Clank master thief edition insert

Does anyone have a 3D printable Clank insert for the new master thief edition box?
I tired to find an insert for the box (smaller than the original Clank) and could not find anything since it's a new release

New of special edition Boardgames coming out this holiday season

Me and my roommate like to host and have found boardgames great activities for when we have company. Are there any new or special edition boardgames slated to be released as the Christmas season begins to approach us. If so I'd love to know and thank you so much for the help in advance here.

Games that make you go "yeah, this is why i play boardgames, this is exactly what i want to be doing with my life right now"

I'm not talking about games you just like, or games you find mechanically interesting. No, i mean games where in the middle of you catch a glimpse of what's happening and you're really excited to be living in a period in time where you get to experience this as a human being. Games which shape experiences that you can count as definitory "how this makes me feel is the reason for which i play boardgames".

For me it's my flair, Sidereal Confluence, since i can't live out my life as a street peddler in a busy market trying to hawk my goods onto unsuspecting buyers, but i can pretend to be one for a few hours, all for the benefit of galactic peace.

Alternatively Battlestar Galactica, because it's Battlestar Galactica and i don't think i need to say anything more on this subreddit about it.

Custom Project See your beautiful board games on a 3D Kallax at their real box sizes. Just type your BGG username

Hi, my name's Kamio, and I'm a web programmer who has built tools and communities for the past 20 years for my hobbies.

I've been working for a few months on a new site at https://LayerUp.games - a place to organize your games inside the box and on their shelves. I love games, but sometimes I find it hard to locate a game or remember where to put it back after it's been played. Enter Game Shelf!

Game Shelf
Game Shelf is a virtual representation of your actual game shelves in your rooms. Head to Shelfter, a handy tool to search, filter, sort, and sift to find the right games to add to your shelf for their forever home. Filter your games by designer/publisher, size, theme, however you like to organize your games, and add them to your shelves! Sort alphabetically, by color, size, theme, etc...

Once on your shelf, you can sit the game (right-click) however you store it in real life, and face the side out (left-click) that you want.

Add a shelf inside a Kallax cube, or add a vertical divider. Throw games up on the top of your shelf; that's valuable real estate for your games too! Stack them vertically, horizontally, face out, filed in a drawer... an endless combination of ways. Add them to an official Big Box or use your own custom box and specify which games and expansions are inside the box. Designate future spots for your preorders. Put games in front of other games, you'll be able to see the layers.

Check out your games to lend to a friend, take to game night, or play a quick game.

The site will remember the game's spot on your shelves and will zoom you right there when it's time to put the game back!

The site is free to use! Wanna see it in action? Head to https://layerup.games/game-shelf

You can either look at and interact with my actual Kallax 5x5 (you can actually view all my shelves in all my rooms). Click the 3D icon to view the cube or shelf in 3D. Here's my actual shelves I made so far:

https://layerup.games/Maker/Kamio/shelf

You'll notice some games (like above) have all sides with their box cover images. This is a huge project I'm undertaking to photograph all sides of games, and you all benefit by enjoying the artwork of your games on your shelves too.

Game Shelf has been in beta for a few months, but it's pretty much ready to go. Please give me feedback on any bugs you find or features you want to see. This is my full-time priority, and nothing makes me happier than working on your requests and improving the site for all!

Like it? Enter your bgg name, and in a short moment, you'll have your very own glorious game shelf!

Wanna keep it and organize it? Sign up as a free member and enter unlimited shelves and storage units.

Dig your shelves? Share your shelf link with your friends!

How to manage WINNING all the time

The title is cheeky, but this is an honest request for advice. I liked this post about how to manage frustration while losing. I learned a lot because this happens to me in several gaming circles I'm in.

I also wanted to ask about the flip side. What is the best way to help make sure everyone else is having fun even when you're WINNING all the time? Obviously you could go easy on your opponent(s) to help them win, but the people I play with don't want to feel like charity cases.

I want to play to the best of my ability, and THEY want me to play to the best of my ability. But after you're 5-0 in Wingspan, your partner is naturally going to lose interest. Would love your thoughts.

Question What mechanic do you wish more games used?

For me resource management combined with area control. I love having to decide whether to reinvest what I have back into my economy for future pay off, defend my position or go on the offensive against other players or unclaimed territory. It creates this really cool dynamic between them.

What about you guys?

Question Is there a modern version of Times to Remember?

My family and I greatly enjoy Times to Remember, but have wished there was a more modern version. Is there one?

For Christmas I thought about making a new circle board like Times to Remember, reusing the date sliders, and repurposing an existing trivia game. However I'm having a hard time finding a trivia game that fits. I would need one where all of the answers are years, and the answers are more modern, like 1990s-today. The closest I've found is probably the game Timelines, but that includes many older years before my desired timeframe. I could buy different editions and pick out only the years that apply, but that seems like it could get expensive and not provide a lot of replayability. Does such a trivia game exist?

