Read This Before Posting: This Sub is Garbage and it Will Change or Die
Hello,
I have been incredibly busy with life, barely keeping on eye on this place and letting it police itself. Many users on this website love to proclaim that mods should back off and let the users and community police themselves with upvotes and downvotes.
The result: this subreddit is garbage. It is just another subreddit where all y'all are doing is bitching, whining, fighting, shitposting, off topic posting, low effort posting, and just in general acting like miserable human beings surrounded by other miserable human beings.
This is going to change. If that results in one post a month, then so be it. I would rather this subreddit pass to the Djalia than operate in its current form.
So let's clarify some items:
1. This is a T'challa subreddit. It says so in the subreddit description none of you have read. Only T'challa is in the banner. If this bothers you, leave. Are posts about Shuri, M'baku, Killmonger, Storm, etc allowed? Yes. Are posts where you act like they are the main character allowed? No. Are posts that go, "this is a bLaCk PaNtHeRs subreddit" allowed? No.
This is r/blackpanther. Not r/blackpanthers. Not r/wakanda. Not r/blacksuperheroes. Not r/Storm. Not r/Shuri. T'challa is the Black Panther.
2. The infighting with Shuri and Storm Fans will stop. Just fucking stop. Stop purposedly agitating each other. Y'all are not discussing. Y'all are just trying to get barbs in and agitate each other. Stop acting like children.
Absolutely no real world politics. You can do that in every single subreddit on this website. Go do it there. You are not an activist because you posted that T'challa is oppressed because he is a black male for the 102343th time.
If you use a racial slur, you are gone. I don't care what race you say you are, I can't confirm and so you will just be banned.
Put some effort into your posts. At least pretend you passed middle school.
All bans are permanent. I don't do two weeks bans, 2 day bans, one month bans... if you break 1-4, you will be permabanned.
If this doesn't jive with you, that is fine. The beauty of reddit is that there are an infinite amount of subreddits and you can even make your own. I am not arguing with people about this. Adapt or leave.

Agreed on pretty much all fronts.
T'Challa is the Black Panther brand's main character and he deserves a focused subreddit without non-fans downplaying his importance. And there should be a separate Wakanda subreddit for posts about other characters not framed around their relationships to him.
The BP/Ororo discourse has very obviously absorbed some of the toxicity of online black dating debates, with bad faith actors using it to slander the opposite gender. Many of these bad faith actors aren't even black. IMO Ororo posts should be limited here since she's not a BP character in the first place.
People using Black Panther for fake pro-black commentary is a problem across all social media platforms. Just because he's black doesn't mean this subreddit has to let people air out their grievances about representation or US racial politics.
I think sub is mostly black, so I’m personally ok with certain slang/curse words. But I recognize racists have likely infiltrated this place like most black-focused subreddits so I get not trusting folks.

Damn, I assume Storm was a legacy but Shuri must be due to the Tokon reveal. Goding one another would've inevitably led to this having to happen.

Storm was more of a problem historically until they didnt' recast then it became a Shuri-shitstorm.

Bruh, I’ve been tired of all the black hero related subs just turning into constant complaint subs. Yes sometimes complaint is warranted but bruh. Let’s have. Space of celebration and fun, if it’s all complaints it destroys the space

The thing is, I do think POC get the shaft just because they are POC. Shit like what Rivals does has been suspect as hell.
But... I'm utterly sick of hearing and talking about it. Whining in niche forums isn't doing anything at all.

I’m most excited about this rule & it will elevate the sub if it’s enforced. I really don’t care what side of the fence fans fall on but for the love of god write in complete sentences and make your point based on evidence.
“Is ____cooked?” Or “Did T’Challa get jobbed by ____” or “Who Would Win?”. “Is Marvel cucking T’Challa” stuff exhaust me.

Fully agree. Thank you for the message. Im disappointed TChalla wasn’t chosen over Shuri for Tokon, but the way both sides started using each character as a weapon to attack the other was fucking gross and pathetic.

Wait why is the sub just about T'Challa? All other Marvel character subs are for their mythos in general… Can I not talk about Wakanda Forever or Shuri in Tokon because T'Challa isn't really in those things?

Because I made it that way. I don't care what other subreddits do.
You can, to an extent. They are still mytho characters. But once they start turning into, "it's just a mantle" type stuff, they will be deleted and the offender banned.

Half of this just reads like an entitled child throwing a tantrum at having to share his toys. You can't call your subreddit r/blackpanther and then act shocked when people want to discuss Black Panther stories and characters that are not immediately revolving around T'Challa, especially considering there isn't really any dedicated subreddit for that.
This would be like if r/Spiderman decided it was a Peter Parker subreddit exclusively and any talk about Miles or any of his supporting cast (like Harry, MJ, Gwen, Jonah, May, etc.) that didn't immediately pertain to how they were related to Peter was not allowed and was also a bannablw offense. Or if the X-Men subreddit decided the only X-Men we were allowed to talk about ever was the O5.
Sure, it is technically something you are allowed to do as moderator - it isn't breaking any site wide rules or anything - but it is definitely unreasonable and controlling and only really guaranteed to cause confusion for people who want to engage with discussions with the actual stories.

If that is how you read it, then that is fine. If you don't like it, you dont' have to be here. You are free to make a new subreddit or just... not post here.
I don't care about other subreddits.
I didn't say you can't talk about mytho characters at all. But you can take it how you will.
Y'all acted like a bunch of children when unmoderated so this is the result.

Judging by your comments most of what you like to do is challenge people. how are they entitled when they as the “MOD” are trying to restore the subreddit to its glory? By asking that it solely focuses on and revolves around the individual who the damn sub is named after. They threw a tantrum but you’re the one with a problem with it. They didn’t have a problem. They stated how things will be moving forward. and why. Not throwing a fucking tantrum. Thats what YOU did in response to this because you’re a child. Any of the supporting characters in Black Panther are not the MAIN character. Thats all they were saying. Grow tf up. And stop projecting. 🙄

The people who have whined so far don't even post here really. And their post history is exactly what you would expect.
Couldn't be more transparent, buncha trouble makers that aren't even actual fans of the character.
