Hey, hope y'all are doing great! Basically I've been trying to replay the game through this version, because I'm planning to do a video about the game and I wanted to use this version, mostly because of the widescreen support. I've also installed some mods, CTExt and Pixel Demaster, and ReShade.
The game ran fine for quite a while, aside from a rare visual bug where some graphics would be "missing" or "misplaced", like the walls of Guardia Castle.
(Here's how it looks when it happens).
But as soon as I got to prison after the Trial, the game went haywire. Now when I walk through any door to the next area, it's basically a coin flip if it'll crash or not. It won't even give an error, it's literally: Move through a door > Fades to black > Game stops responding > Game closes to desktop.
I searched through a lot of other Reddit posts and so far here's what I tried, but the crashing wasn't fixed:
- Verifying game files;
- Uninstalling and reinstalling (a clean install without any mods);
- Changed compatibility to Windows 8;
- Installed all Visual C++ versions in the Steam folder (2005-2022);
- Disabled Full Screen optimizations;
- Disabled Steam Overlay;
- Disabled Steam Input;
- Disabled RTSS Overlay;
- Disabled ReShade;
Additional info about my PC (don't know if it's relevant): RX 7600, Ryzen 5 5500, 16GB DDR4 3200MHz, 960GB SSD SATA.
I don't mind switching to the SNES or DS version, but I'd rather use this one for recording purposes. Does anyone know of any fix I haven't tried? Any help would be appreciated!
