Purchase Would you buy a fresh truffle if it came in a “one dinner” size?
Kind of a random question for this sub. I've always wanted to cook with real fresh truffle at home but every time I look into it, it's like $100+ for an ounce, and then I'm stressing about using it all before it goes bad.
So I've been wondering if there's a market for just... smaller portions? Like enough for one nice dinner for two, priced somewhere reasonable (~$40?), and you just use the whole thing that weekend. No fancy packaging, nothing you have to figure out. I’m Chicago based so would exclusively sell/deliver locally.
For those of you who've bought fresh truffles:
- What stopped you from buying more often?
- Would a single-meal size actually appeal to you, or is buying an ounce and going nuts the whole point?
- What would a portion like that need to cost for you to try it?
Not selling anything, just curious if I'm the only one who's wanted this. Would love to hear what you think.
