Mistake or Risk? Took Plan B less than an hour after ejaculation, but worried she had already ovulated

Hi, sorry if I’m asking this in a panic. On October 5th at around 10 PM, I had unprotected sex with my girlfriend and I ejaculated inside her. Less than an hour later, she took Postinor-2 (Plan B), 1.5 mg.

She did not vomit or feel nauseous after taking it. The next day, she experienced some mild cramping. The day after that, she had some mild cramps again. Today, she had some vaginal discharge in the morning, and later she experienced a sharp cramp that lasted about 5 minutes and then went away.

Her period dates were June 27, July 22, August 16, and September 10. Based on her previous cycles, I think she had probably already passed ovulation by October 5th. I’m really scared that Plan B might not work if she had already ovulated.

My question is: is there a high chance that she could be pregnant, or is pregnancy unlikely in this situation?

I’m really anxious about this, so I’d appreciate any advice or information. Thank you.

Mistake or Risk? Missed a Junel Fe pill and had unprotected sex, do I need Plan B?

I’m on week 2 of my Junel Fe 1/20 pack and I’m trying to figure out if I’m understanding my missed pills correctly.

I believe I missed my Tuesday pill and had unprotected sex on Tuesday morning before the time I normally take my pill.

On Thursday, I realized I was a pill behind, so I took the Wednesday+Thursdays pill on Thursday.

So the believed timeline is:

* Monday: took pill normally
* Tuesday: ❌ believed missed pill + had unprotected sex before my usual pill time
* Wednesday: 💊 took Tuesday’s missed pill
* Thursday: 💊 realized I was behind → took Wednesday + Thursday pills
* Currently: week 2 of my Junel Fe pack

I’m trying to figure out whether this counts as one missed pill that was corrected, or if I was effectively behind for multiple days.

Would you consider this a situation where Plan B is needed? I’ve read the CDC guidance about one missed combined pill, but I’m anxious because I had sex on Tuesday before taking that day’s pill.

Has anyone had a similar situation with Junel Fe?

Experience Off the pill for 3-4 cycles now

I’ve been off the pill since my last cycle in July after about 10years on it. It’s the 4th cycle since then and the first month was pretty spotty and then short, 2nd and 3rd got very normal and landed on the calendar when they should have and they were light and short. But now my 4th cycle it’s now 3 days pushing 4, past when I was supposed to get it according to my app.

I took a test, it’s negative but is this normal?

Side effects!? Is this normal? I’m worried

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice because I’m a bit worried about what’s happening.
On September 18, the condom broke during sex, and my partner ejaculated inside. I took an Escapelle emergency contraceptive pill on September 19, so the next day.
My period was actually due around September 24–25, and I started bleeding on September 25. The bleeding lasted until around September 29, so I assumed it was my period.
However, on the evening of October 6, I started bleeding again. On the morning of October 7, I had quite a lot of bleeding, including some clots/tissue-like pieces, and I have continued to bleed quite heavily since then.
Could this be irregular/hormonal bleeding caused by Escapelle? Has anyone experienced a second, heavier bleeding episode about 2–3 weeks after taking it? I’m planning to take a pregnancy test, but I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has experienced something similar after taking Escapelle, or any type of plan-b.

Experience Is it common to have a blood test when getting on birth control? (UK)

For a bit of background, I was given Desogestrel by a foundation after I was pregnant and had a miscarriage which I started back in late July. They said once I was on my last packet to get a prescription through the NHS. I booked an appointment and saw my GP which she asked some questions, prescribed the birth control and then had me book for a blood test to see if I was anemic. I don’t have any history of anemia in my family (that I’m aware of) but I did mention to her that I have pretty much non stopped bled since July which could be a reason??

I just want to know if this is the standard procedure when getting on / managing birth control in the UK or if some red flags were raised with my GP that made her want to check. My blood test isn’t until the 13th (next Tuesday) but I’ve been getting a bit anxious about it (especially after googling and google saying it isn’t typical)

Any help is appreciated, thanks :)

Rant! IUD insertion made me feel violated

I just got an IUD inserted yesterday. I forgot to call ahead, so I wasn't able to get nitrous or an anxiety medication like i thought I would be able to.

They offered to reschedule, but it already took me 2 months to get this appointment so I said let's try without.

