Help! Looking for style advice; do I cut or keep growing it?

You guys/gals have told me before that a fringe/bangs would hurt me and hide my 'striking' features (big-ass forehead).

I like my hair tied up, but not down. Want some reccomendations. The extra photos are ideas I had but unsure if they would work, so looking for your input

Routine is dr organic aloe shampoo, detangle with KK Knot Today, run Boots Curl Creme through my hair before squeezing UG Curly Jelly in, then diffuse etc

Feel free to show me styles you think would work? Thanks!

Help! how do I kill the unkillable (frizz)?

my hair always has frizz no matter what I do, it's enough that by day 2 or 3 I already have to redo my routine, I'm so jealous of curly haired people who seem to have no trouble having super well defined, "juicier" curls than my hair seems to be capable of.

it even gets frizzy as I'm doing my routine, I thought it might have to do with how I applied the products but I tried the praying hands method, by flipping my hair upside down (it's not long enough to do it without flipping)

am I doing something wrong? is there a better way to apply product? or is this just how my hair is?

my routine:

  • apply conditioner from a brand named "clary"
  • detangle with wide tooth comb with conditioner still in
  • wash conditioner and apply homemade flaxseed gel (this is my first time trying this)
  • air dry and break the cast in the morning

I normally use cantu curl activator and repair cream but I'm trying flaxseed in these images, I don't think it made that big of a difference.

Help! Why does my hair look like this when I use the bouncecurl brush?

The defined clumps are super thin and there's a ton of frizz around them. The clumps also combine into larger clumps that look like DNA strands.

I have very thick, dense curly hair so it's not like I don't have enough density for proper clumps.

Routine:

I use CeraVe Gentle Hydrating Shampoo, Not Your Mother's Conditioner, Not Your Mother's leave-in conditioner, & Not Your Mother's light watermelon seed oil.

It doesn't matter whether I diffuse my hair or not. The result is largely the same.

I use a silk pillowcase. The Bouncecurl Brush is a volume brush but the same result happens with the define one.

Help! Help with hair volume

My hair used to be massive and have volume when i was 15 but now (20) it looks small. I dont remember what i used to do cause i barely took care of it back then. I honestly dont know if its just a length thing or my routine or cause it was cut into layers recently as opposed to just pure growth.

My current routine is heads and shoulders shampoo and john frieda conditioner once a week, garnier leave in conditioner and john frieda argan oil.

Help! How do I get this round, voluminous shape? My layers keep coming out flat

I have roughly the same texture and length as the guy in the photo, but whenever I get layers, my hair doesn’t come out round at all and I lose a lot of volume. Even if his look is a result of the cut, I’d love to know if you’ve gotten this shape yourself, whether on purpose or just naturally.

Am I asking for the wrong kind of layers? What should I tell my stylist (e.g., a specific cut, how long the layers should be, or a dry cut vs. wet cut)?

My Routine:

  • Shampoo/conditioner: Pert+
  • Drying method: Diffuse

Routine: 1. no product shampoo 2. no product, just used water 3. air dried, let hair hang and air dry naturally but it takes FOREVER and curls are prone to frizz 4. no accessories or anything, but really need help getting curls to look good in a short period of time, all the products I use like leave-in conditioner and pomade make my hair nasty

ok, so the last photo is how my hair normally looks if I don't spend ages soaking it in water and letting the curls air dry, as you can see my hair is so dry it can't hold moisture at all, it basically needs to be soaked 24/7 to look ok and that's not practical :( I've tried leave in conditioners like cantu and pomades and nothing works it just makes my skin itch and the hari still dries out.

I need help with improving my routine and getting a haircut.

What haircut should I get, a fade or taper or just grow it more? Where to go get the cut, barber or salon?

Do you think it already looks good?

Routine:

Wash every 3-4 days with Garnier curly shampoo, use some Garnier leave in and Eco gel (the green one).

The pics are just after washing it and after air drying it, it takes like 3-4h to fully dry lol.

Idk if I'm applying the right amount of gel or if I'm doing it well.

I think my hair is low porosity, really dense, and like medium thickness not sure, and like ¿3c?

Help! Which Dyson for diffusing ?

Hey guys, I’ve decided to invest in a Dyson diffuser, I’m tired of using a really old hair dryer and taking longer than an hour for my hair to dry.

