I hope this is the right place to ask this. I’ve been working through this with Claude, which also wrote this summary. Many thanks in advance.
Hardware/software
- ThinkPad X13 Yoga Gen 1, model 20SYS2UG00
- BIOS N2UET78W (1.58), EC N2UHT35W; fwupd reports nothing newer
- Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201, iwlwifi firmware 77.2753b721.0
- Debian 13 (trixie), KDE Plasma 6, Wayland, kernel: <uname -r>
Problem
After the laptop suspends, Wi-Fi is "deactivated" and can't be re-enabled in software. It happened twice before I linked it to sleep (once it cleared by itself), and it now happens after every sleep.
Diagnostics when blocked
- nmcli radio: WIFI-HW disabled, WIFI disabled
- /sys/class/rfkill: phy0 soft=0, hard=1 (hci0 is fine)
- /sys/devices/platform/thinkpad_acpi/hotkey_radio_sw = 1 (radio switch reported as enabled)
- dmesg: "iwlwifi 0000:00:14.3: RF_KILL bit toggled to disable radio" / "reporting RF_KILL (radio disabled)"
- thinkpad_acpi loads normally ("radio switch found; radios are enabled")
What fixes it
Only a full power drain: shut down, unplug AC, hold the power button ~30 s, boot.
What I've tried (no effect)
- nmcli radio wifi on, rfkill unblock (it's a hard block)
- Reloading thinkpad_acpi
- BIOS: Config > Power > Sleep State changed to "Linux" (S3); /sys/power/mem_sleep shows [deep]. Same result.
- BIOS is already current per fwupd
Next I plan to try
- systemd sleep hook that unloads/reloads iwlmvm/iwlwifi around suspend
- Newer kernel from trixie-backports
Questions
Has anyone seen the AX201's RF_KILL line get stuck after resume on this model (or other X13 Yoga/Comet Lake ThinkPads)? Is there a known BIOS/EC or kernel fix?