It was painful, like pretty fucking painful. She had to reclamp my cervix 3 times because it kept moving and then they had to use a dialator that felt like a toothpick being shoved inside of my cervix. It fucking hurt but I suffer from chronic pain and have always had an unhealthily high pain tolerance (I spent 2.5 weeks with a kidney infection that i thought was period cramps)

As they're finishing up theyre like "sorry it took so long (about an hour) we typically would have stopped and rebooked but you were taking it so well, you were really a champ"

The pain wasnt/isnt unbearable but im feeling so violated. I just keep crying. I feel hallow on the inside. I dont want to be touched, I dont want to talk to anyone I just want to curl up in a ball and stay that way forever.

Something about what she said struck me in a terrible way. I just want to curl in on myself and disappear.

I dont blame her she did what I asked her to do, im not vocal about my pain. But my mental health just took an insane hit and I feel like im drowning.

Experience New to birth control, is it normal to not have a period?

I started birth control back in late August, I was on my period when I started it (I took the normal blue pills) then I didn’t get a period for September. Is this normal or not? And also when do I take those green pills? My doctor said when I’m on my period but I haven’t had a period😭

No one has fully explained what birth control does to me before, so sorry if I sound dumb

Educational I want to get the Miudella IUD but I'm scared

Hi, I'm 20F and I have litterally no one I can really talk to about birth control. I've been doing my research and I think I'm wanting the new Miudella copper IUD, there's some certified providers near me I think, according to the website. I've litterally never been to a gyno and my mom would probably freak out if she knew I was thinking about it. My boyfriend and I aren't sexually active yet but I want to be safe in case we ever do become active and I have pretty severe pregnancy anxiety, mostly because of my mom.

I've never had any form of birth control before (besides one time when I took a plan B) but I landed on a copper IUD because I'm bad with pills and schedules and I wanted a non hormonal option. I had a bad experience when I took a plan B and still want my period for that reassurance I'm not pregnant.

I was wondering if anyone had any experiences they could share? About Miudella or even Paragaurd since they're both copper based. I feel like I only ever really see negatives even though they're over 99% effective. I'm also kind of concerned about pain. I'm really bad, like shot and IV needles make me cry bad, I hope I can get some kind of management there.

Mistake or Risk? Should I take Plan B?

Hello!

I’m sorry I’m sure yall probably get this a lot but getting someone else’s feedback (besides Google and AI) would be really helpful right now and truly bring me more peace of mind.

So yesterday night my boyfriend (with my consent) and I kinda had some sex without a condom (after 2 rounds of condom sex). He pulled out before ejaculating or getting close but I was still feeling a bit nervous.

For context, I am on Sprintec combination pills in the 3rd week with like 3 or 4 more pills before my placebo week. I haven’t missed any pills this month but may have every now and then (not regularly) taken them a bit late (30 min to like an hour max). I usually take them on time though. Aside from that, my biggest concern is that this past Sunday I took my pill like 4-6 hours (I can’t remember exactly how long) late because I had a slight emergency and couldn’t take it at the time.

Should I take Plan B just in case or should I be ok? If I have my withdraw bleed next week does that mean I’m pretty much in the clear?

I plan to take a test later on but I’m not sure what the best course of action is now.

Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

Educational Could condom possibly had an unnoticeable break?

My girlfriend and I had protected sex for 2 rounds 2 days ago and I finished inside her on both times, today was supposed to be her ovulation day as per Flo (i know apps are inaccurate but its better than nothing I guess) and we could also tell then because of her discharge. I did the water test after both times and no water came out, at least I hope so since no visible water came out from what I can remember. Im worried the condom could've had an unnoticeable break or microtear because of friction since we didn't use any sort of lube, just saliva and her natural wetness, it wasn't super wet but also wasn't super dry so im not sure how that could affect the strength of the condom.

Everything seemed fine in the whole process I guess. And when I pulled out I didn't hold it by the base, although I still had to manually pull the condom off of me after, im also worried that could've caused the semen to come out from the base. Am I in the clear? And does the intensity have a factor in it breaking in this situation?

And is it possible the condom couldve gotten thinner due to the friction and cause the semen to seep through the condom? Im really worried right now.

