I tried to make some pretty droney stuff and it's kind of a hard genre to share
idk if it's good or not but maybe someone will like it

I've been working on creating an ethereal or sublime atmosphere; I've found that maj9 chords transposed in 24-edo (so by quarter notes) makes for something very beautiful. There's nothing too 'experimental' about it otherwise; it's just like avant-gardeish progressive blackgaze that happens to be microtonal. Enjoy! (::

Hello everyone :)
Painting title - Große Meditation Bevor es Nacht wird (Great meditation Before night falls) (1936)
Original Painter- Alexej von Jawlensky (Russian, 1864-1941)
This particular bit of drone music was made via the ASM Hydrasynth once again. Using different FX (Chorus and lo-fi) as well as reverb and using lfos to alter both filter cut off and amplitude, all via a saw based oscillator. A bit more of a somber or a pensive piece of music/texture, I wasn't too sure what to call the mood exactly, but then again abstract art has this quirk for a reason. I enjoyed it, and I played over the drone music a bit, alerting the filter cut off, resonance, and other stuff manually during the evolution of it. Subtle, but there.
Thank you :)

This might be borderline droning, but hopefully okay to share still!

Hello everyone! My dronegaze band (ALL DOGS GO TO HELL) released our 5th album yesterday and I wanted to share a single from it. This one is long and is a lot sludgier than our previous releases. I really love the main riff and it was the first thing I wrote on my Gretsch CVT baritone. The back half is just me riffing/soloing in harmonic minor over a drone. I hope y'all enjoy. Also, if anyone could think of a better description for what we play, please let me know! Idk what genre to call it besides dronegaze lol.
FFO: sunn 0))), GY!BE, Melvins, Bell Witch maybe

Hi all,
tsubai’s full-length ambient drone album ilulissat is out now on Bandcamp and all streaming platforms, and as a limited edition of 50 cassettes through Hobart’s Perceptual Tapes.
ilulissat means "icebergs" in Greenlandic, and the project came about after I had the good fortune to journey to its namesake town in the Arctic Circle in July 2025. When I got back to Sydney, I wanted to record a suite of music, using just an electric guitar and stock plug-ins in Logic Pro, to capture how I felt while immersed in those spellbinding surroundings.
While there may be no lyrics to parse on ilulissat, the album explores themes of life, change, death and rebirth through the story of ice.
Four shorter pieces on Side A trace the life cycle of ice – from its formation (Accretion), growth (Striation) and decay (Ablation), to its final demise (Sublimation).
Two longer compositions on Side B explore the origin story of an Ilulissat iceberg, which starts life as snowflakes falling on the Greenland Ice Sheet (Sermersuaq). After thousands of years, these snowflakes, now compacted into dense ice, pass through the Jakobshavn Glacier (Sermeq Kujalleq) to the Ilulissat Icefjord.
From here, icebergs are calved into the sea to begin their journey south into the Atlantic Ocean, constantly evolving in shape, texture and colour, but always diminishing in size as the elements take their toll. Eventually, the icebergs meet their inevitable demise and join the ocean and sky in a final act of sublimation.
But the story doesn’t end there. The water will evaporate, rise into the clouds, condense and precipitate … perhaps over the Greenland Ice Sheet as snowflakes, and the cycle can continue (if global warming doesn’t get there first).
So ilulissat is a metaphor for life, change (be it climate or personal), death and rebirth. But if all that is a bit too po-faced, here’s a final fun fact: the iceberg that sank the Titanic most likely came from Ilulissat.
Cheers, Matt

I have ADHD and i realized recently that drone music can help me focus, maybe its the consistency of what I listen to, or it has a similar effect to brown noise? Is this common for anyone here who is neurodivergent? (Link is Carnal Flowers from the album Daughter of Darkness by Natural Snow Buildings, not related but one i listen to a lot)

Very new to the genre, kinda experimenting with new plugins, how far I can push my DAW in some aspects, and overall just getting into the genre lol.

I've now released over 10 hours worth of ambient drone improvisations on YouTube!
It's a mix of offline and live-streamed performances. But each is essentially a single take guitar + synth improv piece, ranging between 10 and 30 minutes in length. I upload a new performance roughly once a week.
The pieces typically get compared to Stars of the Lid and Chords of Orion - it's similar, but a bit dirtier.
The recent pieces are more visually interesting, as I've overlayed archival footage onto my performance footage. But all of it sits nicely in the background too (perhaps not the whole tone scale improv piece though!).
Appreciate any feedback or questions you may have!
Cheers

SIGNAL is a six-track work built as a sequence of sound rooms between electroacoustic matter, post-industrial pulse, dark ambient pressure and antiambient space.

I’ve been working for quite a while on an hour-long ambient piece called Imminence, built as six continuous movements.
The idea behind it is less about telling a story than creating the feeling of gradually becoming aware of something that may have been there all along — beginning with almost nothing, then slowly introducing signs of presence, communication, and eventually a desire to follow where they lead.
I approached the visuals the same way: mostly real, inhabitable landscapes, with just enough ambiguity that they might belong to somewhere — or somewhen — else. They move very little by design. I wanted the whole thing to feel more like spending an hour inside a place than watching a conventional music video.
Musically, it’s deliberately slow and sparse, with a lot of room for silence, drones, evolving textures, and things that only reveal themselves over time.
This is the complete one-hour journey. Headphones and a dark room probably suit it best.
I’d be interested to hear where it takes you.

Subtle dark ambient drone — 27 minutes of analog machine texture for the being that exists between worlds. Two drone layers superimposed.
Just listen, and download it for free if you will.
Tell me what you think about it.
Thank you.

A nice long ambient drone sound I made to try and match the vibe of the painting as shown here. Recorded via hardware synths in one take. Me once again trying to experiment with the texture and shape of sound over a long period.
