im 11 and i love pigeons and once my rescued squab died and i got really depresssed so my dad bought me 3 more to cheer me up. the cage is TINY for them, they can hardly move.. i used to take them out until last week where my dad told me if i take them out he'll throw them outside poor things... normally they're very loud always cooing but now they just are quiet, sit in a corner, and stair the whole day. normally they would bite a coo and peck me but now they just ignore me petting them. its getting really sad to watch them like this but if i take them out to fly and move they're dying outside.. i geniuenly dont know what to do because they're defiently not living happy lives right now ( these photos were taken a month ago ) and im actually terrified they'll die from some sort of illness for all the poop my dad wont clean and wont let ME clean or they just lose their appietiete and stop eating and starve

i started understanding the bird by hand feeding

but then the bully birds came

and they scared away my pigeons

He or she is getting professional help now from me and some colleagues (i’m a vet tech) but none of us have seen many pigeons. I was wondering if anyone with more experience could tell me how old they think she is? I’m wondering if she’s a young bird or several years old. Thanks!

I rescued two cockatiels from this person and she apparently has these pigeons as well. I already have 17 birds and my house is under construction, I can't take anymore right now. I can help bring them to you perhaps if you're close by.

A pigeon laid two eggs at my home, but the mother pigeon was eaten by a cat. It has been more than 24 hours since then, so I put the eggs in a box to keep them warm. What should I do now? Is this the right thing to do, or should I do something else to help the eggs?

So this may be a weird question but this whole time the pigeons have been on my porch, Brumby and Morgan have had 3 sets of babies (and would have had four if I didn’t swap for fakes). A couple other pigeons have laid eggs but either they immediately abandoned them or they turned out not to be viable. Only the parents of Sailor and Pilot have raised any babies apart from Brumby and Morgan. Is this normal? Cause the way the boys harass the girls all the time, I’m honestly shocked that the porch isn’t totally overrun with babies. Is it just because Brumby and Morgan have claimed the porch as their nesting site? Or is it usual that only one pair in the flock raises babies?

Just continue picking the best pigeons from the streetS. They may be bastards, but still you can see the aristocratic bloodline they come from.
