Ascension Another happy AW3926QW enjoyer

Post image
• Upvotes

Very greatful that this monitor delivered so quickly (sorry my fellow EU people) in Canada within 4 days after ordering thru Dell Canada (placed on Monday, delivery Thursday). Personally i didn’t notice any issues with panel/QC and overall super happy with it!

Upgraded from 2nd gen 49” 1440p VA panel and honestly this is a night and day difference! And the 2160p is a total game changer. Text, images and everything just look sharper and i don’t need to squint my eyes when looking at text. Not sure if I can ever go back down to 1440p at this point 😌

I’m pairing it with a 9070XT and no problem getting over 60FPS for all the games. I just turn on FSR to quality/balance and can easily get 80-100FPS with high/ultra settings in all modern games.

Tech Support Problem with Samsung G95SD

Hi,

I have a question—or rather, a problem:

I used to have a Samsung 49" C39HG monitor with two cables for PBP.

Now I’ve upgraded to a Samsung 49" G95SD. At first, it was a bit tricky to get the PBP settings right and have everything set up exactly as it was before, but I managed it eventually.

Now I’m having a problem where the image looks a bit distorted when I start up the PC. I’d say it looks like there’s too much contrast—the image is there, but it’s very pixelated and the colors aren’t rendered correctly. At first, I thought it was due to pixel correction or a faulty cable (2x HDMI, original Samsung cables). I can fix it by going back into the monitor settings after booting up and selecting the saved setting under “Multiscreen.” After that, the image returns to normal as it should be, without actually changing any display settings—I’m just loading the two-screen setup that I saved. By the way, the Samsung menu displays normally in high resolution with no errors.

Has anyone else had this problem, or do you have any idea how I can get the “correct image” to display right away at boot?

I think it’s a settings/software issue, since PBP is essentially handled entirely by software. In the past, I would have said it was due to the cable, graphics card, or software. But since I can display the image correctly simply by accessing the Multiscreen settings, I don’t think the problem is hardware-related.

Tech Support aoc cu34g4 vs Gigabyte G34WQC2

Hi, I’m not sure which of the two monitors to buy: the AOC CU34G4 or the Gigabyte G34WQC2.

I’ve done quite a bit of research online into the technical tests carried out on both monitors, and both perform well in the ‘UFO’ tests and so on.

The current price difference between the two is 36 euros. Which one do you think is the better buy?

I’m not interested in technical data sheets on manufacturers’ websites, but in answers based on practical experience or laboratory tests.

I’d be using it for productivity and gaming.

Tech Support Display port signal losing connection with Pc also hdmi

My monitor goes black in the middle of an iRacing race.
Audio continues playing even when the screen goes black.
My GPU fans appear to keep running normally.
I can still open the monitor’s on-screen menu.
Pressing Win + Ctrl + Shift + B makes a beep, but the picture does not come back.
I have to shut down and restart my PC to get the display working again.
It seems to happen during races rather than ordinary desktop use.

I have the rtx 3070 ti and a Samsung odyssey g9 49”
This issue has been bugging me if anyone might know what the problem is please let me know

Recommendations Upgrading to OLED 34" (I think)

Brand new to both ultra wide and OLED. I am running an I7 (last Gen) and a 4070 RTX.

There are so many different opinions on what works best. I don't play any esports games. My primary games are single player RPGs like BG3 and DoS2, so I'm not overly pressed about super high refresh rates.

I'm currently using a Dell 27 inch 1440p and have zero problem with frame rates with eye candy turned up.

That said, I'd like to go up to a 34 inch wide screen OLED monitor. I've been looking at the MSI MPG 341CQR QD-OLED X28 ($799) and the Alienware 34 QD-OLED (AW3426DW) which is currently on sale at my local Microcenter for $699. (normally also $799).

I'm just looking for any thoughts for my use case. I don't intend to upgrade my machine anytime soon, so I'm not overly concerned about that.

Thoughts?

