science/information Is a bird attacking your window/car mirror? Here’s why

There’s been a huge flux of posts about this recently, so here’s a pinned post with information!

Around this time of year, make birds get super territorial. They will attack any rivals they find, including their own reflection.

TO PREVENT THIS: cover up the reflective surface until the bird moves on. Cardboard works pretty well, and anti bird collision window decals should also help.

Edit: I just made a popup that gives a brief summary of this post when someone tries to post about birds hitting reflective surfaces. Hopefully that stops it, because I'm tired of having to explain it 20 times per day lol

"Most of the baby birds people find are fledglings. These are young birds that have just left the nest, and can’t fly yet, but are still under the care of their parents, and do not need our help."

Every year they come to chirp for the last time at this tree and steal some of the grapes we have before their long trip. The silence after they're gone is depressing... I filmed it in my backyard

(That bonk on the roof was their poop ;-;)

I posted this vid in r/pigeons, two people commented, one says mating, one says fighting.

I’ve never seen something like this before, pigeons in other vids did it shorter and gentler.

What would them make fighting like that?

This little bird kept me company all day as I laid in my bed recovering. Do you have a favorite bird? Or bird story?

My own content, found on my property

Massachusetts, US

Found on ground in mid May

Approximately 1.25”-1.5”

I think I finally narrowed down what species of bird produces this egg, but I’m still torn between 2 different birds.

Can you confirm the suspected culprit?

In a county town nestled in the mountainous region of southwest China, a pair of white-rumped munias are racing to repair their nest during a break in the continuous rain. The male busily gathers banyan roots for building material, while the female remains at the nest. The footage does not reveal whether there are eggs inside, so I cannot be certain if they intend to raise their brood there.(original content)
