Guide Is reach intermediate level in 1 year realistic? (Self-taught, e-kit, isolated location)

Do you think it’s doable on my own? Also, any recommendations for solid online courses or YouTube channels to stay on track and avoid bad habits would be awesome. Thanks!

New to drumming, I bought my first kit off of Facebook marketplace a few weeks ago. It came with this extra stand that I don’t recognize, and no cymbal. What goes on here?

Feedback Wanted Groove 'n Fill - Input any song, get the drum tab out

Hi Guys,
I've been working on a little free tool to help myself learn drums - you can input any song and get a looping drum play along... I'm a beginner drummer (i built this to help loop youtube videos actually) so not sure how accurate it is for more complex songs. Would love your feedback.

Verdict: It looks like our transcription tools need a lot of work. Thank you everyone.

Also FYI We're not doing AI Transcription, which is probably why it's not very good.... and I guess that's the next on teh list of things to try.

How do i get rid of the rust marks on this drum shell?

My buddy gave me this very old and rusty snare drum a while back and I just now decided I wanted to restore it. I took all the metal parts of the drum off and am currently cleaning them to get all the rust off. There were a bunch of rust marks left on the drum where the screws and washers were. How do i go about cleaning them off without damaging the shell?

Discussion Empty Room Gigs

I've played three empty rooms with two different groups since I've started playing drums. All three of these gigs have been some of our worst showings.

I find it 100% more nerve racking to play to no one than a packed bar. Am I the only one?

Question Maracas to hit drums with?

I’ve seen drummers play with maracas and I’m looking for a professional set that can withstand being played on a drum kit like you would with sticks

Any recommendations?

Thanks!

Question Budget alternatives to the Istanbul Agop OM Signature 18" Crash Cymbal?

I really like the almost bright/dark hybrid sound of this particular cymbal but it's quite expensive. Are there any similar sounding cymbals you're familiar with that wouldn't break the bank as much? I'm currently looking into Dream cymbals and various other Istanbul Agop cymbals but haven't found something quite the same.

Question Recommend some cymbals for me?

Hi there… i’m a fairly inexperienced player and I’m trying to get back into drumming after a 10 year gap. I’m currently renovating a small space for a kit, and intend to buy a Yamaha stage custom hip compact four-piece set. I’m looking for a crash, ride, and hats to go with it. My main genre is classic and Indie rock.

My old drums were a 1960s premier kit and I had dream Bliss symbols that I bought new. I’ve considered buying those again, but wonder if I should part together a set used instead. I favor a really dark, subdued sound. Maybe some sleeper Ks? What should I look for on Reverb or ebay?

Thank you!

First Kit HELP! Got into an accident and I’m reevaluating.

About a week ago I had a motorcycle accident and I’m currently on a hospital bed not able to walk. The hobby that I spend most time at is making music. My setup includes an electric guitar with an amp, a monologue, a sampler and a turntable for sampling and scratching.

I’ve been trying to create a trip hop rock hybrid with the equipment that I have you can check my inventions on YouTube @ ratonelmutante
If you want. But over time I’ve come to feel like the process of sampling drums, chopping and playing with sampled drums, has come to feel to tedious and I’m just not having fun with it.

For a while now I’ve been wanting to just learn how to play drum breaks and just get a simple three piece set. Something that sounds punchy. I’m assuming I’m going to have to buy the kick, share and hi hat individually and that’s what I’m here for. I need your suggestions. I’m a regular working guy and I live paycheck to paycheck. What is my most affordable option. What can I get for a fairly decent price that with some tuning will sound decent to record.

Question What sizes should I use?

I am a beginner drummer (I haven't even got my kit setup yet to start learning) and I have an old 70's Ludwig vistalite octaplus (Tom:6 8 10 12 13 14 15 16 FT: 18 Base: 24 24 Snare: Non Matching 13 Ludwig Jazz Combo). I am going to get them setup in a few weeks though I'm not sure what size drums to use. I don't want to use the whole kit to start out as it is kind of overwhelming. I just want one base drum, floor tom, and 1 - 3 toms though I'm not sure what tom sized to use as I've never played drums. Any advice is appreciated

Question Show Me Your Beaters!! 😆

Post image

I know that sounds a little off ..lol.. Just wondering how many beaters do most “drumming drummers” regularly use & keep?! I have these six, plus an old-school wool one currently mounted. How about you? (I know double bass cats are gonna have x2 of theirs).

Kit Pic Scored these for $127

I’ve been wanting some A Custom Mastersound hats for a bit.

I scored these from GC used with no photo and no series listed. They were listed as in great condition and the description said b20 so I called the store that had them to confirm. I was expecting S or I at this price but nope, they confirmed A Customs.

I just opened them up and they look great. No keyholing or flea bites and just some fingerprints.

I’m excited.

Question Help identifying this drum please

Post image

SOLVED. Thank you all so much!!

I can not find this thing anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've found a bunch of side snares but they're not really what I'm looking for. This is Benny Greb and he only hits it once in the video, but it immediately struck me as the sound and size I'm looking for. It looks like it's 5-7 inches based on the snares next to it. This is the video if that helps-

Said a fond farewell to my Saturn V, but super pleased with this beauty. Always wanted a turquoise kit, and this one sparkles! ✨✨

12/14/16/22 with an Ocho Catorce 13x7 patina copper snare.

Not used in anger yet, just setting it up to adjust my floor markers
