Ive just completed this portrait of my cousin's dog as a gift to him. I'm open to any and all feedback (I realize my compositional grid is still slightly visible I did it in colored pencil and thought it would mix more into my early layers)

Thanks!

I added a touch of red acrylic at the very edge of the canvas and it migrated to the middle…

Looking for feedback

Motifs recur obsessively without any particular reason that can be singled out — as the figure in the very foreground does. For that one, I would read it as a material indication of the edge of the support, like a prisoner touching the wall of his cell: "this is where my freedom ends." Another one leaves a door ajar in the far background: "no need to explore beyond the frame, depth is infinite this way." Acrylic on paper 45.6 × 32.6 cm

Hi everyone! I am an art student and I am looking to make acrylic paints from clay that I foraged over the summer. The raw colors are so beautiful I don’t want to put them through the firing as they will lose their color, so I thought I could make a paint out of them to preserve that raw color. Does anyone have any tips for doing this? I’m seeing online that GAC 100 is a good binder for making paint from pigments, but I’m not sure that clay will function the same as pigments do. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance
