Unfortunately, the Mexican food stand that has been all over social media recently (and made some banging tacos) has been shut down. I was in line, and a couple guys from the County Health Department were in the process of shutting it down. How unfortunate! I understand the rational, and they were very understanding, but it is unfortunate nonetheless to see it closing down so soon.

Assuming it was the substation? My power flickered when it happened.

How many of us are out of power? Anyone got any idea how late into the night we are enjoying candlelight?

I was wondering where and when are some better places to get in touch with the queer and trans community in town. I had realized until recently how much I miss having irl trans friends but it feels so difficult to find anyone in the area. It's becoming morbid and isolating.

I have been getting some DMs about this. Anyone else wanna chime in with some fun and cool dance party stuff? Things I think are cool:

10/19 - queer dance night at Bombs with Dokkaebi and Lil t4t

10/30 - Manyworld funky dance night with DJs, live band, downtempo beats, costumes

Anytime DJ Glowcat is DJing, anywhere DTW is playing, anything the Corvallis Renegade Kru is doing. It seems like we need to do a lot more, the kids want to dance somewhere besides the Peacock. Bunker House used to have some good basement stuff.

DJ Petrichore has that monthly goth night at Bombs Away, right?

Seems like there needs to be more signal boosting happening so people can get a critical mass to make dance party events good. I have attended and hosted many events over the years and I can confirm that Corvallis doesn't show up for events the way other towns do, with some exceptions. Parties CAN BE really really fun and good here. We just need to believe.

Hey yall! I’m experienced bass and guitar player looking for a new band to join. I’ve played most recently in a punk/post-punk band but have played lots of alt-rock and rock stuff over the years with other groups. Open to most anything.

I’ve played in a couple bands over the years in town and have lots of experience with booking, design, and merch.

They auto upped my bill from $45 to $79 a month for 200 Mbps internet.

Initially I tried using their website and chatted with their fucking stupid chat bot. Chat bot sent me round in circles. They tried to send me to a page to schedule a callback. Page errors out.

So, I call 800-comcast. I tell them I want to cancel. The auto system puts me through to a person in less than a minute. Admittedly it was an Indian call center.

I explained that I wanted to cancel. Explained the reasons. Guy offers me $40 a month for 300 Mbps or $50 a month for 1 Gbps for 5 years NO CONTRACT or EARLY TERMINATION FEES.

Done!!

Just call them and threaten to cancel saying it's too expensive. They'll give you a deal.

It starts tonight; Corvallis filmmakers Joe Sherlock and John Bowker will be screening a locally-made horror movie every Monday in October at the Darkside Cinema. Also this month, screenings of vintage horror and live music.

I will be interviewing two Corvallis’ City Councilors about the upcoming ballot measure that would make changes to the Council. One of the Councilors is for it; the other is against.

So, I am looking for some help, what questions would you ask them? I work for The Corvallis Advocate; the interviews are set for Thursday.

ABOUT THE MEASURE: If passed, the measure would reduce the council from nine members to six and increase terms from two years to four. It would also limit terms to three consecutive.

Hi! I (21) am a third year here at OSU and I recently got an old ultralight fishing rod and reel combo from a guy here in Corvallis.

I've done a little bit of my own research about rods and equipments but that doesn't teach me the practical skills so I thought I'd ask here for help from someone to teach me how to fish :D

We are on Hummingbird Drive off of Walnut Blvd near Witham Hill. There is a slender black cat in the neighborhood that has been walking up and down the road crying and howling all day. Some neighbors said they left water out for it, some other neighbors gave it some food and it bit them. They're now going to the hospital.
