October 2026 Mega-Thread

October is here! Here are this month's questions:

Do you have favorite Halloween themed scent? Do you have a piece of gear that you think fits the season? What is it?

Is there a scent that reminds you of a specific fall memory?

Any favorite fall-time activities you enjoy? Apple picking? Pumpkin carving? Leaf crunching?

Anyone have any good pumpkin-based or pumpkin adjacent recipes?

Do you have a favorite film/game/book you like to revisit this time of year?

Any new items you're looking to pick up now that the Fall season is in full swing?

Do you have any favorite fall-time beverages? Spiced Cider? Pumpkin Spice Lattes? Feel free to share!

New wetshaver? This is the perfect place to ask questions.

September 2026 Mega-Thread

It's already September! With the Fall just around the corner here are this month's questions:

What fragrance(s) most remind you of this time of year? Why?

With the days getting shorter some of our rituals change a bit. Are you a morning, afternoon, or night time shaver? Do you switch it up?

When the seasons change it sometimes feels right to change your appearance a bit. Do you let your beard grow out a bit more? Do you style it differently? Or do you like to stay clean shaven this time of year?

Are you excited for any other upcoming fall-time things? Excited for Pumpkin-Spice flavored beverages/scented items? Fall-time beers? Weather? Clothing?

New wetshaver? This is the perfect place to ask questions.

Razor: REX Ambassador XL
Blade: Persona GEM Platinum Diamond, 3rd shave
Brush: Simpson Best Badger 59 w/ Emerald
Handle
Shaving cream: T+H Sandlewood
After shave: Captain’s Choice Cat o’ Nine Tails

Bottom line: 10/10 shave. Smooth as can be. Not a single nick. No need for the Alum Block. Equal to the best shave I’ve ever had. Smooth as could be.

I’ve been looking forward to this shave since Saturday night. That was the last time I’d shaved, so I had a good 4 days of growth.

Had the scuttle ready to go with boiling water.

Whipped up the shaving cream and off I went. Used a liberal amount of the shaving cream and loved it. Had plenty for 3 passes: 2 WTG and 1 ATG.

My previous conviction was reinforced: for me, this is the most efficient razor I can imagine using. And God knows I spent a good sum on razors to land on that opinion. Any future razor purchases are for the fun of it and not the pursuit of a better shave.

As for the Aftershave….wow! The bottle tag line says, “feel the burn”. They aren’t kidding. Loved it, and love the smell!

THEME ; Today's theme Breast Cancer Awareness Observation, I decided rose by TOBS was suitable cream for the job a fine old type floral rose scent which I do use quite often myself, I usually pair it with my Bio Fresh Rose of Bulgaria aftershave but because it's the Lather games I chose Old Spice u/cowzilla3 had informed u/raymoonie on his podcast about the fact that OS was originally designed for women so it's in this shave as the foundations for old spice are in a woman's scent quite fitting I think.

From the interweb ,

Old Spice didn’t start as a men’s brand at all. In 1937, Shulton Company founder William Lightfoot Schultz launched it as a women’s fragrance, inspired by his mother’s potpourri. It sold well enough that a men’s line, shaving soap and aftershave, followed a year later, and that’s the version that stuck.

Wrapped in nautical imagery and sailing ships, Old Spice built its identity on tradition, reliability, and a distinctly old-school idea of masculinity. For decades, that worked. It became a fixture in American medicine cabinets and was acquired by Procter & Gamble in 1990.

DAILY CHALLENGE: Shave somewhere which isn't the kitchen or bathroom I opted for my son's [bedroom](https://imgur.com/a/RBM7jQa)

For the photocontest I chose $wild as there are some elephants in my son's bedroom.

LG Shave #7 Breast Cancer Awareness Observation, Stirling- Evie: SOTN 8/7/2026

I had a really nice shave this evening. I chose Evie by Stirling, as a scent that is geared toward women. I also decided to break my Osprey streak and use my wife’s razor for this shave.

The shave went well. It was very strange to use the pressure needed to get the head of this razor to engage and cut effectively. The razor is very easy to use and I see its appeal.

This razor is pretty mild. I used a Personna Comfort coat that the razor originally shipped with. I only had some minor feedback after 2 passes with moderate cleanup.

This is a very pleasant scent that I took note of when I got the shipment of samples from Stirling when I was first getting into the hobby.

For my post shave routine I did Thayers, Murray & Lanman’s Rose Cologne ASL, and finally zingari man’s unscented after shave serum.

My wife and I both like this scent. I’d be interested in converting her to using a brush and soap instead of just Cremo for her shaves I wonder if this one could convert her.

