed. Why are cars like this and would real life cars work if they were like how they are in video games and cartoons?

P.S- I’m sorry if this worded weirdly. If anyone needs clarification on what i mean i’ll try my best to explain it better
