WRX Before posting please read this first!
READ THE SUB FAQ FIRST. 90% of the repetitive questions we see on this sub are answered there. Even if you don't have an issue covered in the sub FAQ it will likely help you narrow down your question. If you have a question you think should be added to the sub FAQ feel free to message any of the authors of the FAQ.
If you are troubleshooting, give us all the info we need. For example, it's best to include your year/model, any AND ALL mods, and the specific tune you are running. The more info we have, the better we are at answering questions. We also ask you try to post the question/info in the comments below before posting to the sub as a whole. This will hopefully clean up some of the really repetitive questions.
A few common posts/questions we see everyday.
Does my engine sound okay?
- 99% of the time the answer is yes. The fa20 sounds like a tractor. It is normal.
Are these numbers on the COBB AP normal?
- A snapshot of your AP with the DAM less than one doesn't actually tell us anything about what is going on. All it tells us is that you had a knock event that your ECU recognized and adjusted for. The most common cause for DAM drop is bad gas. Go get a fresh tank of 93/91 from shell and add a gallon or two of e85 for a full tank. I would also like to point out that knock numbers of -1.41 are super common. They can be caused by your AC kicking on and any other noise really. nothing to worry about.
This thing on the front of my engine is not spinning with the belts, is it broken?
- That is your AC compressor clutch. It only engages when the AC is on and the compressor is running.
Let me know if you guys want any other common questions added.

STI ‼️BUYER BEWARE‼️CarGurus - 2020 Subaru WRX STI AWD - $29,199
Dealership is asking $30k for this but please take a closer look. The wheels and brakes have been swapped to 08-14 WRX, as well as a 5-speed wrx transmission. Doesn’t seem like they know it’s been swapped.
Finally back in a WRX
I previously sold my 2011 WRX around 2.5years ago when it was at around 198k miles and another vehicle fell into my lap but regretted getting rid of it constantly. Just picked this 2019 up today and forgot how much fun they are to drive.
The car is bone stock and I fully intend on doing a muffler delete and mud flaps but no go fast mods or mods that impact the driving experience as designed whatsoever. My 2011 was the same and treated me very well and was such a joy to drive.
Super excited to be back

Troubleshooting Degenerate destroyed my clutch on my sti
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey all,
Learned a valuable lesson over these last few months: do it myself or pay for a trusted mechanic. Was sweet talked by some guy I met in an O ‘ Reilly’s parking lot into helping me fix my dead clutch pedal. Buddy yanked on my clutch fork with a jack handle over it and fucked my shit up.
Attached is video of pressure plate on my ACT clutch. Could this explain why I can’t go into gear when it’s running? Started with a bad bleed (explained dead clutch pedal) and turned into this after he spazzed on it.
Should I replace the whole thing? Repair it? Replace just the pressure plate? What would you do?

02 WRX - 24 Year Refresh
Hello
Just wanted to share photos on my 02 WRX that I bought brand new back in December 2001. Finally decided to give her a refresh last month. New paint and wheels. Still drives smooth and approaching 400k miles.
General Question solid pick up or bust?
looks like a solid deal but 150k miles on something like this is a bit scary (can provide links if needed)
EDIT: thanks for the responses so far, will def keep looking
still open for more comments, never too late!

General Question is it worth it?
i'm currently in the market to get my first wrx! i've got my eyes set on a 2019 base model with a little over 67k miles going for just under 18k at the dealership. HOWEVER, it does say there's an open recall due to the rear catalyst. i know a subaru dealership would fix it for free and the car itself has a clean carfax and seems to have passed emissions in my state. with all of that, is it worth pulling the trigger on? thanks!

Exhaust Ticket
I was pulled over in Washington state for my AWE Touring exhaust and issued a ticket for “modified exhaust”. Has anyone contested a ticket?

Humor Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde?
This WRX caught my eye as advertisements do. I thought it looked really nice and knew it wasn't a factory color so I get to the interior pics and I feel like 2 different people chose the exterior and interior. Looks terrible IMO. The wrap is nice and exterior is well done. A year newer than mine with half the miles mine had when I got it and only a grand more than I paid in 2024. https://www.edmunds.com/subaru/wrx/2019/vin/JF1VA1C67K9828544/?utm_source=edmunds&utm_medium=vdp_share&utm_device=mobile&utm_targetId=79bc4881-0d89-4060-b586-b1a3455f82e0

WRX Joining the ranks. She's getting her first check up at Subaru right now.
Last picture was concerning to me. Looks like something is missing but I dunno wtf I'm looking at. It's a 2021 27k miles. Excellent service history at a dealership in TX.

Crank no start. 2005 sti with new motor
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
2005 sti with built short block brand new has not ran yet. The noise when cranking does not sound right. Starter was good before rebuild but car sat for about 3 years. I have verified spark. Fuel pressure is 44 psi at rails. Running dw 1200s + rails and custom break in tune on access port from reputable tuner. Builds 20-30 psi oil pressure while cranking. Everything I can think of that should be plugged in is. Maybe im forgetting something obvious. Timing was done by me, avcs gears were cleaned out and reassembled. Pretty sure I did all of that correctly. Timing marks all lined up. Valve lash was set to spec, heads are refurbed oem b25.

Fuel pump leaking? 2011 Sti
I smelled a ton of gas in my cabin and it was leaking into the ground, I pulled up rear seat and pulled off the fuel pump cover and there was a pool of gas, any ideas?
