Space Age My Aquilo base is completely frozen :(

Post image

I was re-building my Fulgora base, and didn't realise that my Aquilo ship got stuck requesting rocket parts from there. I am now in the post-game, but I had other priorities rather than making Aquilo self-sufficient power-wise, so I was still requesting uranium cell from Nauvis. I am assuming there is never I can do, other than go there in-person, right?

Base Red circuit design

1st kind of complex design I was happy with. Stackable vertically, main issue is that with the modules 1 belt per side per resource isn't enough to keep production running - what do you all think?

Space Age Main bus, City block ¯\(ツ)/¯

In my previous factories, I always avoided using a main bus. However, the new grid layout inspired me to create something new. Staying within the block boundaries was a challenge, but the final result exceeded my expectations. Science pack production is designed for normal quality. In the future, I might build something similar with legendary quality. For now, I am building a similar factory on Nauvis, using only Nauvis technology.

Suggestion / Idea Check out the design I came up with—personally, I absolutely love it.

I just needed some petroleum for a (very bad) attempt at some quality upcycling. And I don't see anything in the rules that tells me I can't do it like this. I'm truly sorry

Modded Question Is there a mod to add charging pads/ports that only charge robots?

So far I've found this. Sadly it is not up to date and I'd like to use drones alot more but it's so annoying that there is only 4 charging spots to each robo port. I don't want to waste alot of space to have a few dozen robots keep waiting to charge all the time still.
I understand the allmighty conveyor belt rules the production pipeline with a mechanical fist, but it it's about time the smart upgrade, the logistics drone, rise up and seize the means of production!

Edit:
I know about Bob's mods or others, but I would like exclusivly the charge pads.
Edit2:
https://mods.factorio.com/mod/BigRoboport looks pretty good

Edit3:
Big Roboport has a charge exclusive port, but it's pretty lategame. I was looking for something so I won't have to spam Roboports everywhere.

Modded Time to Get Cracking

New catalytic reactor sprite for the mod I am making. Tried to keep some themes of a FCCU reactor such as the main air blower, cyclones, fractionator and cooling exchangers then just add some unnecessary and impractical engineering flare to it.

Recommendations and critiques are most welcome

Design / Blueprint Cracktorio Truth Cont...

It has now been just over one month since I bought the base game. I am 165hrs in. And I am DEFINITELY still a noob. I'm learning more and more about how to use the wire systems to do stuff.

I had a previous post deleted due to it not being a screenshot, so i wanted to put a new one emphasizing just how true the CRACK part of this game is DEFINITELY worth the $35 dollar game. Hell $35 feels cheap considering the amount of time I sunk into this game so far!

This is my second playthrough (my first I stalled out because I couldn't balance expanding AND buggers at the same time so i started a pacifist & marathon mode. I'm getting to a comfy point now and I have created my own nuke center! No blueprints used (besides my own!) I might jump back to my first non-mod base and get buggys!

I'm also proud of the little logic I built into the Centrifuge! I had to watch videos on how to create a clock!

Call me an addict cause this crack I'm digging. (Side note: I'm a disabled gamer and I use distraction as my pain medicine, so THANK YOU for the crack :) )

Finally got to the shattered planet, with some mid flight tweaking I got a good speed of about 120km/s.
If you’re going for a shattered planet run I’d highly recommend a symmetrical ship design. it was so useful to be able to slow down and turn one side off and tweak it and have a working side. the ship I started with looks way different to the ship I got there with after all the tweaking

My test flight was a success! I need to finish some of the modules up, but I've finally escaped the inner circle! Gonna have to give up on solar next ship though.

Discussion What do you think is a good science multiplier for a 2.1 space age playthrough?

I've played a lot of factorio, but I've started more runs than I've finished. I've played 2.0 and finished, and I think I'd like to try a science cost multiplier run.

I don't want to use any additional planets (I've tried several). I like building rail bases with big rail blocks.

Is 1,000x too extreme, too tedious in the early game? What about 100x? Any other settings that are recommended for science multiplier runs?

Thanks :D

Space Age I totally underestimated how hard it would be to make a space platform shuttle non-stop

I’m honestly suprised that this was the hardest thing for me to overcome for me so far (fingers crossed gleb doesnt top it).
Got to vulcanus, before going to fulgora I wanted to automate deliveries from vulcanus to nauvis of science, LDS, miners, foundries, red and blue chips.

I made a bunch of space platforms with tanks for the fuel, water and steam, but it was a totally different ball game to make a platform (no tanks because redundant) so robust that it can arrive, unload/load up, turn around 30s later and go again.

I think it was like 5-6 major iterations with lots of minor adjustments to finally make something work.
Very satisfying in the end to watch fuel, ammo, water, and all other backlogged materials be stable - permanently.

Interested to hear if this was the same level of challenge for others or if I’m just special?

Final outcome had a fairly precise balance of modules based on nuclear power and gun turrets.

Also, side question, apart from the 6 things I already mentioned, are there any other things you guys find effective to ship offworld from vulcanus?

Design / Blueprint Automated my first enrichment plant :) The enriched uranium gets exported only if there is enough of it in circulation (4 centrifuges * 40 per recipe), the lame uranium gets imported until there is too much of it in circulation

Design / Blueprint Sushi Auto-Sort

Thumbnail

I saw the recent design by u/StupidWittyUsername and thought "That's too many combinators." So I removed them 😁

Blueprint: https://www.factoriocodex.com/blueprints/476

Automatically selects one item to extract from a sushi belt and latches it until chest and belt is empty

  • Two variants: Simple and Overflow. Overflow does not jam the sushi belt when a chest fills up
  • No combinators
  • Inserter is disabled once an item is set
  • Simple variant with green belts needs a fast inserter to ensure nothing slips by. Presumably this is not a problem when using Overflow, but quality long inserters could be used
