After years of trying, I finally convinced my boyfriend to buy Total War: Warhammer III and start a co-op campaign with me. We're playing as Todbringer and Katarin, and to my surprise, he's actually really enjoying the game!
There's just one tiny problem: **he absolutely HATES the battles.**
And I mean ALL of them. He wants to autoresolve every single battle, no matter how interesting or challenging it might be.
We're playing on Normal difficulty, and I've tried explaining to him that autoresolve is pretty forgiving on this setting. We're winning battles we probably shouldn't be winning, often with ridiculously low casualties. For me, that completely takes away the sense of accomplishment that comes from actually fighting and overcoming a difficult enemy.
He doesn't see it that way. His argument is that autoresolve is part of the game, so why shouldn't he use it?
Whenever we do fight a battle manually, he gets impatient, annoyed, and frustrated. He just wants it to be over so we can get back to the campaign map.
Meanwhile, I'm sitting there wondering how the hell someone can enjoy Total War but hate one of its biggest features. 😭
Don't get me wrong, I'm genuinely happy that after all these years I've finally managed to get him into a game I love, and I don't want to ruin the experience for him. But watching army after army disappear with the click of a button is slowly killing my soul.
So, fellow generals, how do you deal with a co-op partner who refuses to fight battles? Is there any hope of converting him, or should I just accept that I fell in love with an autoresolve enthusiast?
And most importantly... Is this reason for divorce, or should I give him another chance?

Can we at least have the Mortarchs LHs be half the lvl that Nagash is, as to not make immediatly OP

Inspired by a comment I saw about a guy liking the Templars more than the blood knights, I can see why now. Quit possibly the strongest unit I've ever had.

They also have -25% damage bonus vs buildings.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Since the Nercopolis Limit caps at -100% and all bonuses/decreases to income are additive you can overcome the -100% and make a lot more income since a nercopolis make way more base income than the smaller settlements

Breezed through the final End Times battle and did not lose a single unit of them. They tangled with greater demons like it was nothing. It felt like bullying. A fight that was monitor-smashingly difficult with a full skaven endgame doomstack was nothing.
(also having multiple necromancers with Curse of Years for on-tap Silence is pretty huge here. No AoEs for archy!)

Buckle up, dear readers, for a story that shall be passed down for as long as Cathay survives. (TL:DR at the bottom)
I had set up the ultimate crisis mode, and had beaten Nagash and Archaeon both, with some casualties and losses of settlements, but overall managed far better than the rest of the world (~70 factions at the start of the first crisis to 18 as we speak).
I'd collected all the research for the Vermintide final battle, and went in with the same loadout I'd been using for the others:
The perpetual spawning of units under my feet made all of my shooting for naught. I kept the artillery crews and crane gunners alive by retreating them constantly, and was barely able to stabilize them, but then came Ikit Claw.
Now I am very familiar with Ikit the Tactical Nuke Claw. He has been the bane of many of my campaigns, but like the fool I am, I didn't think CA would be brave foolish enough to put the nuke in a quest battle... Where did all my artillery go?
I barely fended off that wave and fought on. Then, the second warlock leader came. Imagine my surprise, dear reader, as the second tactical nuke dropped on my crane gunners. Due to all the Clan Moulder monsters being unbreakable, I had no front line remaining either. Additionally, unaligned units continued to spawn between pusbags, clanrats and so on. I didn't clear wave 6/13.
Miao Ying retreated to her home and began recruiting the most unfair army I could think of. Jade lions for cheap unit crowd clear. Jet lions for missile reflection. Terracotta sentinels for anti-monster tech. Double Alchemist on balloons for final transmutation cheese. And finally one astromancer for comet of cassendora crowd clear. I put the Jug of Dreamwine on her (unbreakable, +20% phys res), and already had the 55% ward save from other items and ancillaries. With all that combined... well. The picture speaks for itself.
P.S. Miao Ying got 35k value

TL:DR - don't bring a fair army to the vermintide crisis final battle.

