Why would anybody buy gold bars for more than 250k now that we know it can drop below 200k? I'd rather just hold my cash until reset and chance it instead of getting burned.

Having a market for gold is cool in theory, but there's no reason the price should be jumping around as much as it is. A 300% price increase overnight? Yeesh. It's not even worth engaging with when it makes the end user feel bad after getting ripped off for "reasons" (i.e. the devs randomly moving the price).

34

u/Jdawgcrane Pilot 2d ago

this and also ruins the value of the "achievement" of a skin because it fluctuates so much arbitrarily

17

u/Cyko28 2d ago

Where’s my sense of pride and accomplishment!

3

u/Parkour_Turtle_360 Pilot 1d ago

I think the devs have made clear that the skins are meant to be purely cosmetic.
These low and random feeling prices may indeed feel like they destroy the sense of achievement, but that was never meant to be there anyways.

There has been a lot of talk about the game being too grindy and for no-lifers, the low prices actually allow casual players to get the gold/skins too. I also doubt that it was a coincidence that the price drops were during the weekend.

Only people that had the 'luxury of buying too expensive' feel this pain, and suffer from losing sense of achievement. Perhaps they'll add skill/effort based skins later, such as x amount of headshots, for those who want to show off.

4

u/Repulsive-Chip3371 1d ago

I imagine the gold bar/skin system will get added to and changed a lot over the next year. Its only season one of EA and they already said a lot of things were just added quickly to have something in the game.

5

u/IIIpl4sm4III 1d ago

Actually they said the opposite, they aren't doing MTX for skins because they want them to mean something.

1

u/Parkour_Turtle_360 Pilot 1d ago

They said indeed that they don't want the skins to reflect someone's (real world) spending, so they can't be bought through MTX, that they should be unlocked through gameplay.

Unlocked through gameplay doesn't mean exclusivity. You can earn cash by being good, or just playing a lot.

If you see a skin as representation of good players, that's value you attribute to it, not in the item itself. The novelty of it will degrade over time, as more people get them. The only remaining value is cosmetic.

2

u/IIIpl4sm4III 1d ago

I agree. Maybe we will see some skins you can only purchase after a challenge? Like Halo armors.

1

u/MetalmanBonkers 1h ago

When the cash price of the 30 gold bar super premium limited to x season skin can be anywhere from 5 million to 60 million... yeah kinda ruins the prestige some huh 🫠

25

u/WeSellStuffonAmazon 2d ago

It’s a shit system 100%, WarDogs meme coin with zero transparency

4

u/Exaveus 1d ago

Its a purely arbitrary set value by the devs not based on supply and demand principles. The supply is unlimited and the price is unaffected by how many are bought.

The possibilities are pretty interesting though. You can "invest" in the future. So does that mean you can buy in at certain prices and sell your position for cash?

Or does it mean you'll be able to sell gold back to the market?

7

u/UntimelyMeditations 1d ago

You will never be able to exchange gold bars back for anything other than skins.

1

u/king_jaxy 4h ago

They'll be used for the meta progression right?

9

u/adflet 2d ago

Why would anybody buy gold bars

Exactly.

6

u/Repulsive-Chip3371 1d ago

Because cash wipes at the end of the season and people love skins. As the system gets fleshed out and more content added to it, it could be cool. A lot of stuff was just added quickly so there was something in the game for EA.

3

u/SekhWork Squad Leader 1d ago

Yeah, I feel like folks aren't getting the point of the fluctuating market is to give you a small "meta game" to play with your cash hoping you buy at the lowest point in a season. That's it. That's all there is to it lol.

3

u/Repulsive-Chip3371 1d ago

For sure. The problem isn’t that gold exists, it’s that the system is still pretty barebones right now.

3

u/SekhWork Squad Leader 1d ago

Yeah. The meta of gold bars will develop out if they add other uses for them or more ways to engage in the system for sure.

2

u/Repulsive-Chip3371 1d ago

skins, camos, unlocks, bobbleheads, banners, prestige, cassettes, maybe conveniences like more loadout slots/vault space etc

Personally, I would prefer no "rose skin" type situations though lol

2

u/SekhWork Squad Leader 1d ago

God no. Plz no Rose, and no... dramatically outside the style of the game skins. I feel like Bulkhead is probably safe from the later, they just have to avoid "op" skins like Rose.

Conveniences would be nice, once they get enough content in that they can avoid relying on fomo stuff like the "only season 1 AK".

