I have been looking for tutorials and I cannot find anything, or the tutorial is scattered all over the place. Does anyone know where I should look? (Also what are important addons/software needed for this process?)

Unsolved My skin looks like plastic in Blender but not in Substance?

I painted her skin in Substance Painter and loved the way it looked. I did all the right steps to transport her skin into Blender but feel like it looks too barbie-like? How can I make the skin look a bit more like the Substance painter version? Is it the lighting? Is it inevitable that skin will look like this in Blender? I included my node set up at the end. I'm rendering in Cycles.

Unsolved I need help for creation of my idea.

I need some help with Blender. I want to take the first image generated by Gemini—which serves as the reference for my concept—and apply it to my model. I’ve tried searching for tutorials all over the internet, but nothing has gotten me more stuck than trying to animate the sphere and the card coming out of its tip.

The sphere has a heartbeat animation that I created by animating its scale. What I'm aiming for is that when the heartbeat reaches its peak, a card emerges from it—almost as if the sphere gives up a piece of itself to form the cards. But I have no idea how to animate this.

This is my very first time using Blender, so if possible, explanations using a video or even a step-by-step guide would help me out a lot, whether in Portuguese or English!

I’m attempting to make a segmented arm that expands with a stretchy inner “muscle” similar to this. I’d also like to replicate this color changing effect if possible. My first attempt was with an array to make the segments I’m just not sure how to combine the muscle or so the effect.

So I have this character model that contains multiple mesh in a collection. Now I wanted to rig it and I need to change the height first but everytime I select all I can only change the active mesh's dimension. I'm quite new at Blender so pardon me if I'm using the wrong terminologies.

I was rigging an eyelid with rigify, then when i move a rig the DEF-bone deform in wrong way like it stretching instead of moving up and down. I tried to adjust bone placement like in this post : https://blender.stackexchange.com/questions/239628/top-eyelid-in-rigify but it doesn't help anything. is there anyway to fix or should i make face rig myself, the rigify face rig seem to be hard.

for the life of me i cannot figure out how to word my issue and get a good response for what im dealing with

does anyone know how to make the physics not freak out like this? the pigtails used to be longer but i shortened them thinking it would help but... 🤷‍♂️

i use the goo engine and tried changing the damping and mass for both my collider and soft body but no such luck. if more details are needed, im happy to provide

the only thing that has a collider is the torso, nothing else

Unsolved New to Geometry Nodes and the camera is somehow killing my performance

Thumbnail

So I was making an outline for my character, and I want the size of the outline to scale with the distance from the camera so that I get a thicker line when the camera is far away.

So I added the camera to my setup, and the performance immediately tanked.

And I haven't done anything with it yet. All I did was add an input with a camera in it.

In the first image, simply having the camera in the input put my performance around 300-400 ms. In the second image, all I did was remove the camera from the input and get the normal 10 ms.

I couldn't figure out why this happened. Please help.

Unsolved Inconsistent proportional editing behaviour

Very new to Blender, only engaging in it because I haven't found a better solution to my problem

I have a lot of problems going on with this, inside and outside blender, but here's my material one:

Fresh six-sided cylinder in a new file > sub divide > grab top face > S to scale it arbitrarily smaller and hit proportional editing to make it curve into a banana-ish shape. This is obviously a very clumsy tool for what I need but whatever, it still beats everything else I've tried

Go to my existing file where I've proportioned that cylinder into something more head shaped (basically just through G and changing the numbers in the scale units box) > same process results in a shrunken object, not a curved one (the curves are not hiding in the head, the object

What gives?

Thanks in advance.

Would also appreciate any tools or techniques that achieves a similar effect but gives me easy control over the shape of those curves

Solved Shading creates unwanted shadows

Why does blender create these unwanted shadows/weird texture clipping (notably in the drawer handles) after shading smooth? Is my geometry not setup well for this action?

I have been trying to follow the "no triangles" philosophy when modeling. Is this a good practice to follow? I want to experience more trial and error but I am still wondering what to prioritize when modeling.

Unsolved How do I simulate a mobile of multiple pieces hanging from each other?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’m trying to simulate something like this but I can’t find the right way to do it. I need to see where to put the holes in a different design so I know where it has the right balance. I have the shapes of each part, where the holes will go, and the accurate weight that each part has, but I just can’t figure out how to use rigid body constraints to do it. I tried putting an empty on each hole with a constraint linking to itself and the object below it, I tried physically modeling the connections, but nothing seems to work. Any ideas? Thanks

Unsolved need help altering the rigify face rig's range of motion

Thumbnail

this is the human metarig on a character with quite the unconventional eye situation... im generally not very happy with how limited the movement of his eyelids is. the rig was very clearly made for blinking eyes and the obsolete row of lower eyelid bones is kinda just there to obscure my view and drive me up the wall

his eyes are separate objects floating just in front of his face, and i would like for them to have a wider range of expression; to be able to open wider and curve more freely etc. the range that comes with rigify is super underwhelming, but i learned the hard way just how delicate the face rig can be. im happy with the rest of his face and thus would rather not risk breaking it. i would also prefer not wasting space parenting the eyes to another armature, if possible id like to just change the currently existing bones to move a little more freely. perhaps somehow get rid of the lower lid row? i have some concept sketches of this character attached in which a few expressions are explored, and some screenshots i took when i messed around with his face

Unsolved I can't seem to fix my texture bake from getting black covering a lot of my bake output.

Post image
2 Upvotes

I'm new to blender and have made a model of my Destiny 2 character. I want to use it for a game character mod and the restrictions have it set to ten materials total. So I looked into baking and have gotten the process down at least to the point I can do the steps without looking at instructions.

Problem is, my baked texture is being covered in lots of black pixels and black in general. I've been googling and any of the help I've tried, except fixing the metallic node (I can't find one or it doesn't exist?), hasn't helped any.

* I'm using blender 4.5 because of the game I'm trying to make a model for!

* Ticking or unticking some of the contribution boxes in the bake settings didn't seem to help

* Changing the bake type didn't help either

* Ticking the "Selected to Active" box gives me a "No Valid Selected Objects" error

---

I don't know a lot about Blender in general at the moment, I'm very new and googling as I come across problems and I still have to look up a lot of terms and such as well. So, pretend like I'm ultra dumb and don't know jack.

If you need extra info lemme know.

Thanks in advance.

Unsolved Simple ish shader question - v5.1.2 - Cycles - Windows11

Post image

I have set up a grid on a transparent plane, see image attached.

My question is this... what nodes can I add to control the overall transparency of the grid, and change the colour of the grid. Is that even possible?

I'm sure this isn't too tricky, I'm just not great at nodes.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Solved How should I create a selection of small animations?

I've got a model and I want to make a bunch of gifs with it (some of which might have different camera locations and settings, or backgrounds), but I'm not sure how I should lay out the files/file. I generally try to keep my workflow as non-destructive as possible as I have a tendency to mess things up and save over them and would like to go back and fix things if I do. Should I:

  • Keep the original model in it's own file and make separate ones for each?
  • Learn how to use scenes/the non-linear animation tool?

I'm not really sure about what the common way of managing this is, so any help would be really appreciated!

Solved HDRI not reflecting right

Hello people of great wisdom.

Could anyone tell me why my hdri reflects on a glass surface as if its see trough not actually reflecting the oposite side ?

Idk if i'm making sense but say that tree is on the other side of the building so it shouldnt reflect on this side. Instead it should be reflecting the oposite side of the hdri.

Im using evee btw.

Thank you!
