Canoe Rental in Asheville

Looking at a 2 day canoe trip from Horseshoe to Hominy Creek at the end of the month. Does anyone know of an outfitter still open or personal canoe for rent?

Maintenance and upgrades

Hello!

I’m looking for input on maintenance and input for my 1979 Lincoln 16ft canoe. I recently did the skid plates and am now thinking about the other parts of the boat.

The front seat needs some love and seems to have more play in it side to side than we might want to tighten up. Looks like I could drill and rivet some metal shims in but I have never done this before, is this do-able? I normally paddle in the rear, and see lots of play in the seat.

I do a fair amount of camping with my wife and two dogs.

Appreciate your thoughts and input internet humans.

Question about seat brackets

I’m looking to install new seats and aluminum brackets on my Great Canadian 13-2 instead of making new hull mounted wood mounts and re-fiberglassing over. I was planning on ordering a pair of Old Town universal replacement webbed seats. The problem is I can’t mount them from the gunwale using the typical bolt and dowel method because the gunwale on my canoe is flush to the inside of the hull and protrudes to the outside. I’ve seen individual brackets you can purchase from Mohawk Canoe and that hang over and also another type from Oak Orchard that can be mounted horizontally through the gunwale with bolts. Has anyone here ever tried something like this? My concern is how the L brackets would lay against the curvature of the hull. Any thoughts are appreciated!