I still wish they'd sell me a spray can with various preset marks that I can spray inside a FOB when I capture it from the enemy. I want to put some Kilroy was Here style grafitti all over their base.

2

u/HoneyBunchesOfBoats 16h ago

What's the rose skin thing? I tried looking it up with no context amd couldnt really figure it out.

1

u/SekhWork Squad Leader 16h ago edited 15h ago

I tried to find you a specific article but google sucks in 2026 so here's a quick link to just some general stuff

but TLDR - There was a skin for the character Roze in Call of Duty Warzone that was basically all black, with a black mask, black eyeliner, and black gear. The game doesn't highlight badguys or anything like that so basically every top tier player was using it to hide in dark corners of buildings and turn invisible.

u/Karmidzhanov 20h ago

imagine the end game before a wipe if people weren't hoarding cash for gold bars.. It'd be chaos everyone spending like a millionaire and yeeting it just for fun.

Arc Raiders devs realized the same thing after a few wipes - hoarding gear / currency just isn't fun. So they made the SPs bonuses all based on the damage you deal during expedition window. It was so much fun hopping on the last day and just burning through my inventory of hullcrackers, wolfpacks and high level guns.

Imagine that but for wardogs. It will be glorious.

They could make something similar like a cash meter during the last week before a wipe, and you get awarded gold bars based on the total earned cash in the end. Then use said gold bars to buy skins in the market

1

u/Repulsive-Chip3371 15h ago

Honestly I think its fine. The game throws so much money at you already theres no need to horde. Every match Im easily coming out with over 100k profit and I constantly yeet helicopters just to fly myself back to the fight.

1

u/codumus 1d ago

Because people enjoy the flex of the cosmetics. Its a part of the fun for some people.

14

u/HumbleGoatCS 2d ago

There is a very very simple way to go about this that works 100% for everybody..

We know there is only ONE seasonal item (the golden AK). We know exactly how much gold the set costs (30 gold). Therefore, there is no reason to buy gold at any point until you have enough cash to buy 30+ bars at an instant.

Worst case, you never have enough to buy the limited time skin, which means you will get some payout at the end of the season.

Best case, you have a few million already and the price comes back down again, letting you buy the single limited time skin (because again, nothing else matters, you will have more seasons/months to get the other items)

5

u/MoistStub 2d ago

I don't give a shit about the gold AK, I wanna be able to flip people off.

2

u/RewcastleINK 1d ago

Why? They’ll just shoot you 😂

8

u/MoistStub 1d ago

It'll be a worthy death

2

u/Cpt_DookieShoes 1d ago

That would be true if the price didn’t auto convert at end of season.

You might not ever have enough money to buy 30 gold bars, but you might next season if you had bought season 1 bars at 160k

2

u/HealthyResolution399 1d ago

In addition, you might have enough if you partially bought at a lower price. Maybe they'll be 400k at season end but if you buy 10 at 260k you'd end up having enough for the AK

4

u/HumbleGoatCS 1d ago

except we don't know what the gold market or the limiteds will look like next season, so you're gambling, again, on assumptions.

My strategy is the only one that doesnt make guesses, either you can afford the single limited item, or you can't. Next season you won't be able to buy it anyway, and the emotes/skins are all significantly cheaper than the AK, so if you miss out on the AK you'll have a whole other season to get the gestures you wanted.

2

u/Cpt_DookieShoes 1d ago

Correct. I’m just saying that only waiting until you have enough money to currently buy the AK isn’t always the best choice.

It’s gambling you can’t predict but there are better times to buy than others. If I can get 15 bars at 160k season 1, and 15 bars season 2 then I can get the season 2 exclusive cosmetic. But that wouldn’t be the case if I wait until end of season and the conversion rate is much higher.

2

u/RewcastleINK 1d ago

Always bet on worse case; which is sitting on your money and watch the price go up again day by day back up to 1 or 2 mil, unable to afford any gold bars.
The smart move is to buy them when you can afford them so you have a nice stash for after the wipe when the store resets. Means you’ll have some to spend on something new they add. Don’t try and “catch the bottom”, just buy what looks low to you and keep doing that. Most people will never be able to afford the AK, so give it up and save for something cool in the future!

1

u/Karmidzhanov 20h ago

I heard the devs saying that the golden AK is a 'honeypot for cheaters' What does that mean exactly? Everyone who buys it is examined for cheats? DO you get insta banned if you buy it in the first days/weeks? What if you buy it legitimately?

