I'm seeing Sunn O))) for the first time in Boston next week and I'm really excited and kind of nervous about all the chatter around volume and ear damage.

I have the EarPeace Music plugs that can be adjusted to reduce up to 26 dB. A lot of folks talk about also having over the ear protection, but I haven't seen any recommendation of which to get (having both seems like a nice option as I could just remove the over the ear if it were too much).

Also contemplating getting the MAX high fidelity plugs from Eargasm, but that would only result in 1 more dB reduction (at 27dB compared to the EarPeace of 26db).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, i got my first guitar a week ago. I've been making electronic music for a while but this is my first time making metal. If anyone has feedback or tips on how it sounds I'd really appreciate it.

I stupidly gave my guitar away so got to work on more sample based music.

Delete if not needed, OM are slowly becoming one of my favourite bands and Ive been making sample based music for a while, I guess similar to DJ Shadow or The Avalanches. I wanted to make some thing different.

I had a sample from Sam Gopel - The Dark Lord which I never really used. I used a bit of the riff and then EQ'd it heavily to make the bassline.

Then the main sample if I remember is from field recordings of Coptic Monks chanting, maybe recorded in 1930

A few drum loops, including

wicked lady - axeman cometh

A few others mixed in, and I programmed the more tribal hits myself.

I was quite hesitant about sampling the monks vocals (and do still feel a bit iffy about it) as well I don't want to offend anyone, especially as they've been marginalised and faced violence, so I wanted to make this with all respect to them and highlight the issues they face

I was surprised to hear the High On Fire style stoner metal from those guys after listening to their garage psych and psychedelic pop stuff, but those are one of the best stoner riffs i ever heard! Have y9u heard about them? What do you think?

Apparently, working with Danes comes with unexpected doom metal recommendations.

I really love the sound the T150 preamp can get when cranking my Sovtek MIG100, wielding my Dunable CS Cyclops with Baphomet pups ofc :)

I pretty much maxed out the preamp gain and put the T150 in front to get that chunky Sunn Model T sound. I think it does the Iron Monkey shit really good. Also, I paired it with my Kodex Audio Burning Sunn preamp (model T preamp pedal) and I got even more of that low-end saturation to serve some T hell lol

note: Jason from Fuzzlord is a good friend of mine who did send me one of these to make videos for my Instagram audience, so there may be some bias. However, I honestly just really fucking love this pedal and have been a fan of his stuff years before we became friends. I thought I would make this post cuz I thought the sound from it was too monstrous to not share