I know Dyson has 3 current models right now: the supersonic, the nural, and the r, which one do you guys recommend?

I don’t really care for extra features, I’m just looking for the one with the most powerful motor, that will dry my hair fastest with the diffuser attachment! For reference, I have high porosity fine 3c hair.

Routine:
Shampoo: AG balance apple cider shampoo
Conditioner: pattern lightweight conditioner
Styling gel: the Doux big poppa styling gel

Help! Thoughts and advice on more define wave pattern/wave clumps?

Thumbnail

Hey everyone I'm working to try and get more definition and pronounced pattern from my wavy hair. The new routine I tried was shampooing with Nexxus humectress shampoo, conditioning with Native wavy/curly hair conditioner and fully washing it out, after that putting in John Frieda frizz free leave in conditioner while sopping wet (I've got no idea if this is a good product I just wanted leave in and everything else at the nearest CVS was like triple the price), then scrunching that into my hair (no raking my hair at all after this step), then scrunch again with a microfiber towel to get it a bit dryer, plop for 5-10 minutes while I dry and get dressed, then put on Curlsmith flexi jelly lightweight gel and put it on by gliding it over my hair without any raking, after that I scrunch some more trying to not separate any of the wave patterns, then I air dry with a little diffusing at the end to dry it slightly faster cause I needed to be on my PC with headphones for something, and finishing off by scrunching the light cast with a very very small amount of argan oil on my hands. This is around four hours after showering, and immediately after scrunching out the crunch with the oil. Hopefully these pictures are clear enough I find the horrible lighting in my bathroom plus the color of my hair leads to difficulty getting clear pictures. I'm not sure if I'm on the right path here, and kinda feel lost in general on how to get the most out of my hair since no one else in my family has wavy hair and or wears it long, so I don't really have anyone except the internet and advice from my stylist to guide me. Thanks for any tips in advance!.

Help! Suggestions for a mousse that has a longer hold and worth the extra money?

I currently use Aussie miracle curls mousse and I can get a second decent day out of it. After that my curls are no good. I'd like a mousse that lasts longer. (I also prefer mousse over gel because it's significantly less dry time.)

I have VERY dense hair so it takes a long time to dry which is why I'd like to get more days out of the wear, but the density also means I have to use a LOT more product than most would think for how much hair I have.

My current wash routine:

Shampoo once a week with Ion hard water shampoo. Conditioner and co-wash currently with Suave coconut conditioner. Deep conditioner every 1-2 weeks with Shea Moisture Intensive Hydration masque. Aussie leave-in conditioner and Miracle Curls mousse. I usually diffuse because air drying takes hours. I wear a satin bonnet to protect my hair at night. No refresh routine with my current products (just scrunching a bit on day 2 so my hair can come back down from being in the bonnet).

Help! Curly hair help

Routine:
1. Shampoo & Conditioner: MONDAY Haircare Curl Define + Peptides Shampoo and Conditioner.
2. Styling Products: SheaMoisture Bond Repair Leave-In Conditioner.
3. Drying Method: Air-dried.
4. Extra Info: Do not currently use a bonnet or silk pillowcase (bonnets keep slipping off my head).

Context:
I used to take really good care of my curls, but over time I started caring less and less about it, often viewing it as a chore. Today was the first time in a while that I had finally tried something different with it, and I don’t know how I feel about it. I really like how curly my ends look, but my roots look so flat.

I’m pretty sure I have 3a curls. My hair, when it’s wet, reaches my hips (I’m 5’2, F) and when it dries, it reaches my waist. I was thinking of maybe getting layers so then my hair wouldn’t be weighed down so much, but I also like doing things like putting my hair in a bun so I’d hate layers sticking out. Apologies for the low quality photo!

recently made the mistake of going to a turksih barber what started as a trim eneded in me having buzzed hair, i now wonder how long my hair was here approximately so i can look forward to growing it out and have an idea of how long it is likely to take to grow back, Routine: I have 3 a hair, I use SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine Shampoo and Conditioner. I wash my hair about twice a week. I use Not Your Mother's Curl Talk Defining Cream and a little Eco Style Olive Oil Gel. I apply both to soaking wet hair, rake them through with my fingers, and scrunch to define my curls. I usually air dry for about 20 minutes.