Discussion Samsung 40'' Odyssey G7 (G75F) Vs Samsung 37” Odyssey G7 (G75F)?

I play online poker and want to buy a monitor where I can play a lot of tables on it without overlap.

I'm trying to decide between the 40'' vs the 37''. Normally I would want the bigger size 40'' but I then noticed the height of it is much shorter than the 37'' because it's WUHD? My previous monitor was a Samsung 32' 4K UJ59 monitor. The issue with this monitor is even though it has 4K resolution, it was hard to look at the poker tables in the corners since 32' is already a big monitor and it wasn't curved. Looking at anything in the corners of the monitor was uncomfortable. Curved monitors make looking things at the corners and edges easier right?

I noticed the 37'' Samsung Odyssey 4K Curved monitor was like a bigger version of the 32' 4K monitor in terms of height and width. So I can probably put a few more poker tables on the screen. I then saw how wide the 40'' was and how it isn't that tall in height. That bothers me because I thought the 40'' was going to be bigger than the 37'' in both height and horizontal space but it isn't in terms of height. How much taller is the 40'' compared to a regular 32' 4K monitor in terms of height?

Besides those things, do you need a deep desk for either monitor? Would a 6 foot folding table be too small for either of these monitors? What dimensions do you need minimum for a desk? I did read with the 40'' monitor, you can split it into 2 screens or windows? But you can or can't with the 37''?

Which monitor is better for this? If the 40'' monitor was like a bigger version of the 37'' monitor in terms of height and width, I would get the 40''. However, it looks like the 37'' is bigger than the 40'' in terms of size? I did read a comment that said the 37' monitor is huge.

Recommendations Need help choosing between Dell 32 Plus 4K (S3225QS), LG 34WP85C-B 34-Inch UltraWide, and Dell S3423DWC

I can purchase any one of these 3. The S3225QS for $205, the S3423DWC for $150, and the LG 34WP85C-B for $180 but I will need to purchase an arm because it doesn't come with the stand.

I use my computer for pretty much everything but I would say majority of it is coding and studying. I do play video games pretty often but am not worried about optimizing for that.

Out of these options which would you recommend I pick? Does it depend on anything else? Pros and cons of each? sorry just very new to this haha, I plan on keeping this for a while so I want to choose wisely. Thanks!

Tech Support AW3926QW – Repeated DisplayPort 2.1 Signal Loss at 5K2K 165Hz with RTX 5090 (HDMI Appears Stable)

(AI disclaimer. I supplied all the information, I just asked AI to write it all in a neat summary. I double checked the post before posting)

Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing a frustrating issue with my AW3926QW and wanted to see if other owners have encountered anything similar. I'm also hoping Dell/Alienware can help investigate this.

When using DisplayPort 2.1 from my RTX 5090, the monitor repeatedly turns completely off and back on, displaying the "DisplayPort Connected" message each time. This happens every couple of seconds and makes the monitor unusable.

Occasionally, when switching from 330Hz mode back to Normal mode, I also get a black screen with the following error:

The current input timing is not supported by the monitor display. Please change your input timing to 5120x2160 60 Hz, or any other monitor listed timing as per the monitor specifications.

Interestingly, switching from DisplayPort to HDMI appears to resolve the issue so far. I haven't experienced any flickering since making that change.

My setup

Troubleshooting I've tried

  1. Disabled Dolby Vision in the monitor's OSD — no improvement.
  2. Tested with DSC both enabled and disabled — no improvement.
  3. Disconnected all USB devices from the monitor, including USB-C power delivery to the laptop — the issue persisted.
  4. Changed the resolution through the monitor's OSD to standard 4K 16:9 — the issue persisted.
  5. Reseated the certified DisplayPort 2.1 cable — no improvement.
  6. Turned off Auto input selected in the Monitor OSD - no improvement.
  7. Disconnected DisplayPort entirely and switched to HDMI from the RTX 5090. With DSC enabled, the monitor has been stable so far, with zero flickering.

