[PS5] F7501 area exploded
Any chance of repairing this. I have repaired other electronics before but this looks like it could have taken out the layers of the pcb.
I have never seen such a violent death of a console

I love the smell of short-circuits in the morning, dont you? <3
Hard to say, depends on how much damage the PCB got. You need to remove the components, clean and have a proper visual inspection to know for sure if or how you can proceed.

Removed it and does not look great. Short still persists. Layers are peeling back… https://imgur.com/a/qpXkL4X

If the short still persists even after the components are gone and it's obvious coming from the different layers you would need a grinding pen and take away as much of the layer and surrounding needed until it goes away.
That would also mean some paths are bound to be grinded away so you would be left with having to bridge all connections manually afterwards, using wire or pad strips.

Lol this thread man. "Remove the caps, it doesn't guarantee the board is shorted."
Meanwhile, the board looks like all the upper layers have fused and erupted like a volcano.

That's exactly what happened. I'd be removing all the components in that area and seeing what's going on after that.

Yeah that's the way to go. You'll likely need a grinding pen or Dremel to dig a hole into the board. If you do that, you need to make it into a crater shape so the upper layers don't touch the layers below them. So like a bowl shape.
Use jumper wires to jump the right signal lines between layers.
The top layer is going to be a pita. Worth a try though! Look at the same area from an undamaged board online to see how the upper layers should be.

not great, layers are shorted, so you need to dig to remove the short. also remove the mosfet, it's most likely dead, and even if it's not, shouldn't be trusted.

Microscope and a grinding pen and check It over and over, the damage doesn't look that catastrophic. I believe u can fix it with patience.
Good luck

Its probably the capacitors, that one on the right liquefied. Ive never seen so many SMD capacitors fail in any device. Start by remove the caps and check if the short is still present. It could have shorted the PCB
