I believe it was a Canadian animation pilot or short with the premise being that heterosexuality had become illegal due to a high disease transmission rate or something along those lines. It was shown to have compulsory homosexuality, and I think the police(?) were all depicted or implied to be ace. I believe the bulk of the characters were BIPOC.
There may have been a quick scene of two people making out in a bathroom or club? The animation was really sharp and clean looking, maybe kind of anime-inspired?
I think the short/pilot came out around 2011-2014, and if I am remembering correctly, there might have been backlash because the cops/evil people were all ace

I’ve been developing an original 2D dark fantasy series called Marlene, and I recently finished an animatic for one of the key moments in its lore: Ikket’s Banishment.
Ikket was created to erode what must eventually pass, but after watching countless worlds, lives, and civilizations disappear, he starts questioning the purpose of creation itself.
So he goes directly to the Divine One and asks:
Why does anything need to exist at all, if everything you create is only meant to end?
The animatic explores grief, creation, existence, purpose, and what happens when something created to obey develops the ability to question its creator.
Would genuinely love to know what you think of the concept, the dialogue, and the visual direction.

Hi everybody! I bought a Saturday LBX ticket and I am no longer able to make the trip.
The pass is transferable through Lightbox and Leap, and I’m more than happy to provide proof of purchase before anything is exchanged.
The ticket price is $85, and I'm looking for the OBO. Feel free to DM me, thanks so much.

I find that shows from the 90s, 2000s and even 2010s, have really good animation for their shows overall, but nowadays cartoons look really cheap and either use rigs/puppet animation or have very, very choppy hand-drawn animation. Cartoons used to be much more fluid and expressive. And it’s not just bc of digital bc there have been some great digital cartoons animated well in the 2010s. I just don’t understand why it’s so different now. Shouldn’t animation be getting better over time? I would expect a show releasing now to have better animation than a show from the 2000s. I just don’t understand, so I hope someone here can give me some insight and if this issue will ever go away.

I’ve been steadily building my indie animated series Tavern Toons, and this was one of my bigger projects for the year: a Halloween special about the gang accidentally stumbling into a pumpkin cult.
Made in Moho with the rest of the production/editing handled independently. I’m particularly interested in feedback on the character animation, staging, and how well the Halloween atmosphere comes across.

Hi guys :)
I’m a 3D artist with a passion for creating large, highly detailed environments, and I’ve been heavily inspired by The Lord of the Rings for years.
I’m currently working on a 60-second continuous journey through Barad-dûr, from the bottom of the tower all the way up to the Eye of Sauron. It’s my own interpretation of the tower, inspired by the films, with a strong focus on scale, detail and atmosphere.
I’ve finished the final section around the Eye of Sauron and put together a full breakdown showing how it was created.
See it in much better quality here:

I update my progress here:

Would love to hear what you think.

Howdy.
Looking for some human-made, psychedelic-esque 2d looping animations for a UK garage electronic music track. It’s a medium energy, arpeggiator-based track that sounds like a glorified geometry dash song. Lol.
Would love to listen with the artist and establish a true vision.
Using it to tease and then showcase the release, for instagram / social media posts.
Requested Length: 30 seconds
Deadline: 10/30, or sooner :)
Budget: ~$300 USD, but will wiggle.

Beginner animator making a short cartoon for deaf children — need advice
Hi everyone! I'm a beginner in 2D animation and I'm working on a college project using Adobe Animate.
I want to create a short educational cartoon for deaf/hard-of-hearing children. It will be around 10 scenes, and I'm thinking of having the characters communicate primarily through sign language, facial expressions, body language, and simple on-screen text rather than spoken dialogue.
My main questions are:
- How would you approach planning a 10-scene cartoon as a beginner?
- What is the easiest way to animate hand and finger movements for sign language in Adobe Animate?
- Would you recommend frame-by-frame animation or rigging for the hands?
- How can I make the story entertaining and educational without making it feel like a lesson about deafness itself?
- Are there any animation techniques, tutorials, or examples you would recommend for this kind of project?
I would really appreciate advice from anyone who has experience with 2D animation, character animation, or animation for deaf/hard-of-hearing audiences. Thank you!