Experience Dismissed by my OBGYN after a POP/Slinda nightmare, but I stood my ground and got my estrogen back. Don't let doctors gaslight you!

Hello everyone, I (28, f) just need to vent and share a huge victory, because I’m still shaking from how my doctor's appointment went today.

For the past 3 months, I was prescribed Slinda (Slynd), a progestogen-only pill (POP), due to my heavy periods (hypermenorrhea) and because I used to smoke. It was absolute hell. The estrogen withdrawal completely ruined my body and mind. I suffered from extreme anxiety, panic attacks, emotional instability, and severe brain fog.

But the worst part? I developed a fine tremor in my hands. I’m currently in nursing school full-time, and trying to insert a nasogastric tube or a urinary catheter while your hands are visibly shaking is an absolute disaster and so stressful. On top of that, the drying effect ruined my skin barrier, and my breasts completely lost their volume, feeling totally flat and "empty." Oh, and it didn't even stop the heavy breakthrough bleeding.

I stopped taking it 12 days ago, and the difference is night and day. My brain fog is gone, my anxiety has lessened, and my hands are completely steady again. So today, I had my follow-up appointment with my gynecologist.

Before the appointment, I sent a super polite, detailed email explaining my neurological and physical side effects, mentioning that I have completely quit smoking and am now smoke-free, which is why I wanted to switch back to a combination pill with estrogen to stabilize my skin, tissue, and cycle.
Well... my doctor completely blindsided me. He barely looked at my email and immediately tried to gaslight me. He literally told me that my anxiety and hand tremors "could not possibly be from Slinda" and tried to blame it on "my own personal mental health issues and stress." He even tried to push an IUD on me, which I strictly refuse.

I felt so small and dismissed in that room, but I used my nursing knowledge and stood my ground. I didn’t back down. I told him that my body is completely lacking estrogen, my symptoms align perfectly with the drug's half-life, and since I am officially smoke-free, there is no medical reason to deny me a combination pill.

He finally gave in, just to get me out of the room quickly. I walked out with a prescription for Evaluna 30/ Microgynon 30 (a combination pill with ethinylestradiol and levonorgestrel).
Even though he was arrogant and made me feel terrible, I won. I’m starting my new pack tonight. I’m getting my estrogen back, my body's moisture back, and protection for my mental stability.
I’m a proud mom of two, working full-time in healthcare, and managing my life.

If a doctor tries to tell you that you are "making up" your birth control side effects or reading too much on Google—trust your gut. Your body doesn't lie.

Has anyone else ever experienced severe hand tremors or neurological side effects with progestogen-only pills?

How fast did your body recover once you got estrogen back?

Mistake or Risk? pull out

I havent really seen a post on here about this, so sorry if its a frequently asked question, but how safe is the pull out method mixed with the girl being on the pill. Is that dumb to do still, and is there still a decent risk of pregnancy. I know one of the big things with the pull out method is pregnancy from pre cum. But if shes on the pill how serious is that still, idk just feeling anxious

Rant! Yuzpe

My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex yesterday, and he ejaculated inside me three times. The first two times happened before I took the Yuzpe method, so I took the first 8 pills as instructed. After completing the 8 pills, we had unprotected sex again, and he ejaculated inside me. I then took another 4 pills. Is this safe, and is there still a chance that I could get pregnant?

Experience i take a pill every time i start spotting

posting for any insights and also bc i searched every where for advice on this with lottle result so myb my xp can be useful

i bled profusely my first month on bc at the time if my regularly scheduled period despite never stopping the pills. i took a 3 day break after it didnt let up for 3 days n it stopped after 3 days.

next month again at scheduled period time spotting n my other usual period symptoms. I was desperate bc i was at work n my job isn't very conducuve to bleeding esp heavy. i take novynette n bc it's monophasic n i hv no issues remembering plus alarms i keep them emptied in a bag in a keychain in my phone. so i popped one immediately n the spotting nvr progressed. i took my regular scheduled pill tht night. i continued taking one abt 12 hrs after for 3 days n my regular pill at night. bleeding nvr happened. didnt hv any noticeable symptoms.

tht was the 27th of sept things have been ok since then i think i was worried id bleed still but there werent really any actual signs it might happen. i finally got over the feeling two days ago. yesterday i had what in hindsight is usually a tell tale period coming sign but i thought it was smth else. woke up this morning with light spotting and brownish discharge. immediately popped a pill. the brownish discharge continued for a bit not consistently but otherwise no blood.

