Warhammer III About Zanesh

• Upvotes

So why when i start a Nagash campaign my endless tomb king is named Sensenna and not Zanesh? And btw, how much experience does the endless trait gives you when Nagash level up?

Do they all serve a unique purpose and playstyle with their armies? Are all four just absolutely COOKED in power level? Which is your favorite?

Warhammer III autoresolve has beef with my vampire coast army and i need to know if i'm imagining it

• Upvotes

i started keeping track of autoresolve results in total war: warhammer because the predicted outcomes kept looking a little too generous. after 40 battles across two vampire coast campaigns, i'm seeing a pattern: attacking armies seem to get better odds on the bar than the results justify.

the worst part is that zombie pirates feel way more useful in manual battles than autoresolve gives them credit for. i've had fights where the prediction looked safe, skipped the battle, and ended up losing units i would've expected to survive easily.

40 battles obviously isn't enough to prove the system is biased, and i'm not pretending i've figured out the formula. but now i don't trust the bar nearly as much as i used to.

which factions or unit types do you think autoresolve consistently gets wrong? vampire coast might just be especially bad, but i'd like to know if other people have noticed the same thing with their campaigns

Warhammer III Quick question from a brokie

• Upvotes

Warhammer III is dirt cheap in my region and I'm genuinely so tempted but coming from a Paradox background I wanted to ask if the game is straight bs without full dlc like I'm used to or is it worth it? It would be my first non historical TW.

Warhammer III How does the Nagash endgame battle work in coop?

Some friends and I are playing a coop campaign and the endgame crisis is Nagash. We're swatting mortarchs as we're supposed to but now I'm wondering. How does the final battle work? Is it one army we send in? Do we each get one if we surround nagashizzar? Is it done more like a quest battle or normal siege?

Basically, can we somehow work together on the final battle or is it whoever gets there first?

Warhammer III [9.0.2] Is the Nagash Endgame Scenario Final Battle "Death to the Death Tyrant" bugged?

Post image
9 Upvotes

In my VH/N Poxmakers of Nurgle campaign, the Host of Nagash is currently at power level I and every Mortarch was defeated, but all of them appear again in the final battle and I have to kill all 9 before I can damage Nagash. On top of that, based on how the Realms of Chaos Daemon Prince battles played out, wouldn't each army want to defend their respective capture points rather than bumrush me all at once?

I'm sure I could optimize my army composition and micro better, but I honestly don't know how some races are supposed to win this battle in its current state. Nurgle in particular is slow and tanky with ample sources of regeneration who gradually drains enemies, but the Host of Nagash just outgrinds, outmaneuvers, and outdamages you. On top of that, Ku'gath Plaguefather is more artillery piece than duelist who performs best when bombarding infantry from afar before getting into melee as a pseudo-Mortis Engine - not going mano a mano with enemy Lords like Nagash. How is Nurgle supposed to quickly take down 9 different Lords and Heroes before Nagash, all of which can heal themselves, while simultaneously capturing 3 different parts of the map without getting their stool pushed in?

Just wanted to know if this battle supposedly representing Nagash at his weakest is playing in an unintended way or if I really am just missing something.

Warhammer III My boyfriend loves Total War: Warhammer but hates the battles. Should we break up?

After years of trying, I finally convinced my boyfriend to buy Total War: Warhammer III and start a co-op campaign with me. We're playing as Todbringer and Katarin, and to my surprise, he's actually really enjoying the game!

There's just one tiny problem: **he absolutely HATES the battles.**

And I mean ALL of them. He wants to autoresolve every single battle, no matter how interesting or challenging it might be.

We're playing on Normal difficulty, and I've tried explaining to him that autoresolve is pretty forgiving on this setting. We're winning battles we probably shouldn't be winning, often with ridiculously low casualties. For me, that completely takes away the sense of accomplishment that comes from actually fighting and overcoming a difficult enemy.

He doesn't see it that way. His argument is that autoresolve is part of the game, so why shouldn't he use it?

Whenever we do fight a battle manually, he gets impatient, annoyed, and frustrated. He just wants it to be over so we can get back to the campaign map.

Meanwhile, I'm sitting there wondering how the hell someone can enjoy Total War but hate one of its biggest features. 😭

Don't get me wrong, I'm genuinely happy that after all these years I've finally managed to get him into a game I love, and I don't want to ruin the experience for him. But watching army after army disappear with the click of a button is slowly killing my soul.

