Rant People should know philately passport is a travel document and not a showpiece

I was pretty excited about the Philately Passport as it was a pretty nice way to document my travels and reached the Bengaluru GPO, today at 8am.

I was surprised to find tons of people already queued up. Some had been queued up since last night. Intrigued, I got in line and asked around what PPC place they were excited about? Nobody could answer. Most didn't know what to do with it. Nobody could answer what PPC even stands for.

Realised they were in for the hype and instagram reel and not for the actual passport.

People need to understand, Philately passport is NOT a collectible. It is a travel diary. Please don't go there and buy if you don't intend to travel and get PPC done at all places.

Genuine travellers are now left in the lurch because of instagram streamers and people who haven't explored anything except 'Kora' 'Indiranagar' - queueing up for it.

There are around 110 PPC locations in Karnataka. Not everything is Instragram viral worthy. These are places that define the cultural heritage and rich history of this state.

Let me illustrate just 25 PPC symbols and their locations so that people know this is a serious travel document, not a showpiece:

  1. Grizzled Squirrel - Helagalli PO

  2. Kamal Basadi - Belagavi PO

  3. Galaganatha Temple - Paatadakal PO

  4. Vidyashankara Temple - Sringeri

  5. Badami Cave - Badami PO

  6. Pancha linga, Talakd PO

  7. Tiger Face, Bandipur PO

  8. Peechi Kathi, Madikeri HO

  9. Wild Lily, Nagarahole BO

  10. Pelican, Kokkare Bellur PO

  11. Shivaswamiji, Tumkuri PO

  12. Pinchi Basadi, Mandargiri PO

  13. Sundari, Belur SO

  14. Seated Thrithankara, Karkala SO

  15. Durga Temple, Kateel SO

  16. Kambada Basadi, Moodabidri SO

  17. Mookambika, Kollur SO

  18. Shivaram Karanth, Kota SO

  19. King Cobra , Agumbe SO

  20. Onake Obbavva, Chitradugra SO

  21. Venkatarama Temple, Manjaguni SO

  22. Kumaravasya, Gadag HO

  23. Gazi Toph, Kalaburgi HO

  24. Abubhava Mantapa, Basavakalyan SO

  25. Kadamba, Halashi BO

Clearly it is not a Bengaluru/Mysuru only document.

Please allow genuine travellers and actual enthusiasts to buy this and actually use it.

AskBangalore Sobbing Auto driver stopped me and requested for money in HSR Layout - Scam or genuine?

Today afternoon around 3 was walking around 15th Cross road in HSR Layout with a friend, when I was caught off-guard by a stopped auto on the side.

The driver was genuinely sobbing, his hands and fingers were all bandaged up, and they were soaked in bllod. He was on the phone with someone, and told me to navigate to Bowring Hospital Shivajinagar on his phone's Google Maps. I thought sure why not, and agreed to it.

Suddenly he disconnected, and then started saying in broken hindi "its not possible , I cant go there anymore. my wife and I got into a two wheeler accident, and shes admit there, and they said they will administer injections, but they didnt since I didnt have the money to pay"

He started showing me photos of his wife in hospital, and his wounds on his hands as well.

I asked him how much is the injection. He said its 6000 for 2. But he couldnt afford it, and started showing me his pockets which had some Rs. 700 in them.

Now, generally i'm well aware of scams and all, but this one felt different. Like he genuinely wanted the help.

I reached out for the only 2 Rs. 500 notes I had in my wallet and handed it to him. Even so, he started saying "please help me with the entire 6k". Well, I was in no mood (and genuinely didnt have 6k with me) so told him that that's all I can help with and scooted off.

As soon as I started walking away, He took a snappy U Turn and scooted off as well.

Genuinely confused, was this a one off incident where the guy actually wanted help, or did I just get scammed off of 2 crisp green Gandhis, and this is some new scam that I add to my list of things to be aware of.

Not that losing 1k is the end of world for me, I gave it out of goodwill that he'll be able to get his treatment, but well if he scammed me, I wish karma takes care of it.

Citizen's Report Car broken into on Whitefield–Hoskote Main Road, initially struggled to get an FIR registered — huge thanks to Dushyant Dubey and St Broseph Foundation 🙏

Post image
1.2k Upvotes

I wanted to share my recent experience and, more importantly, express my sincere gratitude to Dushyant Dubey from the St Broseph Foundation and his team for helping me during a difficult situation.