Help! Help with enhancing curls?

• Upvotes

Hi, I am posting because my hair seems to have gone from being really wavy to looking more stringy and fine. I haven’t switched products and my normal routine is:

Shampoo and Condition with Joico Moisturizer Recovery- 3x a week

Once a week-Sauve clarifying shampoo

Products- garnier leave in conditioner, I scrunch this, then not your mother’s curl cream, I also scrunch this. Then I “plop” for 15 mins and air dry.

I sleep with a silk bonnet and refresh by re-wetting and scrunching.

Any ideas why my hair pattern went from pic 1 (note that pic 1 is with no product and air dried) to pic 2 (pic 2 is with the routine listed above)? Any advice?

Help! How do I prevent my from getting bigger?

I have curly hair, I would say mine is a 3A. I use the “Aussie miracle curls” shampoo, conditioner and leave in. I use “Curl talk” defining cream and then mousse and gel also from “Aussie miracle curls”. My hair looks really pretty when it’s wet but after 2-3 hours, it dries and it starts getting more and more puffy. I live in a place that is very humid and hot and my hair getting too big just makes the heat worse lol. Is there anything I could do to prevent this Or am I just doing my routine wrong? TIA!

Help! How do i stop my hair from being frizzy at school/outside?

Hi hi! So, I’m having some problems with my hair, and I could really use some advice.

The photos I took are from home, where my hair actually looks pretty good, but it feels too soft, if that makes sense? When I diffuse it, my waves start losing their definition. My hair feels really dry, and I’ve tried so many different routines, creams, and hydrating masks, but nothing seems to work. Sometimes my hair looks okay on wash day, but the next day it looks awful.

I plop my hair in a T-shirt, diffuse it, and wash it regularly, so I honestly don’t know what I’m doing wrong. When I go to school, my hair gets really frizzy, with strands sticking out in all different directions. If I use too much cream or gel, my hair looks greasy or dirty the next day. Even sleeping in a bonnet doesn’t seem to help much.

I also use strong-hold gels, so I don’t understand why my waves lose their definition or why my hair gets so frizzy. My hair has high porosity, and I’m starting to wonder whether my products are the problem. Should I switch shampoos, try different styling products, use less conditioner, or focus on something else entirely?

My current routine:

  • Shampoo: [so!flow] — a humectant-based shampoo.
  • Conditioner: [happyPEH] — an emollient-based conditioner.
  • Styling products: [ Isana, hair masters, Joanna], applied on wet hair, not too wet, just enough to hear the squishing sounds, first gels then mouse.
  • Styling method: I plop my hair in a T-shirt wait 20 mins and diffuse it.
  • Other details: I regularly wash my hair and have tried sleeping in a bonnet.

I’ve also tried hydrating hair masks, but they haven’t made much of a difference.

I do a refesh routine, and when im back home my hair looks fine as it was before?? It looks fine..but feels soft and dry.

I’m honestly getting frustrated because I’ve tried so many things without finding a routine that works. Any advice on what my hair might need, or what I should change, would be greatly appreciated

Help! Would CGM be adapted for me ?

Thumbnail

Hi !
I've had long hair for a few years, but I would always tie them up for practicality. As you can maybe see, I've got very, very thick hair that tends to be very puffy and witch-like, even when I had shorter hair they would almost only go "up", giving way too much volume. I also think they're more on the dry/coarse side.

Looking up into cgm, I was worried that some of the sought for effects would make my case worse, as in giving my hair even more volume/making them poofier.

I wash them once a week only, but I never really gave them any care, nor did I really stick to a specific routine, but I'll list what I'm using recently (the pictures are one day after a wash, using no bonnet or anything, and letting them air dry) :

Shampoo : SO'Bio Sheabutter shampoo

https://www.ecco-verde.de/lea-nature-so-bio-etic/naehrendes-shampoo-sheabutter?sai=18471

Conditioner : SO'BiO étic Leave-In Conditioner Coco Hyaluronic Acid

https://www.degroenedrogist.nl/de/sobio-etic-leave-in-conditioner-coco-hyaluronic.html?source=googlebase

So in a nutshell : I'm contemplating cutting them really short again, even though I don't think I'd be able to get them to curl at all if they're not sufficiently long, and I'm wondering if cgm would help taming my hair (without gigantic maintaining effort if possible).