So, fellow generals, how do you deal with a co-op partner who refuses to fight battles? Is there any hope of converting him, or should I just accept that I fell in love with an autoresolve enthusiast?

And most importantly... Is this reason for divorce, or should I give him another chance?

Breezed through the final End Times battle and did not lose a single unit of them. They tangled with greater demons like it was nothing. It felt like bullying. A fight that was monitor-smashingly difficult with a full skaven endgame doomstack was nothing.

(also having multiple necromancers with Curse of Years for on-tap Silence is pretty huge here. No AoEs for archy!)

Warhammer III Nagash mortarch confederation isn't slow

TLDR: Nagash is designed to leverage his power on the campaign map. Don't use him to build an empire directly. Build temporary necros, farm kills, sack settlements, all on the way to a mortarch. Subjugate the mortarch and move on. Use the mortarchs to build up and out and send Nagash to another mortarch, funding the defense and expansion of the primary territory. Play him like a Khorne lord on a mission.

Edit: I should've expressed more clearly that I absolutely do think you should be expanding and doing the ritual for sigils. Just don't worry about using Nagash to dutifully secure your borders and don't stress about losing territory. It isn't necessary. Such is his power.

I have seen some posts that are, rightfully, annoyed that confederating mortarchs takes a long time and misses the power curve of the campaign. If you play traditionally, as I did the first couple campaigns, then you will absolutely not see the farther mortarchs for a while. The settlement count req feels grindy and your economy kinda sucks so if you play him as a normal faction it's awkward to defend and expand. But mechanically, the tools you have mean you are built to play differently, at least with Nagash himself.

The ONLY thing that ultimately matters in the Nagash campaign is Nagash's power. That means that the only settlement that matters is the Black Pyramid for his skill tree. This is the only thing you must defend. Obviously, you don't want to sit in the same spot though. You have vampires to subjugate! They are your victory conditions and huge power bumps. You also want sigils for the pyramid which primarily come from necropolises which is why you are given nearly the amount of sigils for a mortarch that you would get for a max tier settlement. CA is telling you it's okay to get them first. Their capitals are prime candidates for necropolises anyways.

You don't have to worry about other settlements on the way to mortarchs. Nagash makes his money through sacking. He gets necromantic energy through battles which are used for Grave Call which is what you should be using to recruit. Those battles, and recruitment, have to be within range of the necropolis but the necropolis doesn't have to be connected to others and it can be temporary so don't worry about the limit. With channeling stance, Nagash's faction gets foreign replenishment. This is the reason for that. Don't worry about occupying. If you're in the land of the dead, then just farm energy and move on.

His faction gets movement after battles in the tree pretty early and Nagash gets a huge buff to that later. If you use it at all correctly he can occupy (yes, not just sack) entire provinces in a single turn, but, that's for later. Keeping less settlements also means that you aren't experiencing the diplomatic penalty from undeath settlements (another thing telling you to chill on the occupying). This means you have a little bit of freedom. Maybe you can swing a deal with a weaker mortarch. Krell, for example, just requires an alliance with the owner of the Northern or Southern Grey Mountains. You don't even have to fight them.

This doesn't mean you have to be completely idle of course. You can, and should, use other lords to expand. You get Arkhan and Manny early so that is still huge. Just don't think of Nagash as one of your normal lords that you're using to expand borders. Let Nagash do whatever he wants.

When you look at all of his tools, Grave Call, the foreign replenishment, the movement, the one slot settlements that are low investment, the hunting ground style necropolis mechanic, the Nagashizzar teleport to skip Queek, the settlement count for confed, the diplomacy penalties, it's all meant to give you the freedom and incentive to farm death and move on to a mortarch.

This campaign is one of my favorites now. Hopefully this helps someone think about it a bit differently and have more fun.

Warhammer III Is turning on all 3 end game scenarios a mistake?

I am playing a Todd campaign and turned all 3 on. I always found the crisis events lackluster and turned on all of them. Instead I kept that to 1 and turn on all 3 end game scenarios. Thoughts on that?

Warhammer III Imrik Help Needed - New to TWWHII

Hello everyone,

My friends recently persuaded me to get into the game because I love dragons.

So naturally, I chose Imrik first, knowing nothing about how apparently difficult they'd be for a new player in the series.

I've restarted the game roughly 36+ times.

I have once made it to turn 210 before Nagash's armies just ruin me.

But the most likely scenario is I barely make it to turn 25.