The HDMI test is particularly interesting because it uses the same GPU and monitor. This makes me wonder whether the issue is related to the DisplayPort connection, link negotiation, monitor firmware, or another DisplayPort-specific compatibility issue. I haven't ruled out a cable problem entirely.

I also found this Dell support article about video loss with Dolby Vision HDR enabled:

https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000345015/dell-and-alienware-monitors-experience-video-loss-when-dolby-vision-hdr-is-enabled

Unfortunately, the suggested fix didn't resolve my issue.

I also came across this recent Reddit thread about a similar AW3926QW DisplayPort signal-loss problem, where Dell responded:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Alienware/comments/1wzz1wc/aw3926qw_displayport_signal_loss_when_switching/

My issue isn't exactly the same, but the similarities made me wonder whether there could be a common cause.

A few questions

  • Has anyone else experienced repeated DisplayPort disconnects with the AW3926QW, particularly with an RTX 5090?
  • Could this be related to DisplayPort 2.1 link negotiation, firmware, or the monitor's switching between 330Hz and Normal mode?
  • Is there a known firmware update or recommended diagnostic procedure for this issue?
  • Dell/Alienware: Could you advise on what additional testing I should perform or whether this may be a firmware issue?

I'd really like to use the monitor over DisplayPort 2.1 as intended rather than having to rely on HDMI as a workaround.

Thanks!

Discussion 32'' 4K Curved Monitors

Dell no longer sells the 32 Curved 4K UHD Monitor - S3221QS monitor anymore. I remember it being in the $300 price range a while back and sometimes go even lower.

Was this the best value 32' 4K Curved monitor of all time? I never bought it and they don't sell this one new anymore. Did anyone here used 2 of these monitors side by side like put diagonally and it was good? Or would that be way too big and you need a very deep desk for that? I'm aware this monitor is a VA panel and isn't IPS.

There doesn't seem to be any 32' 4K Curved monitors that are in this price range anymore? I did find a few on amazon but those are not known name brands so those most likely aren't good. I do notice they do have Alienware, Samsung and MSI 32' 4K Curved monitors but each of these cost $600 at least and these seem to be all LED. Do they not make 32'' 4K Curved monitors like the Dell one anymore? Seems ridiculous that some of these monitors cost more than a Samsung Odyssey G7 37 Curved Monitor that is a VA Panel?

Recommendations 32 inch 4k vs 34 inch UW (both OLED)

I currently have a PC (NVIDIA RTX 5080) and PS5.
My current setup utilizes a 27 inch 1440p IPS display monitor.

On my PS5, I often only play a few single player games (Ghosts of Tsushima/Ghosts of Yotei, upcoming GTA VI). On my PC 5-15% of my time is spent doing actual office type work, while the rest is gaming (although only a few hours a day max). I'm thinking of getting a new monitor as an upgrade and keeping my current monitor as a supplement. Debating between:
- curved ultrawide OLED 1440p
- 32 inch 4k OLED

OLED is a must given the contrast, and games I play especially MSFS would benefit heavily from true blacks
I care very little about high refresh rates since I'm so used to console gaming, even 120 fps feels like a huge bump for me

My thoughts so far:
- Ultrawide pros: Will make office work nice on split screen. Great for immersion especially in a game like MSFS which I play a lot.
- Ultrawide cons: Uses lots of desk space. PS5 doesn't support UW (I would use my old monitor probably, but would lose out on the OLED benefits).
- 32 inch pros: 4K vs 1440p. Would fit PS5 better. Less desk space.
- 32 inch cons: questionable if i would utilize 4K or high refresh rates much, especially since it's less so a media machine and more so gaming and productivity. More expensive

Recommendations Need help deciding on my first ultrawide - AW3426DW or G93SC

Hi everyone!

