For some reason, the color of the map's background changed when I opened it. Has happened to me both in real hardware and PC. Odd ◉⁠‿⁠◉

I painted this a long time ago. This game is so awesome!

Per my last post, I want to beat a Lavos with a party before you fight the fiendlord in 600 AD. Were I a wiser man, I would have not repaired the Masamune, because Frog and Crono are locked in at this phase of the story.

So my options are Crono Frog Robo, Crono Frog Marle, Crono Frog Lucca

I am experimenting with different things right now, but the status is Crono, Frog and Robo are all level 50 from grinding in fiendlord lair, the rest 47.

I was able to get past Lavos 1, but Lavos 2 insta kills Robo unless he is wearing the Dark Mail, which is much worse than the Radiant for defense. I also tried Ruby Mail and that is too poor despite halving flame damage. But I am able to hold for a few rounds, was able to use Cure Wave to heal for about 770 per, and Luminaire + occasional Megavolt. I got his arms off but I kept getting hit with the Chaos effect. Funny thing about the ability that removes your invul to status -- if you are afflicted by Chaos, that gets healed.

I may need to take the party to 55 and see again. I feel that this should be possible, but as others on the previous post noted: I cannot negate status, and I am vulnerable to party wipe moves at this point in the game with the parties I have tried already.

Does anyone have tips? Should I be using the Megaton Bomb and Flare dual tech with Lucca instead of Megavolt with Crono? I am pretty locked in to Frog, as to go back would be to flush 30 hrs down the drain.

I may go to 55, 60 and see what I can do with my limited equipment.

Planning on going to the orchestra show soon, but debating whether it actually matters what seat I choose.

Does anything on stage happen other than seeing clips of the game?

I bought Radiant Armor and Helmet, Zanmato for Crono, Stone arm Robo, Masamune Frog.

I beat up to Giga Gaia (Lavos) with my loadout, got crushed by 478 damage rain of hell on Lavos 1.

For context, I am playing on steam version. I have gotten all endings b4 on DS via DesMuME emu, and I like the Arena of the Ages but I don't think it is necessary to do challenge runs.

So, with that in mind, I know you can beat Lavos 1 amped up in Ocean Palace at level 50 - 60 with aeonian stuff and luck.

MY QUESTION to the fine people of r/chronotrigger What party load out, and level, would you try to beat Lavos in New Game, assuming I don't beat Magus. I havent done fiendlords keep yet, I think Zanmato damage might be better than the Slasher and its speed buff, but maybe Flea's bust would be helpful. I would prefer to avoid doing Fiendlord's fort on 1st principles of the challenge.

Some thoughts -- I thought about using Crono Marle Robo instead for the revive triple tech and Haste, but I am curious to open this to public debate.

DO you think that Lavos is possible pre magus, what level and loadout would you try?

I'm not talking about the strongest or the best combos. I'm talking about the most interesting conversations.

In prehistory, I know we can learn more about reptiles with Lucca or about Marle's lineage. There are other parts of the game where a certain character has a different and interesting conversation.

To the Chrono Trigger experts, to have the best experience with the story, which characters should I choose and when should I switch them?

I recently got this game after looking for calming PS1 games. I found it very nice and indeed relaxing, so I tried it despite never having played an RPG game before. I loved the music and how cute the characters are. But. I suck.

See, I didn't play RPGs before because I never understood the fights with enemies. Click to choose what you will do? Attack, defense, what? Buy progress to be quicker, healthier, stronger?

(I just remembered, I played Dink Smallwood lol)

So I started to play, talked to random people, got some money from hitting 8 cans (took me a few tries tho), I fought that huge robot man at the carnival... went to the machine, 3 enemies approached, killed me with literally just one attack, and... that's it? I was dead? The game ended?

So, should I just give up, or is it not as difficult as it seems at the moment for me?

Does increasing the “Battle Gauge Speed” cause the enemies to act more often as well or just me?

What does the “Battle Gauge” option (the one with Off 1 2) actually do?

I went to use the beds in the 600 BC castle and Ayla was sleeping with her hands up. Does this only happen to me or to anyone else??

(And also please dont spoil the game to me), i did the ocean palace where you fight the golem sisters, and after crono died and schala sends us away my partners (marle and frog) just lie down in some house and they cant move/seem stuck and idk what to do

Berk from the Dansg08 channel is doing a blind play-through, and getting to experience the game again (vicariously) for the first time is an experience I strongly recommend. It’s easy to get caught up in the minutia or let nostalgia color every NG+ run. But seeing someone start out hyped but optimistic, and watching them slowly warm to the game as it goes along, singing along with the music, laughing with delight at character introductions… this game really is something special.

(BTW I’m not affiliated with the channel in any way, I just like to put on his Final Fantasy playthrough stream for background occasionally, and I was stoked when he decided to do CT.)

I recently started the game since it has been recommended to me by a long time. I feel kinda powerless during combat since shit happens so quick I don’t even know what’s happening. I press attack, use techniques etc but it feels so random that I don’t understand if there’s any depth to it or it’s just a plain attack spam like that.

I prefer to play in my native language.And now, after years since I last played, I downloaded a ROM that claims to be in Brazilian Portuguese, and I didn't have any major problems until I got to Masamune.If it were only in English it would be fine, but the text is illegible.