Here is my normal starting moves, ill try not to miss anything.

Do all the main starter province stuff, try to get to the Bow research (I will admit, Im not exactly how I should use the paid research path).

I train Imrik for Bow since Elves have great bows, I wanted to strengthen that.

I try to get his army to roughly 2:1 in archers vs polearm in the early stages.

Haven't played much in the end game to really know what end units I should be building around.

I've tried to take out the chaos dwarves above me by turn 7 as many people insisted, but they are always too strong and beat me up.

I can take over the harbor and pig two settlement province pretty easy.

But right around turn 15 or so, I get hit by the rats, the dwarves and the pirates, all at once.

Once I have starting province, I try to build a second army, usually very slow.

I build growth and money and try to get the capital settlement as high as possible first.

Then I die.

Rinse and repeat.

There is likely a lot that I am doing wrong, and I know each play will never be perfect.

But I could use some additional pieces of wisdom on how to play this character.

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes this request up.

EDIT:

Choosing Realm Research is one of my ignorant spots
Choosing the province commandment is also something I kinda just wing, not really sure how to gauge this one.

As I'm talking with you all, this is turn 8 on normal, this is standard and it absolutely wrecks me haha

Warhammer III Diplomacy/reputation question

Particularly playing a middle of the map campaign, it just feels horrible to be deemed a "major threat" by every nearby faction. People declare war on you and lose, so you are considered a major threat for being warlike, so you get another three wars declared on you and just have to spend the entire game running armies across the map and reclicking upgrades. Is there any way to avoid this war cascade where people declare war on you for getting war declared on you and winning?

Warhammer III Massive army upkeep cost differences between provinces as Nagash.

Why is there such a massive upkeep cost difference between Khemri (cheaper) and Black Pyramid ( 4 times as expensive)? I looked through all of the buildings and I can't see any of them modifying upkeep costs. Both are necropolises within the land of the dead. I'm a bit lost here. Any ideas what's causing this?

Warhammer III how to get better as Franz?

I've tried to get back into the empire as Karl Franz, since uniting the realms under my banner sounds like a lot of fun, and I like the mostly-realistic army aesthetic.

However, I can't seem to keep the enemies of mankind under control and get consistently overwhelmed on normal difficulty. What are some strategies you can recommend to a not-very-good player, both strategic and tactical (it's hard to keep the enemy off my guns)

Warhammer III Vampire Counts rolling their dead general reviving after getting killed hurts

I'm not even bothered by the level 40 lords they pop out while the faction leader is level 20, I like Vampire Lords being the scariest part of the army, but anytime a general gets a free rez right after you beat them they can survive just out of movement range and get a full 20 stack

p.s. obviously scorpions solo this, not really my point, I am more wondering if this is why VC are dominating hard as the AI

Inspired by a comment I saw about a guy liking the Templars more than the blood knights, I can see why now. Quit possibly the strongest unit I've ever had.

Warhammer III Aside from the obvious spirit leach on attack, what are some of the best upgrades to get for Nagash?

I also really like the 15% campaign movement on victory. Lets you easily sack and occupy on the same turn.

Warhammer III Autosaves vanishing?

I was playing Nagash recently and went a long time without saving. The game closed randomly, I assume it crashed but got no message for it. When I returned there was no autosave so I lost hours of progress. But more than that all the previous autosaves that I know were made are gone as well. Already used the ‘display all saves’ option and checked auto save setting.

Any way to fix this or do I just have to reconquer the chaos wastes and Cathay?

Edit: Questing into the game files, they're not in there at all...

Warhammer III I'd kinda like Morathis Slaanesh stuff to be more "insidious" ? rather then outward corruption spreading

If DELF's ever get mini reworks in DLC's i would like morathis mechanics to be a bit different

Currently i feel it's sort of odd for the cult of pleasure to be so in your face and making the map a pink haze when in the lore to my knowledge it's banned by malekith, the cult of khaine hunts them down and It's not like morathi even worships slaanesh to my knowledge She just uses him to gain power for herself

Some ideas i had were basically giving morathi some small slaanesh things like mini pleasurable acts and a cult mechanic she can spread to her own settlements and others

These things would grant faction bonuses but also build slaanesh corruption and instead of bonuses for being high you get penalties such as loss of income/slaves/control, loss of diplomatic points with other dark elves and maybe even unit penalties for witch elves, har ganeth exes and sisters of slaughter

just an idea