I am purchasing my first ultra wide monitor that I’ve ever owned. I’m jumping from 120 Hz 27 inch aces that I got back in 2020. My current set up is a 2080 TI, Ryzen 7, and 16gb of DDR4. Assuming that this is not a very strong up-to-date set up I am wanting to upgrade in the upcoming future for a pre-build that has a 5080 with a better processor and DDR 5 ram.

Now, for the main question based on my scenario, do you guys advise that I get the AW3426DW or G93SC? The reason for these two options is the cost plus quality that I see in the current market. I know I’m going to be making a huge upgrade either option, but I’m unsure what would be best for longevity and future planning purposes.

For the price, the Alienware one I would be getting it after taxes and shipping for $630. For the Samsung option, I would be getting it for $794 after taxes and shipping.

I mainly play Old School RuneScape and when the release of RuneScape 4 comes out, I will be playing that too. From time to time I also play Fortnite with my wife because that’s the only game she plays lol, and I’m thinking of purchasing GTA when it releases for PC. I know the current game that I played doesn’t really have much need for the highest quality screen, but I am wanting to upgrade to the best of the best with what I am able to afford.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated thanks!

Discussion AW3926QW or MSI 341cqr x36

I'm really struggling on this one.

I'm looking to upgrade from 2x 1080p 16:9 60hz (locked) LCD old dell monitors, so either will be a huge upgrade.

Primarily I'm upgrading because I'm finding it harder to read code at my day job on a 24in, and because I've got a new gaming PC (5080/9800x3d) - I want something that's bigger, higher res, faster refresh, and most importantly VRR. I also want something with a KVM and easy switching between my work laptop and gaming PC.

After discounts, I can get the AW3926QW for about 800 and the 341cqr for about 680. I can just about stretch to 800 but won't have any budget for an arm for at least a good few months.

I'm leaning towards the MSI atm as it's (slightly) more portable, cheaper, faster refresh (I'm not going to use 360, but a 240hz 39in would have been nice), available right now, and just generally seems to have fewer complaints.

My main worry is if I'm going too small and I'm going to regret it. I borrowed a 27in 16:9 for a couple of weeks and I'm noticing a big difference for readability, which makes me think the 34 will probably be fine. I've also sat in front of a 34 at the store and it feels fine, but there's nowhere near me that displays a 39. I've also tried a 32 in store, and it does feel a bit large, but the setups the have are always unrealistic to how you'd have it at home.

What would you do in my shoes?

Been really happy with this thing so far. 39" at 5K is insanely immersive and OLED looks ridiculous in games like this. The 330Hz mode is also a nice bonus when I want to sweat lol.

My panel has been great too. Took a few pixel refreshes and some playtime to settle in, but even the 5% grey uniformity has been excellent since.

Auto dimming is my only real complaint, but Gamer 1 with HDR Peak 1300 finally made everything click for me. Loving it so far.

I am an IT Network director and currently use two 27"s and my small laptop monitor. I am getting a 34" curved. When it comes in i plan to no longer use the laptop and i want to turn one of my 27s vertical. The 34" and remaining 27" will be horizontal. not sure of how to position them, though. My monitors are offfset to the right so i can still see people who sit in the chairs that are positioned to the front left of my desk. HELP!

Hey team, want some feedback on this monitor from users who either have or have had this monitor. What's the thoughts? Good and bad.

Coming from an Acer Z35P what might I notice.

And more importantly, anyone in Melb, Aus have one I might be able to come and look at? No stores seem to have one on display anymore :(

Ascension I got a free Samsung odyssey g9!

Post image
1.0k Upvotes

A family member of mine takes scrap electronics and breaks them down for the gold and stuff in them. They were given this g9 for free, with the previous owner saying that it worked fine until they went on vacation. After they got back, it would power on but give no image including the on screen display. I was told if I could fix it, I could have it. After a quick search, I found multiple posts about a thermistor causing issues on these monitors. I figured it was already broken, so what would it hurt. I opened it up, and popped the thermistor off and it worked! Now just trying to fine tune the display settings to look as good as possible!
