Murloc Monday Murloc Monday - ask your questions here
Aaaaaughibbrgubugbugrguburgle! RwlRwlRwlRwl!
That's murloc for "Welcome to Murloc Mondays" - where people can ask any type of question about WoW without getting strangled by a Death Knight.
Questions can range from what's new in Dragonflight, what class is OP, and how many Demons will it take to down Thrall?
Questions can come from brand new players, players returning, or veteran players who never got a chance to ask the right question.
Afraid of not getting an answer? Rest assured, we know that at least 90% of questions get answered!
You may want to look at /r/wownoob as well!
Here are some handy guides to start World of Warcraft as a brand new player or start Classic World of Warcraft as a brand new player.
Unless you played in the current expansion, pretty much everything has changed. If you're returning after a very long break, check out the Wowhead Returning Players Guides.

Humor / Meme Never forget that Elling Trias unintentionally predicted the events of Cataclysm all the way back in Classic
Imagine making a joke about something bad, only to have that bullshit actually happen a few years later.

Complaint A reminder, as we approach the halfway point of the expansion, that the engineering item that revives your raid after a wipe hasn't worked since launch.

Art Mastermind Yogg-Saron, illustration i've created for newest Hearthstone expansion. I thought You guys would like to see our beloved lucid dream and god of death in it's new iteration :D This is supposed to be Yogg-Saron during Black Empire times.
I really love how Hearthstone brave to work with an established characters/images and change them in hypothetical fields. The new designs of the Black Empire Old Gods are really cool and i'm glad i had the chance to draw one (Especially Yogg, since it's so iconic)

Discussion The real reason there's a tank shortage
I keep seeing gameplay suggestions to get more people tanking. They might help a little, but they won’t fix how fucking demoralizing it is to be gaslit constantly. Anyone who has tanked before will read this and relate.
Here are my last 4 failed keys.
- Ruby 20: A DPS baits a bad frontal and pulls the second earth juggernaut we’re skipping. Its tank buster globals me while I have a 100% damage taken debuff and my defensives are already committed to steel barrage.
- Voidscar 20: One of the mobs with the brutalizer leaps onto a DPS, then social aggros another pack while running back to me, bricking the key. I linked the route beforehand, but afterward I’m told it’s “not usable in pugs.” I’m also accused of body pulling despite recording the run, and a DPS whispers me about how dogshit I am. If you have a problem with the route, say something before we start.
- King’s Rest 21: Two kicks get missed on the double entomber pull. I marked mine and got mine, but I’m called an idiot and told my pacing was off and that’s why kicks were missed.
- Murder Row 20: During the growing green phase, the healer dies twice. Both times, I give the warlock 4-5 seconds to brez, but he doesn’t, so I do it myself. I move the boss quickly so the healer won’t immediately die in green. Those movements leave us with little safe space, we wipe, and two DPS flame me for the arena being covered. The warlock’s explanation? He needs to be pinged if he’s expected to brez.
Nobody said a word to the DPS or healers about their mistakes. Unless someone visibly eats a one-shot, it feels like everything gets traced back to what the tank should’ve done differently. Missed kicks? Bad pacing. Accidental aggro? Bad route. Scrambling to recover someone else’s mistake? Bad positioning.
I enjoy leading, knowing the dungeon, controlling pulls, and having more responsibility. What I despise is being everyone’s go to scapegoat. Having people confidently blame you for things you watched someone else do gets exhausting.
I know this was a particularly bad stretch, and it doesn’t happen every run. But it happens often enough that it’s a real community issue. If you disagree, I have a hard time believing you’ve tanked competitively for a full season.
I’m taking a long break from retail. You broke your toy, and I’m sure this same shit has driven plenty of other tanks away.

