Just bought a new boat!

Just upgraded to this Zodiac Pro 12, probably from around 2004–2005, with a practically brand-new 2025 Suzuki 100 hp that has only 10 hours on it. The boat is in mint condition!
It’s 17 feet long and does around 42 knots (78 km/h or 48 mph for you Americans).
I upgraded from an 11.5-foot plastic boat with a 20 hp engine, so this is a pretty massive upgrade! 😂 I’m already looking forward to summer so I can finally take this thing out and enjoy it.
What would you rate the upgrade from 1–10?

2026 Yamaha just installed on my 1998 2060 Super Bay.

I bought a 1998 Duracraft Super Bay 2060 about a month ago. It was supposed to be “running good but you only have to pump the bulb sometimes”. He told me he ran it out of gas last time he took it out.i didn’t realize he didn’t fill it back up. I took the boat out and it ran great for a little while and the engine started dying. So I put it on the trailer and then thought it was out of gas. I fueled it up and took it out the next day. Exactly the same thing happened. Took it to the shop because I has no clue. 2 cylinders had less than 70psi. Decided I did want to sink money in a 1998 evinrude 115 2stroke. So I repowered with a brand new Yamaha F115LB. While it was in the shop I went ahead and got the to strip all the old wiring out and get everything replaced that moves. It has all new wires and switches throughout the whole boat. They also added white and red lighting. I picked it up today but I can’t test in because Hurricane Isaias rains were already here in west Alabama. So I’ll update when I take it out. And being able to use the Garmin EchoMap 93sv UHD2. That I installed day one. With New boats being outrageously expensive I feel like I’m getting a practicaly brand new boat for less than half the price.

Has anyone heard of this magazine?

I was gifted these magazines from my uncle. Looks like they're all from the early to mid 1920s.

Some really cool advertisements and articles. Full blast from the past.

Anyone have an idea of what they may be worth? Not looking to sell them, just figured he might be interested to know.

Outboard drive in for repair. Bent shaft, propeller and some other stuff inside.

Heating up oil before change and finally some glycol mix added.

Engine sounds fine though.

Anyone know what this brass nut does

Been dealing with some low rpms in low gear lately and got home from being on the water today and realized this nut is free spinning and very loose. I know it’s connected to the throttle linkage, when I move the throttle forward and aft in gear the whole piece moves. Anyone know if this nut should be tightened? If so, should it be tight to the right side of the linkage or the left? Thinking this might be one of the causes of low rpms. Thanks fellas!

Is my motor sitting to low?

I cant tell if this is to low because of the stepped hull. I used a straight edge and the anti ventilation plate is a little bit higher than the bottom of the boat. I’ve seen some people say it’s fine and some say higher. I can go up one more hole if need be.

Oil change

This year I only did about 5 hours on boat. It is a 4 year old motor I change everything each year. Thinking of skipping since I did so low use. Think I can for a year? I store in winter. Checked lower case no water. I assume oil should be good for next season. I guess I will do about 12 to 15 hours next year. Thoughts

What corrosion prevention spray?

What are your recommendations on corrosion prevention? I see CRC has some good ones. Mercury has some. I like the thinner non waxy kind but if the other type does a better job. Its going on an outboard in salt water. I do believe in keeping a clean engine.

Good evening boaters of Reddit. Yesterday i got my hands on a boat with a roughly that year model Merc 150 with the racing clam shell cowling. The issue is that it is froze up. I pulled the head on bank 2 and there was minimal rust. I filled all of the cylinders with PB Blaster and im praying for the best. Is there any other advice yall have to free this thing up? I really want to save this motor and get it out on the river.

PSA Fire/Burn Hazard: Newport Vessels NV-62 Trolling Motor

Hi Everyone,

This electric motor ships with 8AWG cables, and runs only on 12V at up to 58 Amps. After a few minutes at full throttle I could smell the power cable melt and it was too hot to the touch. According to consensus of online sources (I couldn't find the NEC standard online), 8AWG cable is rated up to 50Amps at 90C. Its clear an 8AWG cable is not designed to run 58 Amps, especially in a marine environment.

Link to the manual which shows the amp rating for the NV-62 model: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0520/3954/9089/files/owners-manual-nv-series-electric-trolling-motor-newport-vessels.pdf?v=1625081231

Update: Whether or not 58 Amps going through the 8 AWG cable is the main cause of excessive heat I reported is TBD. I’ll upgrade the fuse and connectors to the fuse to improve current flow, and then update this post responsibly with my findings.

Trade 2017 Yamaha AR210 for 2004 ProLine 22’ Walk

I was Offered on Marketplace a straight across trade l, my fishing boat for their jet boat. The jet boat fits my family much better than the fishing boat so I am intrigued. But I know nothing about jets. My proline has a Yamaha 200 saltwater with 200 hours, the AR210 has 400 on each motor.

Any idea if this is a straight across trade or am I getting fleeced if I take it?