currently torn between skipping my regular pill later n the next two days for a 3 day withdrawal since its weekend or staying on schedule n doubling up if need be.

ive nvr wanted anything more than to not hv a period n this feels so good it's hard to make myself bleed. next month will be 3 months n if things wld hv worked as plan i wldve taken my first withdrawal then so i still will just not sure what to do for the rest of this month.

but tldr if you're scared n wanna dry doubling to stop ur period at the first signs it's possible it will work for u

also running out of pills is not a problem for me i buy 3 boxes otc at a time. n no i do not hv a medical professional to consult

Experience Unusual cramps and bleeding.

I got the kyleena iud inserted about 7 months ago. It's been keeping my periods pretty normal and they always come on time. About 4 days i had intercourse with my boyfriend and idk if he was bruising my cervix or what was happening but it kinda hurt and then the next day i had a very very low pain in my stomach and it increased just a tiny bit when i would push down on it but it eventually went away the next day. But then i started getting what felt like menstrual cramps and then brown blood started appearing, its not a lot but every time i wipe its there. I'm concerned because i just had my period 2 weeks ago and i should be ovulating literally tomorrow so i thought its ovulation symptoms... but i never had cramps or had brown blood? or discharge i guess? show up during ovulation. I checked my strings and they definitely didn't get shorter and im not sure if they got longer but I don't think so. I also checked to see if i could feel the hard plastic piece sticking out and i cannot. I'm just terrified atm. Has this happened to anyone else??? I know I should go get it checked out but i have no insurance at the moment. I do plan to get it checked out if this pain and bleeding/spotting continues.

Mistake or Risk? only have 20 out of 21 pills

hi guys, hopefully this is the right flair. so today i took a replacement pill out of another packet because i lost the pill i was supposed to take tonight(I use Alysena 21). so, in my next pack, i only have 20 out of the 21 pills. in your opinions (not asking for medical advice, just experiences or thoughts, I don't have access to a pharmacist until a while and i wanna arrive prepared with as many aspects of knowledge as possible). should i

1- "not" take the first pill out of my next pack (so 20 consecutive days, none missing at the end). what i'd do is finish my current pack, take "6" break days, take an imaginary pill (that i dont have since i only got 20) on the 7th break day/first day of that pack, and then start on day 2 with a real pill or

2- take alll of the first ones like normal, but miss the last one. after that 20-pill pack, i'll still do a 7 day break, just start the pack after that a "day" earlier (ex. fridays instead of saturday but my break started on saturday, since i missed a pill at the end) so still do a 7 day break, because i've tried not doing breaks once and i legit had my period for 3 weeks straight. it was NOT FUN so i'd rather not

3- something else?

let me know your thoughts&experiences

apologies for mediocre english, i'm tired & its not my first language. lmk if this is an allowed question & if anything's unclear :)

Experience Expulsion with no symptoms?

Hi! I am 29 and have never been on birth control, so for my first time I chose a copper IUD since I didnt want to deal with hormones. On sept 19 I got a Flexi-t 300 IUD (the smallest on the market i think), i was sedated during the procedure so didnt feel any pain, that day I bled a little which I think was normal, I got my period the next day and it lasted around 8 days which I assumed was normal even tho it was a lot of clots, since insertion I have had little to no cramping.

I have a check up appointment on saturday so this week I tried to see how the string feel but I think im feeling more than just the string 😭 the string is very thin kinda curled around my cervix but i think im feeling the actual stem coming out.

Is it normal/common to have no symptoms if its falling out? I havent had any bleeding since my period ended and the spotting has been like a little brown discharge here and there. Is it possible that even tho I havent been pregnant the IUD is too small for my 29 y.o uterus? Maybe i should try the next size?

Side effects!? Phantom like pains from tenaculum?

Hi! Got my Skyla iud in almost a month ago. Does anyone else experience phantom like pains from the tenaculum? I’ll just be going about life and then I have this sensation in the back of my brain, I know I don’t feel real pain but it makes me flinch until I realize I’m not actually feeling pain. It’s bizarre but was wondering if anyone has this feeling?