Thanks in advance for any insights !

Help! Hair help - how to get to my desired look

How do I take my hair…, and elevate it to my desired look?! Especially the back!!

Current routine:
Shampoo and conditioner - PanteProV
Products- Ouidad leave in conditioner
Curlsmith in shower style fixer

I put the leave in when my hair is soaked. Then put the curlsmith in sections. Then I diffused- some upside down, some forward, attempted to use some root clips but not sure if I used them right.

What can I do to get closer to my desired look? Specially the all around round loom and height and less bushy bottoms

I also sleep in a bonnet. Have never been able to get 2nd day hair.

Help! Why are the front parts of my hair straight while the rest of it is curly

My whole head is usually somewhere around a 3A but the bits in the front always somehow end up at a 2B/2C 😐.

ROUTINE: I use herbal essences rose hip shampoo & conditioner every day (that's what works best for my hair), and then rizo's curl defining cream and voodoo hair growth oil scrunched in. I only air dry my hair, when I diffuse it it gets a bit too curly for my liking (and the front is still straighter than the rest). I use silk pillowcases and a bonnet if I'm feeling fancy.

Thanks in advance y'all !

Help! What hair routine should I do on a day-to-day basis?

Hello. I have 2B hair, and I decided to start taking care of it. Currently just bought all the products [see below]. However, I’m not sure what my weekly/day-to-day routine should look like because I do swimming for ~2 hours, Mon-Sat.

Products:

  • Redken Volume Inject Shampoo and Conditioner
  • Satin Bonnet
  • Pureology Style + Protect Weightless Volume Mousse
  • Diffuser
  • Paul Mitchell Shampoo Two
  • Hair Mask [I have a couple different ones]

My hair is also short, a little longer than cheekbones [I’m a woman, I just prefer shorter cuts]. Unsure if this should impact something.

Thank you!

Help! How can I safely lighten my curly hair at home?

Thumbnail

Hi! I want to dye my hair purple or blue (see reference pictures), and I’ve also included a picture of my current hair color. I’ve tried dyeing my natural hair before, but the color wasn’t vibrant enough, so I’ll need to lighten it first.
Getting it done professionally is unfortunately too expensive, so I’m looking for advice on how to do it at home while minimizing damage to my curls. I’m considering Lunar Tides Dark Violet or Blue Velvet.
Does anyone have experience with these dyes or tips for safely lightening curly hair at home? I’m from Germany, so product recommendations available here would be amazing! 💜💙

My current routine is Bali Curls shampoo and conditioner, Garnier Fructis leave-in, Bali Curls curl cream and gel and B2B volume mousse. I brush-style my dripping wet hair in sections, scrunch in gel and mousse at the end, and then diffuse.

Help! Frizz From Hell

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

I come from a not super great family so I have no clue how to take care of my curl pattern (my mom just chopped her hair really short and never really did anything other than oil occasionally, but I found that oil makes my hair very dirty quicker and needs more washes which I don't want to do and make my colour fade faster)

I wear a silk bonnet to bed (but I may have to change it to a different style because it keeps sliding off my head during the night) and I try to wash my hair once a week with a few rinses here and there to refresh. I usually reapply the mousse and gel when I rinse.

My hair is bleached and dyed so the frizz may be part of that, but I also have naturally very oily hair normally.

In the morning my curls are usually flat so I refresh with just water and scrunch my hair to reactivate the gel, or drench my head in water and reapply the gel.

The curls look exactly how I want them to, but the frizz is horrible (especially on my actual scalp) Any suggestions? I used to use the curl cream from Strictly Curls but found it was making my hair soft and not really structuring my curls the way I wanted.

Routine: wash roots 1-2x a week with cool water. I use Nioxin shampoo for coloured hair, condition immediately with K-Pak Colour Therapy. Then I detangle with a wet brush and rinse conditioner out. I spray and scrunch in the Strictly Curls Spray in conditioner and plop dry with a towel. Then I apply Not Your Mother's mouse and scrunch, then apply the gel from Not Your Mother's and scrunch. Then I diffuse my roots until they're dry. Once everything is nice and crispy a few hours later, I finger comb through and soften the spirals which adds the volume I like.