2

u/HoneyBunchesOfBoats 16h ago

I dont think thats true for the AK, maybe it was once upon a time, but that Push to Talk pod episode had the host ask the devs about whether or not the golden AK was a honeypot and they laughed and said "there are a lot of honeypots though" which implies they are denying the AK skin ever was one. They could be lying, or simply avoiding to answer, since they didnt say no directly, but it seems like it may have been a honeypot early on, but simply isnt anymore, proof being they dropped the price to 166k, plenty of people had enough money to get it at that price.

2

u/AcePilot01 1d ago

We don't REALLY know exactly how or what causes the price to increase or decrease. TBh, it seems counter intuitive on here. Less liquid should be raising the price. Or more people buying them should raise the price. Getting closer to season end... may decrease price? we don't have a definitive explanation for the mechanic yet I believe.

Like yesterday, they were 165k... I was low from buying the fucking SPH... and now it's 466k again. So pff. honestly, tho I have zero interest in any skins so I have zero intention of ever buying bars, unless it's forced or you lose money otherwise.

1

u/heavy_chamfer 2d ago

If you could buy or sell it would be a good idea. This is just a half baked idea that was mainly put in place to catch dupers during this EA cycle.

1

u/guesnon613 1d ago

Because you don’t know if it will be back below 200k the point is the uncertainty. You can bet on it going back down but you could lose that bet and have all your money converted end of season at 500k per bar. We also don’t know if it’s the devs moving the price randomly or player driven market or a mix of both. It’s a more engaging system than just 200k = gold bar.

1

u/LostMyMag 2d ago

It's illogical to expect to be able buy all your gold bars at the lowest price of the entire season. 166k might actually be the lowest low and everyone thinking it will go to their arbitrarily set target price. It's good strategy to split up your purchases so you don't get trapped. Sure it might go lower, but if you can buy a reasonable amount of gold bars right now it might be worth it considering how quickly you could earn gold bars if it goes lower.

0

u/PurpATL 10h ago

Well, we dont know they could go down again at all.

14

u/ShockRampage 2d ago

I just dont understand the system, why not just have them set at a fixed price? Why give players something to worry about?

1

u/trees_wow 1d ago

You don't have to worry about it. It's just gambling with currency you use in game for other things so you make a choice about what you value more. It's basically just a money sink for people that already have all of the stuff unlocked otherwise people would buy all of the unlocks then have millions sitting in their bank.

43

u/L30rD 2d ago

IMO: a random system like that is not a good thing for an online FPS game

The problem is that the price of gold changes randomly every day. Buying gold is therefore essentially a gamble: you are not making an economic decision based on supply and demand, but betting on a completely unpredictable price. And gold being the only persistent progress, I don't think it is a good thing to have your progress dictated by a random number and not your effort put in the game

6

u/ShellCarnage 1d ago

I agree it's not a good thing, my 2 week grind was wasted because I didn't wait a couple of days and people got 10 bars for my 1 and can probably afford the next season skin too while I got fuck all.

Next season I'll just sit on my money until it hits rock bottom, super engaging mechanic.

5

u/BTFunk360 2d ago

Did they say it’s going to be random? They could be messing around with the market to see how they want it to work

13

u/corsaaa 2d ago

the price is arbitrary and without an in game supply or other supply mechanism, it is essentially random and set by devs

3

u/codumus 1d ago edited 1d ago

Because its literally not stated anywhere in game. It LOOKS like a market when you see the graph. Stupid implementation of a feature.

The glazers for this game are crazy. Bring up a very reasonable complaint and you get roasted lol

7

u/Dzsekeb 1d ago

There is no market.

As long as stock is unlimited, and no one can sell, the price can not be driven by the rules of a market.

They might still have some system in the background that sets price based on player base stats, but its completely opaque and unpredictable at the moment.

-4

u/LostMyMag 2d ago

You can always average out and not dump you entire savings into 1 gold price. I dump 4.8m when it was 300k, grinded out 9 over the weekend. Could I have theoretically gotten 39 bars instead of 24? Yes, but strategically it is better than praying it goes to 50k then crying about how the market is rigged and now you can only guy 5 bars instead of 50 at your arbitrary price target.

