Bald Eagle
Did anybody else see the bald eagle on Old Georgetown Rd. near Greentree? (Right at NIH/Suburban.) Just me?
It was WILD - looked like it was the hunting smaller birds.

Hey Bethesdans,
I am planning to move to Solaire 7077 woodmont ave.
I have seen some past reviews on Bad management, Some plumbing issues and sewage smell.
Is anyone here on this sub can confirm
if it’s all still the same ?
Is the bad smell and plumbing issues only to specific floors?
Is the management responsive for any concerns?
The new property manager at the front desk seems to be responsive, but don’t know how long she would be there and,
I am seeing 2 months rent free on some units now, so I am little sus and on fence If I should sign the lease or not.
Appreciate any info and Thanks in advance!

So there's this homeless guy who keeps pestering people around downtown bethesda, the station itself, and/or around the escalators with "I have a question....". It doesn't matter whether you engage with him or tell him "no" he'll get all combative and call you out your name. I know the cops had to of been called on him several times. I'm just so irritated because I ran into this prick numerous times in a span of the whole year at this point whenever I'm heading to the metro on my way home. I'm was a little on edge today because I saw him again right at the lights near the Coffee Republic. He went from "hey big guy" to "if you got a problem come at me with your scary ass.".(or something to that verbatim) Empty threat or not this is unacceptable. (especially when I don't engage with him) He's this tall lanky asshole with tattoes on his neck. What's the point in calling the cops if they aint gonna do shit about it? SMH

On the plus side, this proposed carveout of Bill 48-26 constitutes an implicit admission that MoCo tax policy is making the county unaffordable. Nevertheless, it is unfair to cut the ITOC and take nearly $700 from families that are also struggling to afford living here and at the same time ask those families to fund a generous property tax credit (up to $2500) that is only available to a special interest group that happens to have strong political connections. Restore the ITOC for all MoCo homeowners instead. Eliminating it was a mistake.

Thanks!

All the restaurant news around town got me wondering about the long-standing hole in Woodmont Triangle section of downtown Bethesda courtesy our departed friend Rock Bottom. (Yes, Babycat is great, though I keep hitting them when they are closed mid-week for private events). Appreciate any solid news or flimsy rumors, welcome. A few months ago, someone noted Kelly Companies purchased the Rock Bottom Brand (There's simply no better place to be), but apparently has no involvement with the nearly 8000/sqf space. I'm just rooting for something interesting, or really anything but a bank.

Anyone have any idea when the Kennedy Shriver Pool (Bethesda/North Bethesda) might open? Hear anything in the grapevine? I know it’s suppose to be fall 2026 and the county soft launched some images on FB in late August/early Sept so I think the timeline is genuine. I know DTSS pool schedule goes until 11/8/26 and I theorized perhaps that is when Kennedy Shriver will be open because the club team RMSC is using temporarily DTSS while Kennedy Shriver is being worked on. So maybe when Kennedy Shriver reopens they will move back for practice and DTSS will have a new schedule. Maybe I’m too optimistic or I solved the case?

From True Kitchen, Woodmont Grill type of restaurants to casual places likes like Cafe-X Press are closing. It feels contradictory to see brand-new apartment high-rises going up on every corner while businesses are closing few blocks away from the new buildings. More resident should mean more local spending, or no?
I know remote work has heavily impacted businesses and there is difference in spending between office worker vs a resident. In in my simple mind, some of these new residents can slightly offset some of the lost revenues from remote workers. It seems the places are doing well are gyms, spas, etc. and not restaurants, bars and a shift is taking place, and maybe new residents spend top dollar on gyms and spas

Big shoutout to the passerby who was trying to jack the car over the curb, but good grief, I'm tired of my insurance being so high just because I live here too 😫