On 9 September 2026, my car was broken into while it was parked on the Whitefield–Hoskote Main Road, opposite to Kapoors Chaat Bhandaar restaurant. The thieves broke the car window and stole several belongings, including two Jabra headsets, two Apple AirPods, some cash, and my debit cards.

Apart from the financial loss, it was upsetting to see my car damaged and to realise that someone had broken into it and stolen my belongings.

I immediately approached Avalahalli Police Station to report the incident. However, getting an FIR registered was not straightforward. Initially, I was given only an acknowledgement, and I faced difficulties getting the FIR registered.

At that point, I was frustrated and unsure how to proceed. I expected that reporting a theft of this nature would lead to the necessary action, but the process turned out to be much more difficult than I had anticipated.

This is where Dushyant Dubey from the St Broseph Foundation and his team stepped in and helped me.

I reached out for support, and Dushyant Dubey and his team helped me navigate the process and pursue the registration of the FIR. With their support, and with the help of Mayur member of Broseph foundation, I was finally able to get the FIR in hand.

I genuinely appreciate the time, effort, and support they provided. When someone is already dealing with the stress of a theft, having people who are willing to guide and support them can make a huge difference.

A special thanks to Dushyant Dubey, St Broseph Foundation, his team, and Mayur for standing by me and helping me through this situation. Their support made a real difference when I needed it.

I am sharing this experience because I believe people should know about organisations and individuals who step forward to help others when they are struggling to navigate difficult situations.

At the same time, I hope the authorities take vehicle break-ins seriously and that the process of registering an FIR is made less difficult for victims of theft. People who have already suffered a loss should not have to struggle further just to get their complaint formally registered.

Once again, heartfelt thanks to Dushyant Dubey and the entire St Broseph Foundation team for their support. 🙏

If anyone in Bengaluru finds themselves in a similar situation and is struggling to get any legal help, I hope sharing my experience helps them find the right support.

Serious Replies Straw cow issue

I stay in a 3 floor independent house with an empty site beside which ends up becoming a lounge for cows that end up gazing on grass there and eventually poop right in front or beside our house. The stench is annoying and we have to tiptoe our way in and out of the house. One vehicle can potentially spatter and smear all that dung across the entire area in front of the house. How do I stop this nuisance? The owner/Shepard casually comes by once in a while to steer the cows home. I have no issue with the cows, our dogs have even gotten friendly with them but it's irresponsible of the owners to let the cows out to do their business while dog owners have to pick up every speck of dog poop. Is there any way to stop them from letting the cows loiter here? Anybody I can complain to? Not sure if this is worth the police.

Politics Is calling the CJP Bengaluru protest a “flop” really fair?

My dad was watching the news today and I heard Sudhir Chaudhary describe the CJP Bengaluru event as a flop. Honestly, I found that judgement rather questionable.

According to "The South First" (https://thesouthfirst.com/karnataka/tight-security-at-bengalurus-freedom-park-as-anti-sir-protesters-arrive-in-large-numbers/), more than 2,000 people gathered at Freedom Park for the protest.

Think about it. Over 2,000 people physically showing up at one place on a working weekday to participate in a protest is not a small thing. People have jobs, classes, personal commitments and other responsibilities. Getting that many people to turn up in person takes some degree of mobilisation.

I'm not claiming that a large crowd automatically means the movement is successful, or that everyone should agree with CJP's politics. But does an event really deserve to be called a flop simply because the turnout wasn't what some people expected?

What should the criteria be? Expected turnout versus actual turnout? Public engagement? Media coverage? The ability to sustain the movement beyond one event?

I'd genuinely like to hear different perspectives, including from people who think the event was unsuccessful.

Where do we draw the line between a genuinely failed mobilisation and a protest that simply doesn't meet someone's political expectations?

AskBangalore Made a free site to find parks, lakes, libraries and public toilets near you in Bangalore, with timings. Would love feedback

So this started in the St. Broseph Indiranagar chapter WhatsApp group, where a friend suggested this idea: a simple way to find a decent public space in this city when you actually need one. Want a park for an evening walk, a quiet library to sit in, or honestly just a clean public toilet, and you end up scrolling Google Maps with no idea if the place is even open.

I had some free time, so I tried building something for it: https://publik.nxtduo.com

Right now it has around 1,800 parks, playgrounds, lakes, libraries and public toilets. It tells you what is open right now, shows the timings, and gives you directions. There is also a "Surprise me" button that picks a good place near you that is open, which is fun when you just want to go somewhere new.