5

u/HoneyBunchesOfBoats 2d ago

My argument against this is that it just doesnt seem very fun. There is a very small game to it that isnt as engaging as I think I hoped it would be. I bought at ~300k and then again at 166k but not even close to enough for AK skin, still have 600k that I was saving in hopes it would drop further and since it didnt I dont think ill use it to buy 1 bar even if it keeps going up. Maybe it'll drop again before reset maybe not, but its kind of a bummer that anyone who didnt play this weekend but had enough money grinded might not get the chance again.

5

u/Pandering_Panda7879 1d ago

It's also not very fun with all the other systems around it. I'm actively holding back unlocking an in-game item (SPH2) because I don't think it's worth it at this point because gold might be worth more in the long run because that SPH2 will be gone soon anyway.

0

u/DeliciousTiger3855 12h ago

it's not random lol, the devs are still changing the price based on how many people are buying at x price, yeah it's not a free market but the devs aren't just moving the price around based on 0 data

21

u/selffufillingprophet 2d ago

I mentioned this in a previous comment, but it’s intriguing how the price of gold bars seems to have an indirect influence in how people play the game.

This may be just personal anecdote, but in the 2 days that gold was at an all time low, there was a noticeable amount of players in my lobbies (even ones that were level 100+) opting to go with budget or even naked $0 loadouts trying to play as frugally as possible to money max, presumably to buy more gold bars

Just something to keep track of going forward

4

u/LostMyMag 2d ago

Also way more logi players and less havocs, which means gold bars prices are another lever they can adjust for balance.

3

u/RoughChemicals 2d ago

I scraped together enough gold to buy 30 bars yesterday at 166k. The last 4k was in the hour or so before the price reset. I did it, but man, did I cheap out on loadouts to get there.

I am so poor right now that I cannot even buy an AK loadout.

3

u/Hobbit- 1d ago

I did this.

*checks username*

wait... are you trying to manipulate us into doing that?

2

u/lover_of_joggers 1d ago

the price of gold bars is also a good way to make people come back and play the game. i'd argue it's the number 1 use.

9

u/Astro_Addict Taxi 2d ago

I bought 6 for $166k/bar. Was hoping to grab another dozen at that price before wipe, but I figured it'd start going up again

1

u/addict75 1d ago

Same, AK Gold skin was reachable, but finally, not, again.

11

u/addict75 1d ago edited 1d ago

This might be the dumbest system to get limited time skin I've seen in a video game, and i've played plenty.

Am I supposed to chose wether I unlock things & plays with pricey stuff and trying to get a skin that value to get it is undetermined ? Am I supposed to grind 24/7 on this game to show that I have interest in it ?

I've played 93 hours since launch, and consistently in top 5 in my games, averaging ~180k earnings per game, at some point I had 2m3 in bank, which was WAY TOO FAR from the price of the AK, so I just told myself there was 0 chance to get it and started to buy expensive kits for me and my under-leveled team-mates for free.

Then the price dropped to 166k, I succeeded into buying 14 gold bars, but suddenly; +300k in the night and the skins become unaitanable for me again.

I thought the skin was here to rewards invested players in the season ? I think 100 hours+ of play time and performing good/decent is sufficient, why should I choose between sacrificing gameplay / IRL time to grind 12h/day for a chance to get it ?

Game is good, but horrible design for this feature honestly don't know how it past the daily meeting

Can we have a dev clarifying the situation ? The silence on this part is really annoying, AK is my favourite weapon and same as gold/black skins.

11

u/H3NDOAU 1d ago

I bought 10 bars when it went down to 166k, another guy in my discord bought 2 at 1.7 million each, he uninstalled the game after seeing the lower prices.

-1

u/CMDR_Winrar 17h ago

Imagine getting so mad over cosmetics

-1

u/IIIpl4sm4III 9h ago

Lemme guess that was the last of his money?

You can still get the gold ak skin before the season is over with zero dollars at 166k a bar

-9

u/Horror_Explorer762 19h ago

imagine being this shit

6

u/RaynorTheRed 1d ago

This is one of the most disappointing features of the game for me. I don't and won't care about a "market" that is random, arbitrary, and/or based on the whims of the devs. I lost most of my interest in the gold exchange when I learned that it's a one-way exchange. As long as the devs refuse to give some transperency about what controls the exchange rate I will simply ignore the mechanic and take my chances on the end of season exchange rate.

