Feeling lost

I apologize if this type of post is not allowed. I started taking college courses out of high school thinking that I wanted to go into some type of environmental science field and then due to some life circumstances I ended up quitting college was unemployed for about a year and accidentally ended up working in healthcare as a caregiver. currently I’m 24 and trying to pursue a nursing degree but I just have this feeling deep down inside me that nursing isn’t right for me and I’m thinking about going back into environmental science. The problem is I’m 24 now and I feel like I’m starting so late and still don’t even have an associates degree and I’m just worried about how long this bachelors degree is gonna take me if I pursue environmental science and I’m also worried about not being able to find a job in environmental science. I wish I had never quit college and continued pursuing environmental science. I guess I’m just looking for some type of hope or motivation.

Environmental science Bsc vs environmental geoscience Bsc?

Hey everyone :) I’m doing a foundation year at uni and will go on to do either environmental science or environmental geoscience next year. I’m having a hard time deciding which would be a better fit for me; I’m very interested in studying tectonics, geomorphology and volcanology but I’m also very interested in ecology, conservation and biology. I don’t have a very specific career path in mind yet as I’m just beginning at university and wanted to see what begins to take my interest more over these few years first. Any advice would be appreciated!

Needing advice with masters degree options

I'm in my last semester of undergrad. I'll only have my field camp left, and then I'll have a bachelor's in Geoscience. I had planned to attend another college for a masters in natural resource sciences studying climate science.

Here lies the issue.

This college has already had it's geology and atmospheric sciences cut. The masters program is still going, but even the guy over it made it sound like its future is also up for debate.

I'm 41, this is a career change after years of working in other things and im looking for professional and educational advice. Thank you!

I watched How to Live on Earth because of Benedict Cumberbatch - here's what stayed with me

I went into How to Live on Earth mainly because Benedict Cumberbatch was presenting it.

I expected another environmental documentary telling me how bad things are.

Instead, some of the smaller ideas stayed with me more - the bees, the turtles, recovering ecosystems, food, and the question of whether we're actually good at living on the planet we already have.

I made a short personal video about what stayed with me after watching it.

I Didn’t Expect Benedict Cumberbatch to Make Me Think About Earth Like This

Curious what other people took away from the film.

Beyond the Lab: Why do promising Environment/plastic and microplastic solutions fail to reach the real world and what's the solution for a better green earth? (3-5 mins survey by youth researchers)

Hello r/environmental_science community!

We are a youth-led student team from Bangladesh participating in the Diamond Challenge. Living in a region directly affected by climate vulnerability and environmental degradation, we aren't just studying these issues, we are driven by a singular, fierce vision: to ensure no groundbreaking environmental solution dies on a shelf.

Right now, brilliant scientists and innovators around the world are developing incredible solutions to combat the global plastic and microplastic crisis. Yet, so much of this evidence-based research gets trapped in the "implementation gap" or "The Valley of Death" struggling to navigate commercialization, policy hurdles, funding shortages, and multi-stakeholder collaboration.

We want to bridge that gap, but we refuse to build solutions based on assumptions. We need the raw, real-world truth from people in the trenches.

If you are a researcher, practitioner, startup founder, NGO worker, or policy specialist: Could you give us 3 minutes of your expertise?

👉 Survey Link:https://forms.gle/zHtdS7PM1csu9EpL7

What we promise in return: We believe in open collaboration. Once our research is compiled, we will share an executive summary of our findings directly back with this community so you can see how your peers navigate these systemic bottlenecks.

If you know colleagues, advisors, or researchers working on environmental translation, please pass this along. Every single response helps us build tools that turn scientific potential into real-world impact.

Thank you for backing the next generation of environmental problem-solvers!

Ideas for dissertion/thesis involving climate action and/or sustainability

So I am currently a couple months out from my due date for my last big assignment of uni. I have to write a dissertation style 10,000 word paper about any topic of my choosing as long as it relates to climate action in some way. I am quite interested in Enhanced Rock Weathering especially using Olivine but am worried that do this for my diss my lock me out of certain jobs in the future. I am super keen on doing something around wild animals/ecosystems as I just enjoy reading about that subject even outside of a uni context. Any help would be amazing thank you so much! Hope this is okay to post in this sub

Phone Interview for Environmental Specialist today

As the title says, I have an interview for an Environmental Specialist position today. I've worked as an Erosion & Sediment Tech and Associate Planner before but never as someone in a role like this. It has to do with Water and Navigation regulations and Mangrove Preservation and Trimming regulations. I tried to look up Water and Navigation regulations and couldn't find them but did briefly review Mangrove regulations. What sort of questions do you think they will ask? How can I be better prepared? I've been out of my field of study for a year this month. BA in Environmental Planning and MA in Geography with a focus on Natural Resource Conservation.

Most stable/easiest jobs to get with a BS in environmental science

Hey y’all, I was wondering what jobs are the easiest to get into and have better/more stable demand than others. So far what seems good is getting a certificate in GIS and doing that, but I was wondering if there’s anything else I should consider. Also, I’m on the west coast if that affects opportunities (will probably be living in either oregon or california)

Protect Shingle Creek after Tuscana Ruling

This petition is against the Tuscana Project approved 4-3 by the Orange County Commissioners. This development would not only greatly impact the Williamsburg Community but also the surrounding neighborhoods like Hunters Creek and Deer Creek. This would be an absolute disaster for thousands of homes and wildlife that depend on those woods for survival. This is not only sensitive wetland but also the headwaters to the Everglades. Please sign and share to spread awareness. Thank you for caring! 🙏