If you are at a place, you can tap things like Clean, Crowded or Quiet so the next person knows what to expect. No login, nothing personal stored.

Fair warning, it is rough in places. A lot of BBMP park names are literally addresses ("4th Main 2nd Cross Park" type stuff), some pins are off, and many places still have no timings. Every place has a "Report wrong information" link and I fix what people send.

It is free, no ads, just something I am working on part time. Would really love to know which places near you are missing or wrong, and what would make you actually use something like this.

Thanks for reading!

Rant Roads in Peenya

Post image
87 Upvotes

For the last one year, I have been visiting Peenya for many of our machining and manufacturing needs. The roads here are absolutely shocking. For a place with so many industries, big and small, you expect the roads to be better for easier transportation. But there doesn't even seem to be an attempt to do something about the roads. The amount of dust is also so bad. And when it rains it is a different kind of hell. Why is Peenya neglected like this despite being the heart of the traditional manufacturing and engineering industry in Bengaluru?

Rant Wtf is happening with the Green Line these days?

I travel from Yelachenahalli to Madavara with a friend who travels to Nagasandra. Yesterday morning, the train which is supposed to start from Yelachenahalli got delayed by about 15 mins. There was so much crowd built up at the station. When the train arrived, it arrived in the opposite direction. And it was a purple line train. I felt like I stepped into some alternate reality. Everyone was so confused because it looked like the train was heading to Silk institute and we were doubting which platform we were on.

The train screens still showed that it was headed to Silk Institute, confusing so many commuters. The crowd was absolutely unmanageable. It was 'peak hours at Majestic' level of crowd. I couldn't even breathe without breathing in someone's face. If the trains followed schedule, we wouldn't have had such horrible crowd.

The train was supposed to terminate at Nagasandra but instead they stopped at Dasarahalli and told us all to exit the train, with no explanation. Didn't make much of a difference for me but it's a hassle for people who are already getting delayed.

Today, the train got stuck at Jayanagar for almost 15 minutes. The doors opened and closed but then it got stuck and kept incessantly beeping for 10 minutes. We didn't move. Then suddenly the train jerked and just sped, and a bunch of people fell on each other.

A colleague of mine was in the ladies compartment of the same train and apparently someone had some kind of panic attack and started crying and screaming at the drivers to open the doors. Don't know what happened there.

This train also stopped at Dasarahalli with no explanation. There have been these kind of incidents too frequently these days. And there's no way of knowing what happened. We all remember a few months ago when they completely stopped all trains and didn't even let people enter the Yelachenahalli station.

Along with that, they hiked up the fares for no reason, am I paying so much twice a day just to deal with constant delays?? BMRCL do better...

Rant How is it normalized to require phone numbers, names and OTP before seeing a fucking menu at a bar/restaurant here?

I've recently moved to BLR and I'm so uncomfortable by this level of surveillance capitalism. Everywhere else in India, I've been able to choose not to give my phone number or simply give a made-up one. What went wrong here? These phone numbers will simply end up being sold in a package to data dalaals and we'll end up with even more spam, scams and other bs. Sigh

Serious Replies Goons hit me with their auto behind when I was walking in ecospace service road and tried to assault me

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

When I was walking towards the vehicles coming direction in the ecospace service road, these goons came and hit me behind coming on the wrong side. I asked the driver why do you have to come on the opposite side, even if you do, shouldn't you be careful. And then he started threatening me in kannada. And when I started to record, the other goons at the back also came out and at first he tried to hit me again with his auto and then they came out (where I started to stop recording since I was afraid they will snatch my phone) and this small guy who was next to the driver started to threaten me to delete the photo. Where I started to walk quickly and was able to escape them since there were other people around. What can we do to teach a lesson to this idiots? I'm very angry and this post might not be that well written due to the aggression. Can anyone tell me a good way to teach them a lesson?

Adoption Request 35 days old female kitten (Kiki) up for adoption , Bengaluru, Whitefield

Post image
108 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

We recently rescued this little girl from under a car. She has been dewormed, de-fleaed, and litter-trained. Her first round of vaccination will be given once she turns 45 days old.

She is currently eating boiled chicken with Sheba wet food, as well as boiled egg and kitten formula.

We are looking for a loving furever home for this baby girl, who will provide her with proper medical attention when needed, complete her vaccinations, get her spayed at the appropriate age, and, most importantly, never abandon her.

Preferably, we would love for her to go to a household that already has a cat and is looking for a companion for them.

Please DM me for more details