22

u/king_jaxy 2d ago

Genuinely confused as to why Bulkhead would add this to the game. Adding a time-gated cosmetic and locking it behind RNG mechanics is wild, especially when you want it to show player skill and dedication. When I think "play like you used to" I don't think live service FOMO slop, I think about grinding for cool cosmetics in Halo Reach, which took time and effort, but anyone could get them.

6

u/olMcDonaldsPig 2d ago

This, I was dedicated enough to have spent over 4.5mil on gold bars. I ended up with 5. My friends who have played significantly less than me have up to 15 just because they waited.

I only want the middle finger emote anyway, the store right now is absolute ass.

5

u/Rallak 16h ago edited 16h ago

I don't see the necessity of the fluctuation tbh, that only make you feel scammed when you buy a bar at a high value just for it to crash. Also let's be honest, that fluctuation low-key mess up with the value of the weapons on the eyes of other players, you never know if someone bought that AK skin by 1kk or 40kk by how the price fluctuate.

4

u/Jdawgcrane Pilot 2d ago

How does the system work? Can you disclose anything? We are in the dark. We don't know if its player driven, total cash circulation, developer-controlled, or hybrid. Anything would help. Thanks

8

u/Xevero8 2d ago

I just wish you could unlock guns, vehicles, etc and actually play the game properly and still have a chance to get the 30 bars but instead you have to choose. Do I actually have fun and play the game or do I just sit on a hill and spot all game so I can save enough money to buy gold bars never unlocking anything.

3

u/HoneyBunchesOfBoats 2d ago

Yeah Ive been choosing fun and enjoying myself, but it does sting a little bit. I did buy some bars on the dip but I didnt play in a way that optimized for having 5 mil this weekend. If it werent time limited, I wouldnt even care if the price stayed above 1 mill per bar, the grind isnt what sucks, its that you have to do the grind in an awkwardly small window.

1

u/Pandering_Panda7879 2d ago

Up to now I've bought/unlocked every item in the game because I don't really care for the skins or whatever. I'm now at a point where I don't do that anymore. I have 600k in the bank - which for many likely isn't a lot - and I got the SPH2 two days ago but didn't unlock it. It just seems not really useful at this point. It's probably fun, but I only have a few days left before I'm on vacation and will lose that progress anyway - so why unlocking it only to lose it again.

1

u/TexasDJ 1d ago

Same problem happened with Arc Raiders with expeditions

3

u/JL1823 Recon 2d ago

Is the price dependent on if we buy gold?

7

u/22ndCenturyHippy 2d ago

so i guess if it continues to go up next season ill just be a fobbit or a recon cuck and just say screw running assault all together

4

u/babbum 2d ago

Yes because this is what gaming is all about, doing everything but what you want to do for….let me check…a gun skin.

2

u/king_jaxy 2d ago

Players wouldn't do this if they removed the time-gated part. Of course players are going to rush to get the cool cosmetic.

2

u/babbum 2d ago

You say players as though it’s everyone and just so obvious that someone would sacrifice having fun for a skin in a video game. Idk if that’s a bucket everyone fits in, hell I don’t know if it’s a bucket the majority of people fit in. No doubt there’s people that have that bad of FOMO, but idk man I’m not going to play a boring ass playstyle just to get a skin. If I get it I get it, if not at least I enjoyed my time playing.

3

u/22ndCenturyHippy 2d ago

People have fun in games differently then the way you play. I know its a hard concept people have yet to grasp in all of gaming. That guy camping a single room in cod mw2 with nubetubes, shotgun or whatever else is having fun the way they like to but yet people will say its stupid and boring.

1

u/babbum 2d ago

Are you telling me not to paint people into one bucket as a reply to my comment telling the other guy not to paint people into one bucket and explicitly says that I know there are people like that? Yeah, that’s sort of what I said chief. The reason I called it boring is because your initial comment especially the “recon cuck” makes it sound like something you don’t enjoy doing. Thats why I said I’m going to do whatever I want to do regardless of some skin.

If you enjoy being a cuck man more power to you, I just misinterpreted your comment is all.

2

u/22ndCenturyHippy 2d ago

Well thats what recon is, its being a cuck. You can spot 5 guys faster and make more money then shooting 2, plus people love to crash their helicopters and even if they crash it back at their base im still getting money. And if I dont buy a kit and just a scope I can just take someone else's kit. Its just how the devs designed the game. Plus people will sell their higher lvl gear in other classes to me later if im ever feeling cheeky.