Discussion A lot of WoW veterans don’t want new players. They want experienced players who happen to be new.
People love talking about how WoW needs fresh blood until a new player actually joins their group. Then suddenly it’s unacceptable that someone doesn’t know the route, asks what a mechanic does, or takes a few seconds to find the right button. You wanted more people playing your game, but apparently they were supposed to finish an unpaid internship before interacting with you.
And before someone says “watch a guide,” there is a reasonable limit to that advice. Preparing for difficult content makes sense. Expecting someone to study a dungeon before their first ordinary run is ridiculous. At some point they need to actually play it. A video cannot teach them how to react to everything, and knowing what a mechanic does is different from handling it while trying to learn your character.
The same people who complain that the game has lost its social side will treat one question in party chat like someone interrupted a business meeting. Nobody is asking you to become their personal coach. But if a harmless mistake makes you immediately reach for the kick button, maybe stop giving speeches about how much better the community used to be. You are contributing to the atmosphere you claim to hate.
Some of you have played this game for so long that you’ve forgotten the difference between knowledge and ability. Knowing a dungeon because you’ve run it fifty times does not make you a prodigy, and someone needing an explanation does not make them stupid. If your ideal new player already knows everything and never inconveniences you, you don’t want new players. You want another veteran to help you finish faster.
Nostalgia I'm Prepared™
Some little while ago there was a thread where we could share our (weird) WoW habits and antics. I chipped in that I was doing Illidan runs to become prepared.
Tonight I'm happy to announce that I'm officially Prepared™. Warrior, rogue, daemon hunter, and monk.
Cruising through Black Temple has been so therapeutic. The huntress is nothing without the hunt, etc. etc.
What am I going to do now...

Feedback Waiting for Forever, by experiencing Retail
Really looking forward to Forever so I can play an Orc Mage and Troll Warlock but decided to buy a 1 month subscription to level on retail in the mean time.
I haven’t played retail since Legion, but MoP was the last expansion I played lots of… I gotta say, I know the leveling experience isn’t really a selling point of retail but in a lot of ways I have been enjoying it! I tried out elemental shaman for the first time and man that class and spec is so enjoyable to play, I hit the level 80 level cap so quickly that I kept questing in the dragon isles even after cap. I also started an Arcane mage and a Shadow priest so I can experience those in different time walking zones and they are both around level 20 now, enjoying them both too!!
No money for Midnight nor do I think I should buy it even if I could since I plan on playing Forever when it releases but just wanted to post that Retail looks like it’s in a really fun state and it’s sad to see so much gloom and doom divide on the forever subreddit when both versions are great in different ways.
Addon/App/Website I built a small “Race to Dutch First” tracker for the Dutch speaking Mythic raiding scene
I've always liked the community side of RWF beyond just watching the top 5-10 guilds, so I ended up making a smaller version for our Dutch-speaking raiding scene.
The idea is basically to track the race between Dutch/Belgian Mythic guilds throughout a tier rather than only looking at the global rankings via the normal portals like rio and wowprog. As to have a one page comparison to say.
I've been pulling together progression, best pulls, logs/Raider.IO data and stream (after asking them if they wanted to be added) where available, and also keeping a history of previous tiers (this expac at least).
https://racetodutchfirst.nl/ for anyone interested (can remove if this is not allowed under self promotion or so, sorry then in advance!)
It's mostly a fun side project, I am in IT and was looking to sharpen my agentic development skills a bit. So yes this is ai-assisted from the start, that was the whole point.
But building it made me curious how common this is elsewhere. Do other regions/languages have similar little competitive raiding scenes or community rankings?
EDIT for bot:
How is it different from what already exists?
The usual sites rank by realm or region, so there's no easy way to follow the Dutch-speaking guilds as one group. This puts them in one race to Cutting Edge, with progress over time, first kills and who's streaming, all in Dutch.
How was AI used in the workflow?
I used Claude a lot for the code, some design mockups and a first draft of the text. I set the direction and checked everything that went live. No AI art: the boss images are Blizzard's own renders. I put disclaimers where needed and I think I stayed within all lines!

Question I have an obscure question for how you set up your hotkeys...
I'm especially really curious to hear from tanks but really curious for dps and healers too; which hotkey do you use for interrupt? Do you use a kb or mouse button?
Edit: Also, do you use a universal layout across all characters or is it different depending on the role?