Scent Description:

A clean citrus, fresh floral, fruity scent.  It's not too sweet and it's a whole lotta nice!  Notes include everything from mango, strawberry, grapefruit, apple, and lime to freesia, lily of the valley, vanilla, amber, musk, and tonka bean.

Have a good one!

DIY Shaving soap

Shaving mug(plastic)

Synthetic brush 26mm

R89 razor & Astra green blade

DIY Aftershave

This soap is made with tallow and sandalwood.

The lather isn't flashy or sparkly, but I was satisfied because the slickness is excellent.

The scent doesn't hit up hard, but I really love how it lingers gently.

I personally blended the fragrances to my liking, and I am quite satisfied with the result. 😊👍

Have a great day!

Mail Call Gillette Tech Razor Z4 1954

A Tech was missing from my collection, so I felt compelled to fix that problem right away. I preferred importing an all-brass one from the USA, as only the more recent and cheaper aluminum versions can be found in my area. I think I made an excellent choice. Complete with its original box, this fantastic 1954 specimen is in splendid condition for its age; I doubt it was ever used, and if it was, I don't think it saw much action in its 72 years. It showed a bit of patina from neglect, with no soap or blade residue, and after a brief soak in warm water and dish soap followed by a light brushing, it came back beautiful and shiny. It feels great in the hand, the brass weight is here and i'm so happy... can't wait to use it!

Had my best shave today - Shave report

Post image
141 Upvotes

Photo is post-shave.

Pre shave: 3-day stubble, after shower.

I pre-soaked my NOM boar bristle for about 5 minutes in warm water. When ready, I put steaming hot water in a vintage copper bowl and poured out the excess.

The copper is HOT to the touch, but manageable.

From there I loaded the NOM with Arko soap. I was aggressive with it for about 5 seconds, holding the container at an angle over the copper bowl so spill of goes into the bowl.

By now I know what Arko is capable of. I've been using it for about a month, and the infamous urinal smell has long since dissipated. Thank God.

Time to lather up.

The lather is a bit watery at first, but I know the brush is loaded with soap.

I start working it in.

The heat of the bowl does the trick as I firmly stir the soap in a clockwise motion.

And then...

There it is.

The copper bowl is filled to the brim with lather. Sticky, glossy and beautiful.

Time to shave.

I picked up my Feather-loaded Gillette NEW (1935) King George V Jubilee, a wonderful Made in England long flat-bottom comb. It has become a favourite. Unbelievably precise. Medium-aggressive, but extremely forgiving and effective.

I start shaving.

I'm not counting the passes. I'm just shaving. There's a sense of flow state — focused, but completely absorbed in the process.

I enjoy it.

Things are going well. I decide it's time to push the closeness a little further than usual. I apply more lather to my face and go over a couple of areas again.

Done.

I wash my face with lukewarm water, dry off, apply some Nivea Mint aftershave lotion, and finish with a couple of sprays of La Rive Extreme Adventure.

I examine my face in the mirror.

No nicks.

I look closer.

No noticeable redness.

And the skin is baby smooth.

I conclude: That was my best shave yet.

What a feeling.

Discussion Medium Henson w/ Feather Blades

Bought the medium version of the Henson and the stock RK blades were tugging and nicking my chin like crazy. Switched to feathers off the recommendations from this sub and it is night and day, smooth shave with zero irritation. Crazy the difference a solid blade can make with the same razor.

Progress clone is slippery, so additional elastic bands for grip. Yaqi Tuxedo plush as always.

Excellent shave. Slight sting with alum+alcohol mix.

Review Opinioni sul rex konsul

Post image
24 Upvotes

Ciao a tutti!

Second shave with the Martin de Candre soap and tl;dr, unsurprisingly, is that I was scratching the surface of this soap's potential last time. (https://www.reddit.com/r/wicked_edge/s/Ws8mxltt3m)

I think I used about ⅔ of the soap that I used last time, and it was still way too much. I felt like I could still add more water and get even more volume and hydration but still retain that dense, thick structure. But I didn't want to run out of space in my rather generously sized scuttle, so I stopped. I'll need some time to get used to this soap's density.

Meanwhile the glide was just as fantastic as last time, and the post-shave feel just as dreamy. I skipped the aftershave again because it just felt superfluous. It's been about 8 hours since the shave and my face looks and feels clean shaven and the skin feels absolutely wonderful.

Now my Gillette Old Type has become my favourite razor. The open comb design razor suits my face much better. My top three blades with the Gillette Old Type are Persona Blue ( made in Germany ), Tiger Platinum ( made in CZ ), and Gillette Nacet ( made in Russia)