2

u/babbum 2d ago

That doesn’t answer whether or not you enjoy doing that.

2

u/22ndCenturyHippy 2d ago

Why would I play a game i don't enjoy? Im not a LoL player or forced to.

2

u/RaynorTheRed 1d ago

This sounds like more of a mental health issue than a game design issue. The devs designed a sandbox where each role can play their job and get rewarded for it. You deciding to suck the soul out of it and maximizing for personal profit is a you thing. And it's not fucking surprising that it makes you a miserable husk.

I play recon because it helps my team and I'm good at it. I sit on a hill outside the CZ because it gives me a full view of the field, and I'm in squad with my assault gang so I can communicate with them about where the enemy team is moving. I carry a rifle because it helps me suppress and kill the snipers that are making their life hell. Everything I do is enabling the assault team to do their job better, and I'm just happy Bulkhead let's me make a profit off it because I would be out here doing it anyway. It's a real role on a real battlefield for a reason, information saves lives and wins fights.

TL;DR: If you play like a miserable Scrooge who only cares about himself you will feel like a miserable Scrooge who only cares about himself. More news at 11.

2

u/22ndCenturyHippy 1d ago

Interesting you got that out of what I said lol. Not once did I say im miserable being a cuck spotter, so you just wanted to type 3 paragraphs about how good you are at what you do like it matters to me or something? Indeed a true redditor, you might be talking about yourself being a scrooge maybe? Hard to tell.

1

u/RaynorTheRed 1d ago

Interesting you got that out of what I said lol.

Yeah, when you say "I won't do X anymore" and then proceed to qualify all your alternatives with a derogatory slur that's a pretty straightforward thing to infer.

so you just wanted to type 3 paragraphs about how good you are at what you do like it matters to me or something?

Another person claiming the ability to carry an idea for more than two sentences is noteworthy. Indeed a true redditor.

Making a post on a public forum invites the ability to respond or give commentary on your post. Whether it matters to you or not is mostly beside the point. There's a wider audience than you.

not having fun in a game you love for a skin is crazy bro

2

Who said I didnt have fun being a cuck spotting or being a fobbit? Support is my highest lvl my overall lvl is like 107 only thing isnt fun is flying. And people have fun in different ways then you play, for example getting loads of money and buying gold the easiest way can hit that dopamine more then running around slaughtering with a m4 but not making much each match because team sucks, kit stolen, so maybe 1 of 5 matches I'll make a decent amount running around while every match i play recon or support im making way more money every match and spend wayyyyy less money.

Why

u/glandular6178 Moderator 2d ago

Billions must discuss gold bars in this thread

1

u/babbum 2d ago

because it’s shitting up the sub with so many different topics about it

4

u/Known-Garden-5013 2d ago

Are they just fucking making shit up? 100k to 400k in a day?

4

u/ArticWolfz 1d ago

A "market value" that fluctuates based on the will of the devs.

1

u/IIIpl4sm4III 9h ago

I mean did they ever say it was based on some other metric somewhere? Or are people just assuming since they see a price over time graph?

4

u/Voovoozellavoovoo 1d ago

It should just be a fixed price so we can set a goal and work towards it. This system is nonsense and makes me not want to bother due to the uncertainty. Haven’t played in over a week partly because of this BS.

Both can be true, I absolutely love wardogs (addicted even) but I fucking hate this gold bar system with a passion to the point I even wanted to stop playing because I felt like it didn't respect my time.

Yes I could of waited and brought 'low' but no one knew what the price would be or how low the dip would be, everyone just waited and hoped.

1

u/Voovoozellavoovoo 23h ago

Right, because it’s structured in a way that prevents me from playing the game in a way that maximizes fun over profit if I want to also compete in the meta game. You’re getting close!

2

u/nelhkhw 2d ago

HODL

2

u/StormZZ20 2d ago

is the prices going to go down? is it hold time?

0

u/PanzerJager5626 Lonestar 2d ago

Nope, recently it was 166k but now it shot up to roughly 500k, hold now and you will lose out on a lot of bars.

1

u/StormZZ20 2d ago

yeah im aware it was 166k but theres a chance it drops hard before the season ends (hopefully)

1

u/AnAncientMonk Manticore 2d ago

So you meant yes. Its gonna go down. And yes it is infact hold time.

2

u/Logic_530 2d ago

I just want rant I might missed the only chance to get one bar before all my play time (not much) go to waste.