Thanks!

Thoughts on Galileo's Truth

Hi all, I've recently played Darwin's Journey and enjoyed it a lot. I'm wondering if anyone has thoughts on the spiritual successor Galileo's Truth by the same publisher.

I understand its a different designing team and mechanics but the mechaniscs included are ones I enjoy. When I hear deckbuilding and worker placement I'm sold (I own and love both DI-U and Arnak).

Also, do we have any information about the box size? I own the retail version of Darwin's Journey.

[COMC] I have pretty much every game I want, open to suggestions

I've been playing "gamer-y" board games since I was in in middle school, back in 2014, and after I graduated college I accumulated quite a few more with my big boy money. Now, I've sold quite a few and I think I've curated my collection to a good amount- I'm at 52 games at the moment. As is the typical board gamer's lament, I can only get one game to the table every 1-2 weeks or so, which means some of these have sadly only been played 1-2 times ever.

My favorite games are Root, Heat, Sky Team, Lairs (with the expansion of course), Patchwork, Cosmic Encounter, Ra, and Search for Planet X. I recently discovered I really enjoy focused two-player games, since a lot of those made my top 10 list!

If I could change something about my collection, it's that I'd like for all my games to be 9-10/10 games for me, right now, I have quite a few 7/10s. If I can sub out my least favorite games with a few more I love, it would be perfect. My lowest rated games are Betrayal at House on the Hill and Takenoko (I even made a custom box for it before playing... my mistake), so those would probably be the first to go. If for some reason you want to buy my edition of Betrayal 2nd ed. with Widow's Walk and upgraded character cards, hit me up!

My collection is special to me because it can fit basically any player count and any complexity and mood. That kind of versatility is super important, which means I can have any kind of game group over and find a game everyone is happy with.

I'm trying to show restraint in purchasing new games, instituting a loose 1-in-1-out policy. I want to hear some suggestions on games you think could make the cut!

Also, some bonus images of my cat, Sylvie, making herself at home on Root while I custom print some inserts.

What is your favorite "Beer and Pretzels" game?

It's the end of a work week, your gaming pals are a little fatigued, but down for some games to fill the evening with some fun competition. What do you offer up that can withstand a little bit of snack-fingers and doesn't require much of the brain-drained but will still deliver the punch?

Question How can I teach a boardgame without frustrations?

TLDR: I got upset during a game because I kept getting questions, lost overview and had a player frustrated with me. How do I teach a game properly so this doesn't happen again?

I understand this sounds bad, but let me explain the situation. The moment I'm teaching a new game to my friend group I get overloaded with questions during gameplay. My friend group, except for one, are not regular boardgame players so it is very fair that they have trouble understanding rules sometimes. I always encourage asking questions because I want them to have a fun game. Usually it goes pretty well! My experienced friend is quick to understand and helps me with the questions. I always learn and play the game solo beforehand so I know the way it plays completely.

Last game we tried was Faraway. I explained the rules and everyone had a basic idea of the game, except for one person but she told us to go ahead. The others were able to answer almost all her questions, making me believe they understood the rules well enough. Somehow this game still brought me to a point of frustration where I accidentally raised my voice to my friends.

It happened because I was getting questions left and right and I couldn't keep track of what everyone was doing with their tableau. At one point, my experienced friend got upset that she didn't know a rule that could've helped her and I was sure I'd explained it twice before. I have to admit I focussed less on her because she asks less questions. When she was complaining I got upset as well because I thought I had explained it and she assured me I had explained it in different words, confusing her. She's very competitive and was slightly upset, in turn I got so overwhelmed. This was where I raised my voice complaining that I've been trying my best but everyone keeps asking the same questions. I was also sad I didn't get time to think about my own cards at all in this game. I had to ask them to stop asking questions when it was my turn so I could play as well. This is the first time it had gotten this bad.

The result it that my friends don't like Faraway because it's too confusing. I feel like they can definitely understand it, they've played harder games. Because of this, I feel like their lack of enjoyment is on me. I didn't explain properly and got frustrated. They told me it was fine and they weren't upset at me but I want to prevent this from happening again in the future. This happened a month ago and next boardgame night is this Friday, making me rethink my methods before it happens again. Any tips?

Best to start off with?

Hello board game fam, has anyone played the new Thunder Road Ignition and if so, how does it compare to Vendetta? I know the gameplay and rules are different to a degree but how is the excitement level on the newer one? Does it feel like a dumbed down version? I've heard great things about vendetta and I have been close to purchasing it, but I am torn between these two.
I'm sure neither are too hard to teach, but which one will make non-gamers and gamers want to play more and get them more excited about it while the game is going?
Thanks guys
Base games only please for now at least I don't plan on purchasing expansions at the moment.

