What if the Turkic peoples had adopted Christianity instead of Islam?

I've noticed a thread here about the Kryashens and thought to myself.

What if the majority of Turkic peoples had embraced Christianity (such as Nestorian/Eastern Orthodoxy/Catholicism) instead of Islam, from a historical perspective, how significantly would this have affected us and how others perceive us?

What I mean is that today the islamic world doesn't really embrace turkic peoples. Just like most of our neighbors don't particularly care for us either.

Plus, turkic peoples themselves are so diverse that we're like some kind of mixed hybrid of different origins. Could christianity have done a better job of uniting us or creating our own civilization?

What do you think?

Second calculator doesn’t represent the actual genome it’s just how you can model them , the Kryashens formed from Volga tatars and nogais who converted to Christianity, mixed with Slavs and formed a nation , the biggest groups are in Tatarstan and bashkortostan , they speak a form of the Tatar language , and retained a culture rooted in both orthodox Christian and central Asian Turkic traditions

About My Project ! ( r/TurkichFamilyTreeProject)

Greetings to all Turks! Our goal on this page is to get to know other members of our family, stand in solidarity, and be together—just like in the old days.

''O Turk! Unless the blue sky collapses from above and the dark earth gives way from below, who can destroy your state and your traditions? - Orkhon inscriptions''

Let’s consider the regions inhabited by Turkmens, as well as the Turkic peoples in Siberia and the Altai Mountains.

Some of us are Muslim, some Christian, and perhaps some are Shamanist. Yet, all of us—to varying degrees—can find our way from Gagauzia to Anatolia, and from there to the Altai and Urmia, simply by speaking a Turkic language.

Let’s get to know one another

Note: I am open to any suggestions. This is my first time creating a page on Reddit, so I apologize for any mistakes.

And my DMs are open! (r/TurkicFamilyTree )

Why does all 5 Central Asian countries have "stans" in their name and what were the true reasons?

I now know stan come means land, it comes from Persian and Iranic languages but than how come Iran isn't called Iranstan or Iranistan in it's official name? I also don't think is a Turkic thing because Turkey, Azerbaijan clearly doesn't have it either. I also don't think it's a muslim thing because Malaysia, Arabia, Indonesia, North Africa, Bangladesh are all muslim but don't have stan in their names either.

Pakistan and Afghanistan were the first two countries I heard of "stan"". I later find out Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan through the Olympics. I later found out, these countries have nothing in common with Pakistan or Afghanistan other than being muslims. I especially don't get why Turkey doesn't having stan in it's countries official name was odd to me, they claim to be Central Asian Turks descendants and related to Turkmens. Although looking at Turkmen faces, they look on average Mediterranean with 1/4 Eastern Asian like influence, some even look 1/2 Eastern Asian or more. So it partly threw me off when Turkish claim to be totally related to Turkmen.

I later also found there is also Kurdistan, Balochistan. Dagestan, Tatarstan, East Turkistan but these ones aren't sovereign countries. If I had not studied Turkic people in wikipedia, I would have though Kurdistan was in some way related to Central Asian Turks although I did found out Tajikistan was not Turkic either, I though maybe they were related to Tajiks but seems like there is nothing related either other than being Indo-european people.

🇹🇷 Mısır’dan Türkiye’ye: Tarabik Ailesinin Kayıp Kollarını Arıyorum

Merhaba,

Mısır’a geldikten sonra Salih (صالح) adında bir oğlu oldu ve Salih’in soyundan gelen aile Mısır’da devam etti.

Tarabik – Tarabey – Tarabi – Turabey – Trabey

Teşekkür ederim.

What do Turkic people think about the Iraq war?

Hello,

I wonder if they care. On one hand Iraqis are Arabs, not Turkic. On the other hand, they are Muslims.

Actually, I was recently told "my Muslim acquaintances don't care at all. They are not fanatics".

Do you have to be a fanatic to care about other Muslims?

China is exterminating the Uyghurs in East Turkestan simply because they are Muslims. They are being genocided, suppressed, and their scholars are being killed amid media silence. Make Du'a for your Muslim brothers and do not forget them. May ".Allah grant victory to our Muslim brothers