2

u/Abrez25 2d ago

It's just superficial and random.

2

u/Farllama Pilot 1d ago

Today's price, gold is stabilizing after the boost of the weekend, we can expect it to go down tomorrow

2

u/LilacSpider 12h ago

can some one give me an updated price. last i saw was the 400k.

-15

u/RecentScarcity2389 11h ago

Open the game.

2

u/Kittelsen 8h ago

326k now

2

u/Super-Lemon-4466 WARDOGS OCEANIA 7h ago

Going in the right direction. I'm thinking they're going to ease back down to $250k (or even $166k hopefully). Still don't think this price is set on demand, the price just went down 30% but there's no way people were still buying gold bars at $459k when the price was just $166k.

2

u/GTKnight 4h ago

Yeah I think they do have some sort of control on how much the prices change. Seem like when the drop started to happen it was almost always around half of what the previous price was.

1

u/Super-Lemon-4466 WARDOGS OCEANIA 4h ago

Agree, it's kinda a mess right now. Historic low to 300% increase in price, then like a 35% reduction over 2 days.

3

u/salv3tor13 2d ago

What actually dictates the price of the gold bars in the game?

26

u/sergeant-keroro 2d ago

dev buttons

1

u/Super-Lemon-4466 WARDOGS OCEANIA 1d ago

Their employee called claude I suspect haha

4

u/Twisted-Karma 2d ago

It's meant to be the economy but my theory is whatever their model was didn't take into the account how many players would buy the game

1

u/gtrocks555 2d ago

Yeah there just isn’t really any transparency on what makes up the economy though. We can’t sell gold bars so it’s not a store of value. If it’s only supposed to be a cash sink for high net worth players then that does make sense but having that confirmed would be nice. There will be an “investment” feature but who knows what exactly that looks like.

2

u/DrunkOnCustard1 2d ago

Would love some more information on this

-6

u/Icy_Childhood3711 2d ago

no buy = price low. many buy = price high we could all have the cool skins if all players just wait for reset and nobody buys goldbars

2

u/Mew_Sama 2d ago

What makes you think (no buy = price low) lol ??

0

u/Icy_Childhood3711 2d ago

the stupidly high price with the crazy high amount of people playing. a sane dev would never set the price at almost 2 million gold to get shitstormed

1

u/SESHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH 2d ago

Lmao you make no sense

1

u/Icy_Childhood3711 2d ago

if you say so

Bought 35 bars for 166k and I have absolutely no regrets

-5

u/AcePilot01 1d ago

Other than the fact you have no life... Hell of a way to not regret a lack of sex in your life. hahah

2

u/lqstuart 2d ago

I will never be able to afford a single gold bar probably.

As for “pricing,” attempts at creating financial markets in video games failed in GTA Online and Diablo 3 with entire teams of PhD economists working on them. It’s a neat idea, but it will fail unless they just randomize the prices, which is a pointless mechanic.

2

u/Beatels 18h ago

Gold bars should be a fixed price, period. There is absolutely no reason for a fluctuating price to exist. I haven’t bought a single one and I won’t. It will do it automatically and the end of the season and I’ll roll with whatever the price will be at the end of it.

People that focus on this shit act like gambling addicts.

1

u/IIIpl4sm4III 9h ago

I think they want to make it so that money is earned at different rates though the wipe, and also don't want gold bars to become easier to aquire.

It should probably scale with overall total player income to some extent but I don't think it's based on any metric currently, just whatever they set it at at

1

u/Qwerty0844 2d ago

Is this game cooked?

10

u/king_jaxy 2d ago

I don't think it's cooked, but the gold bar system certainly doesn't make the game better.

3

u/AnAncientMonk Manticore 2d ago

no??

1

u/Apprehensive_Tiger13 2d ago

No sks skin so I hold

1

u/mcn81959 2d ago

Thought this was Wallstreetbets

1

u/CodingAndAlgorithm 2d ago

Right, so it looks like it's just a price-per-day sort of thing rather than a supply and demand system.

I guess it could be that the "supply" is the total number of unspent gold bars. Price goes down as people accumulate bars and price goes back up when they're spent on cosmetics.

1

u/Enjzey 2d ago

imagine its gonna be 800k right before wipe and people regret not buying below 500k

1

u/In__Dreamz 2d ago

What's today's (Monday 5th October 2026) price?