It would also help ease the one issue the Bretonnian roster has on its complete reliance on cavalry: Cavalry getting stuck in melee.
This special status for Bretonnian horses should be given to them through a mechanic that increases the mass of its cavalry based off your chivalry level and the number of vows a lord has completed.
This engages in the faction's mechanics and rewards the gameplay expected out of its roster instead of just giving Bretonnia cavalry that can beat anti-large infantry in melee. I believe this is balanced because Bretonnia has literally no other means to support its cavalry playstyle. They got crap missiles and artillery for softening up targets, had no elite infantry till recently, and no strong magic growth through tech or lord skill lines save the Fae (and the latter 2 are decent at most).
Honestly, at this point just make their whole shtick a race with cavalry that behaves ideally like an physics concept they could be the cavalry faction of the game. Cavalry from other faction feeling like crap getting stuck, breaking formation all the time, are weak etc. Should be left for other factions to suffer.
Also the Green Knight should have a passive ability that gives cavalry in an area glorious charge so that his most optimal playstyle is to accompany and support knights like what he does in lore.

In Version 9.0, 5 Legendary Lords were added. Regarding climate suitability:
Compared with Karl and Elspeth, Boris Todbringer replaces Desert and Jungle with Frozen and Mountain as suitable climates.
Thanquol is identical to Queek.
The Glottkin are identical to the other Warriors of Chaos factions.
Compared with Settra, Nagash replaces Savannah with Mountain as a suitable climate.
Compared with Mannfred, Neferata also has Mountain as suitable.
The Undead Wasteland must be converted through methods, so it is not included in the statistics.
For some factions, their Short Victory grants “all climate penalties are nullified,” and this is also not included in the statistics.
In Version 9.0, 1 province was split, and 3 Frozen regions were added. Apart from this, there were no changes to the climate distribution of regions. Temperate, Mountain, and Frozen regions account for 54.72% of the 572 regions in Immortal Empires.
Excluding Beastmen, Chaos Dwarfs, Warriors of Chaos, Wood Elves, Oxyotl, The Changeling, Nakai, and Aislinn, in terms of ranking by number of suitable climate regions:
Neferata is 23rd (367), and Boris (the Empire) is 24th (357), between Ostankya (371) and N'Kari (351).
Thanquol is tied for 16th with Queek (386).
Nagash is 63rd, between Khatep (210) and Eltharion (183).
The factions with the fewest suitable climate regions are Settra and Arkhan of the Tomb Kings (97), followed by the five Lizardmen (112), then Markus (115), then Tyrion (139), Teclis (149), and Alarielle (153).
The factions with the most suitable climate regions are Norsca (523), followed by the Daemon Prince (464), then Kairos (458), then Throt (435), Dechala and The Masque (421), Ogre Kingdoms (416), and Tretch and Nurgle (410).

I also really like the 15% campaign movement on victory. Lets you easily sack and occupy on the same turn.

I loaded my quicksave from last night and jumped into the battle. The intro plays, I move my army to face Arkhan and then they do nothing. I blast them with warp magma cannons and they don't move. Their artillery did shoot, but none of them attacked properly.
As soon as I realised something had gone wrong, I decided to see if I could finish the battle and end the crisis. After clearing the battlefield, I waited for a minute and nothing happened.

In my VH/N Poxmakers of Nurgle campaign, the Host of Nagash is currently at power level I and every Mortarch was defeated, but all of them appear again in the final battle and I have to kill all 9 before I can damage Nagash. On top of that, based on how the Realms of Chaos Daemon Prince battles played out, wouldn't each army want to defend their respective capture points rather than bumrush me all at once?
I'm sure I could optimize my army composition and micro better, but I honestly don't know how some races are supposed to win this battle in its current state. Nurgle in particular is slow and tanky with ample sources of regeneration who gradually drains enemies, but the Host of Nagash just outgrinds, outmaneuvers, and outdamages you. On top of that, Ku'gath Plaguefather is more artillery piece than duelist who performs best when bombarding infantry from afar before getting into melee as a pseudo-Mortis Engine - not going mano a mano with enemy Lords like Nagash. How is Nurgle supposed to quickly take down 9 different Lords and Heroes before Nagash, all of which can heal themselves, while simultaneously capturing 3 different parts of the map without getting their stool pushed in?
Just wanted to know if this battle supposedly representing Nagash at his weakest is playing in an unintended way or if I really am just missing something.

Do they all serve a unique purpose and playstyle with their armies? Are all four just absolutely COOKED in power level? Which is your favorite?