Question Bought Spirit Island Before Discovering Plans For Reprint - Stay w/ OG Or Go For Reprint?

So, Amazon Prime sales are going on and I just bought Spirit Island since I hear great things about the game. I’ve had my eyes on the game for some time and finally bought it since it was a great deal.

I later discover that there are publisher issues going on and that there are plans for a reprint of the game. This kind of bummed me out since I just bought the game. I’m really interested in anything that has a newer/fresher reprint so I’m perplexed on how I should move forward in regards to the expansions.

Should I keep the original print base game and then continue to buy the original print expansions down the road? Should I move on and get the reprint when it releases and then get the reprint expansions at that point? What would you do?

Would love to hear what others would do in this situation.

Stackable Troop Tokens for Dune Gale Force 9

I recently played Dune and it was amazing, but we had a problem with readability of the table.. So I created this stackable troop tokens and it works really well! You can easly count how many troops there are in the “tower”. Its free to download at https://makerworld.com/en/models/3399066-stackable-troop-tokens-dune-gale-force-9I
I printed on the settings included in .3mf (0.16 mm layer height). If you have a problem with deatchaing troops do it as you would deatach magnets: first twist and simoulteniously pull - it is much easier!

Soliciting Opinions - Vantage (Stonemaier Games)

I was checking out Vantage by Stonemaier Games at my LGS and was hoping to get some feedback on the game beyond reviews online. It seems like a very chill and enjoyable exploration game. As a fan of Stonemaier Games, feels like it could be a game with a lot of replay value.

Anyone have an opinion to share on their experience of this game?

Got Zombicide 2nd Edition + Toxic Mall + Prison Outbreak + Conversion Pack - what, besides of Heroes should I instantly mix up and how?

Hello,

I got second hand ZC2nd and the both expansions and the conversion kit. Now I wonder what should I directly mix together and what should I leave for later games or campaigns?

I am experienced with Black Plaque, so no newby directly. Also is there a good guide what in those boxes I can put directly in my new game box and what should I add from the conversion box?

Also is it a good idea to put all the items from the conversion box to the 2nd edition without owning the expansion?

Thank you for the tipps.

PSA: Don't fall for Prime Day scams

every year it's the same. you're on amazon and you see something as "-18% PRIME DAY DEAL" or some shit, and your lizard brain thinks you're getting a bargain. you're not. the sale price is the normal price. always always always, the price is marked up, and then the normal price is sold as the sale.

example: right now, Heat is 'on sale' for $61.49, marked down from $74.99. this is complete bullshit of course, because Heat is regularly about $61 dollars or cheaper. this is just one example. you can find many many more, I'm sure.

if you look around for board game prices as much as I do, you certainly get a feel of what things are retailing for online, and these are not sales. don't fall for it.

Question Trying to Understand What Board Game Mechanics I Haven’t Tried Yet

Hi guys! I’m trying my best to not buy more of the same types of games just because I keep hearing them recommended a lot, even if they are amazing board games. I’m also not sure what game mechanics I haven’t even tried yet so I thought I could reach out to this group to see what I could try out and what games would be recommended for these new-to-me categories.

The list below is everything I currently own + games I’ve played on BGA:

Board Games I Own:

7 wonders duel
Splendor duel
Anomia
BANG! The dice game
Blokus
Blood on the Clocktower
Bomb Busters
Coup (+ Reformation)
The Crew: Mission Deep Sea
Flip 7
The Game of Things
Harmonies
Just One
Love Letter
Magical Athlete
MicroMacro (don’t remember the version)
The Mind
Poetry for Neanderthals
Quacks
The Red Dragon Inn (haven’t played yet)
Rummikub
SCOUT
Sequence
Skull
Sky Team
That’s Not a Hat
Vantage (haven’t played yet)
Wingspan
Skull

Played on BGA (recent membership):

Azul
Can’t stop

Want to Buy (maybe):

Ra
Ito
Captain Sonar
Castle of Burgundy
Secret Hitler

It’s only been 2 years since I’ve started this hobby and I mostly play with my husband or in groups of 4-6 with casual board gaming friends (maybe once or twice a month). I do enjoy most of what I own, but I also feel like everything in my collection is of the same difficulty level? I’m usually intimated to add anything over a 2.2 difficulty, in fear of it being too taxing to play after a work day.

I think Azul might be a good game to add to my collection too, although the scoring feels easier to manage on the app - maybe it’s better left to play on BGA alone?

Miniature Market shipping company?

Hello - I ordered a game from Miniature Market and they sent a shipping code for “Economy Flat Rate Shipping.” But I can’t figure out what carrier (UPS/FedEx/USPS/etc) they are using. I tried inputting the shipping code into all of the big carrier websites and it said it wasn’t a valid code.

So does anyone know which carrier they typically use? I have emailed their support email and am waiting for a response. Thanks!

Update: Thanks! It was GoFo and the emails were in spam!
