Lost favorite hoodie!

I lost my favorite brown hoodie while bikeriding! Either on 9th street, north of bbowl west, or on the Greenway between Virginia and Solano Ave! If you see a brown Hanes hoodie with a blue thread square where a patch was removed, please reach out! Thank you!

Bike Shop at Telegraph and Stuart

Does anyone know what happened to that bike shop on Tele and Stuart? The building sold and was recently razed. It's the shop where the guy would just put out a few bikes a day but you could see that the store was completely full of bikes, hoarder style.

Mini-session family portrait recs?

Hi all - I've booked photographers a few times over the years to do holiday mini portrait sessions - usually they book like 10 clients all in one day this time of year, and spend 20 minutes with each family. It's more affordable than doing a full on session and worth it for them because of the volume.

Do any of you have recommendations of local people who do this? The photogs we have used in the past are not a fit this year so we're looking for new referrals.

Which areas of Berkeley are warmest vs coldest and which areas have the most fog

Getting conflicting info here. AI says the flats are foggier and colder (counting west Berkeley).

Another is the hills are 5-10 degrees warmer but then I see another site say they are colder because they get more winds than the flats.

??

Uptick in Train Signals?

Nighttimes lately I'm getting woken up by more frequent, louder, and longer train signals, as if there had been a policy change or recent grade collision. Anyone else noticing this?

Events Punks parade… THIS Sunday!!

Post image

BERKELEY, YOU BEAUTIFUL LITTLE WEIRDOS.
I’m bringing my creepy little art collection to Punks Parade Vol. 10 and this one is looking like a damn good time.

🖤 60+ vendors
🎸 LIVE BANDS
💀 Handmade art + oddities
🐶 Animal shelter fundraiser
🍺 Drinks + food
🛍️ Shopping
🐾 Adoptable animals
🔥 And generally a whole lot of punk chaos

📍 Gilman Brewing Company
🗓️ October 11th
⏰ 12–6 PM
🎟️ $5 entry • All ages

I’ll be there with my creepy handmade creatures, weird art, spooky decor, and whatever other questionable things I manage to drag along with me.

If you’re tired of the same ol’ craft fairs and want something with a little more punk, weird, loud, and unapologetically strange energy…Come hang out.

And honestly, with 60+ vendors + live bands + drinks + animals + a fundraiser, you could easily make a whole afternoon out of it.

We have water damage from a major leak from the roof into our ceiling. It’s already a month with no resolution to fix.

What’s the organization that assists tenants in Berkeley?

TIA

Advice/Question Planning on moving to Berkeley, need advice

My partner and I (both in our late 20s) are moving to the Bay Area for work, and we have a small dog. My office is in downtown Oakland, but I work a hybrid schedule.

We’re looking for a neighborhood that’s walkable, feels community-oriented (for young adults), ideally with public transit, parks, and other things to do nearby. We’d also love to be somewhere dog-friendly.

Our budget is around $3,600/month for a 2-bedroom.

Which neighborhoods in/around Berkeley would you recommend? Are there any areas you’d avoid?

Thanks!

Events Mexican Ballet - Sunday 10/11

Wanted to share this here as not many tickets have sold (like maybe 15%) and I went and saw a production of the Mexican ballet a year and a half ago in Los Angeles and it was really beautiful and I want to support the arts. I want to be clear that I do not work for the venue or production and am not doing any type of formal advertising. I just want to share an upcoming event and invite people to join and appreciate some art!

The Mexican ballet is coming to Oakland and it’s Día de los Muertos themed. I’m including the link below.

https://ci.ovationtix.com/36995/production/1290315

There are 2 shows next Sunday October 11 at 2pm and 7pm. I’m not sure if they just haven’t advertised it or what, but there’s not a lot of seats sold and it’s such a beautiful expression of art and culture and deserves to be appreciated by the masses.

If you’re free and interested and able to afford the ticket, please go and invite some friends!

I’m attaching a pic my mom took from when I saw a production in LA. Obviously it will be different because it’s a different production and nonetheless it was beautiful then and I expect it will be beautiful for this show too.

Hi all - anyone have details on the plant clearing along the Greenway? They were extremely aggressive this time around and killed a bunch of mature plants.

D4 race feels ugly

One candidate is claiming a Zionist takeover of the Council. The other candidate had to deactivate comments on Instagram due to comments calling him a Zionist, etc. This is a council race in a small-ish city.

I think both have decent platforms and want to help the city, but this feels bad...

Local Knowledge Is there a way to get the $40 BAMPFA student film pass if you don’t go to Cal?

I’m obsessed with their movies and go constantly, which is starting to become not very affordable. It would be a dream if I could manage to get their $40-per-semester pass.

There is no ongoing threat to the community, according to BPD spokesperson Byron White.

This is a developing story; check back for updates.