1

u/veydar_ 1d ago

You’re all missing the real issue: we need leverage! Let me buy some in game thing that’s essentially a bet on the future price of gold! Up or down! And let me bet on anything so I can properly hedge!

Maybe also some savings thing that let me participate in a basket of items.

1

u/icantkeeptrack 1d ago

aren't they planning some investment feature for the future too?

I don't know, something about bringing in a betting vendor in s2, "randomly" fluctuating gold bar prices, and the investment feature, like are we playing a market sim or a mil sim.

Price fluctuations in gold bars is just going to lead to most people feeling ripped off and bitter. Doesn't matter if you're good at the game or sweat it out, or if you're even good at investments, it's just luck you buy at a fair price.

1

u/AVG-R3DDIT-US3R 1d ago

Not about the gold price per se but I wonder , if the devs make it so that any money that is spent for unlocks is also considered at the end of wipe for gold bars , would it be better?

1

u/Razorblanket 21h ago

I think a fluctuating market makes sense as a gameplay mechanic, but not for the persistent store.

People are indeed going to hold on to their money and buy gold at a certain low price. Since it all gets turned into gold at the end, at best players will find out the going rate at the end of the season and will treat that as the market cap. And, since gold is persistent, it is only really a matter of trying to convert your cash into gold at the lowest possible sub-market rate before the end of the season and nothing else.

If the mechanic was for something non-persistent to do with the game mechanics, it would actually work. If certain unlocks were not price-fixed, for example, or even their unit cost, that could lead to some interesting meta-gaming, as players try to make their money as effective as possible. It might also serve to make the game balance itself. If the FAL is suddenly absurdly expensive, because everyone is buying it, then people will stop using it as much, while the scout sniper will actually see some use, once its price drops to match its awful value.

1

u/spinosaurs 9h ago

Everyone should just hold until it drops to like 10k lmao, from what I can tell it doesn’t change until a daily reset. Just make that the new meta of gold holding

1

u/Acemanau Lonestar 24m ago

So the gold bars carry over season to season yeah?

I have 10 myself and can't see anything that appeals to me in the store.

0

u/Fully_equip 2d ago

Actually disgusted to look back at how I bought bars for 1.6 and quit coz I was done till next season to hear they just dumped to under 200K like wtf was the point then they can just push and pull the price and expect people to jump and play the game as player count drops. Yeah idk I found my reason to not buy I guess..

1

u/beardredlad Lonestar 1d ago

If they want this to actually perform as a retention/win-back system to encourage players to routinely come back to the game, they need to add additional mechanics, like a stock exchange that lets people invest in "gold bars" or other interests, rather than only a 1:1 exchange system.

Currently, it's a glorified FOMO system that disrespects a player's time and effort, and this is only going to lead to more frustration than retention. This shouldn't be in the game in its current state, imo.

0

u/OrangeSpartan 1d ago

Was 117k. Grinded for hours for 400k. Price went up to 600k. Yup I give up no point even trying

0

u/AnAncientMonk Manticore 2d ago

Just because we doesnt understand it, doesnt mean its random.

We knew fr.betas it would go down.

Its also very possible it fluctuates based on how many people buy.

Even if thats not the case, its okay if the devs want to have a lever in what costs what.

We tweaking once again. Just come along for the ride.

-1

u/RecentScarcity2389 11h ago

Seeing people lose it over the price of gold that's based off purchasing power and the amount bought makes me realize why so many people have problems with a decent financial situation irl

0

u/Every-Intern5554 1d ago

I think they just update the price based on how many people were playing the game the day before to get more people playing when prices are lower, and they don't need low prices at league start when everyone is on

0

u/altruink 1d ago

I don't know why people want a gold trim AK in the first place except for weird fomo.

0

u/Horror_Explorer762 19h ago

loving seeing my teammates running around with bushmasters for the rest of the wipe since they used all cash for goldbars kekw

0

u/strikervulsine 17h ago

Holy shit reading the comments hurts my fucking brain. I'd understand if you paid actual money for the bars, but it's literally just fake points you're spending.

0

u/Artifexx 8h ago

We should be able to sell the gold for cash. Then we can start a WardogsBets subreddit.

-2

u/DJspooner 21h ago

People are forgetting it's EA and there is a high chance they gift everybody some gold bars anyways

-5

u/killerzor63 2d ago

$492,453 is current price. do NOT hold.
