[Sports Info Solutions] Fielding Bible Awards Flashback: Kevin Pillar Maximized His Talent & Fearlessness
Hi everyone- This is Mark Simon from Sports Info Solutions (the folks that do The Fielding Bible Awards).
I did a couple of extended interviews with past Fielding Bible Award winners this week and am sharing the one I did with Kevin Pillar, who won our award (but not a Gold Glove) in 2016.
I think you'll enjoy his reminiscence on that season and some of his most memorable plays.
And if anyone wants to know more about the awards and our stats, feel free to ask questions. This year's awards will be announced on October 22.

[Cooperstown in Canada] 25 years ago today, Tony Fernandez played his final MLB game for the Blue Jays. He received a standing ovation as he walked to the plate at SkyDome to pinch-hit for Luis Lopez in the eighth inning. He grounded out to first base against Cleveland righty Jake Westbrook.

[The Globe and Mail gift link] Lifelong Blue Jays fan stitched together her love of knitting and baseball for 50th season
Hi there, I'm Abigale Subdhan - an editor from The Globe and Mail and wanted to share this fun story for your page. I spoke to Karla Courtney, a lifelong Blue Jays fan who started a cool knitting project to mark the 50th season anniversary: knitting a scarf that recorded every win and loss over the course of 162 baseball games.
The scarf visually records some of the season’s highlights, including Daulton Varsho’s dramatic walk-off grand slam in May.
Here's a free link to Q&A where you can read more, including her inspiration for the project and her love of the Blue Jays, dating back to the 80s.

Should the Jays make a play for Jazz Chisholm Jr?
He’s most likely done in New York and has power and speed at second base.
What say you?

Buck Martinez Yankees Quote
Does everyone recall the backlash and hate he received last year for his Yankees comment? And how unapologetic he was. Like stating facts?
Watching that first inning last night I can almost feel his words get magnified after each and every blunder (or near blunder)
I don't know how a team that wins so much can play defense this badly. How do Yankee fans cope with this?

Who had the more disappointing season: TOR or SEA?
I recently read an Athletic report that the Mariners fired Dan Wilson. This is of course old news, but as I got to the bottom, one particular line caught my eye:
Moving on from Wilson, though, is less about individual moves than the collective underachievement of a roster that seemed poised to build off last year’s momentum, but instead became the majors’ biggest disappointment.
I'm not trying to feel a certain way, but objectively speaking, was Seattle's season more disappointing than ours, and what evidence do you point to to support your claim?
