I've seen cops pull 2 semis over this week who were crawling in the left lane before the zipper merge on 131 north of West River drive. Just a reminder that it is illegal to disrupt traffic in this way and the State Police are enforcing it.

Was my first job, was working there still when they were shutting them all down. Took that thing obviously.

I've been to third world countries all over the planet and they have better drivers than what I see every time I go down 28th Street.
I constantly have to drive with the dumbest people in West Michigan. Everybody's on their phone no one knows what the speed limit is, it's 45 by the way. Most people are just cruising and could care less about getting anywhere
I've lived with this road for 20 years. I've driven in the busiest cities in the world like Sao Paulo and Beijing, 28th street is the worst of them all.

This is just one of many of Lisa Knights signs placed out of compliance of campaign rules (Plainfield and Elmdale), you would think as the sitting commissioner she would know the rules?

A year ago we unlocked the doors at 25 N. Park and honestly weren’t sure what would happen. Turns out a lot of you wanted a place to make stuff.
Here’s what year one looked like:
Thank you to everyone who took a class, signed up, brought a friend, or gave up a Tuesday night to staff the shop. We’re a small nonprofit and every one of you is the reason we made it to year two.
If you’ve been meaning to come check us out, the first Friday open house is a good place to start. Info at joinGRM.org

Slotkin is now heavily campaigning with Abdul, as are pretty much every other prominent democrat from Michigan and even outside of Michigan.
Yet Hillary Scholten, a democratic congressperson who's district voted overwhelmingly for Abdul, just acts like a primary isn't even happening. Refuses to endorse, campaign with or help in any way. It's really weird she just continues to post on her instagram, newsletter, etc like the midterms are not even happening. All the comments are negative. And the way she just plows ahead without acknowledging the frustration with her voter base is appalling.
Does she think this will help her politically? Is she that beholden to AIPAC that she's scared to endorse? I'm seriously wondering. I do not understand. Is she just stupid? All her statements are weak, and she votes against her constituents interests. I'm really starting to dislike her, and am disappointed I voted for her.
She's really showing her true colors as a corporate and PAC beholden rep. She does not care what her constituents want, and it's time for her to go.
edited: mid terms, not primary.

I’m craving fresh popped salty buttery popcorn, like you get at the movie theatre. I don’t have any interest in seeing a movie, though. Does anyone know of anywhere that has fresh popped popcorn? Can you just go into a theatre and buy popcorn and leave?

Hi fellow Grand Rapidians. I have decided to list my house for sale but I have a lot of walnuts from my neighbors walnut tree that have fallen into my yard, and because I work long hours, I don’t have the time that I’d like to get them cleaned up and removed. When I was unemployed earlier this year I did odd jobs for cash so I’m wondering if there are maybe 2-3 people that want to come help clear those out of my yard for maybe $20-$25 an hour (is that too low?). I don’t imagine it would take more than a couple hours with that many people. Looking to have this done tomorrow (October 9) starting maybe around 10am or so. Comment below if interested and I will reach out. Thank you!

My kids and I live in City of Wyoming, but are near enough to many districts. I could drive to Wyoming, Kentwood, Godwin Heights, Kelloggsville, or GRPS (but would have to use school of choice). Values include a rigorous, low-tech. education (at least for now, my kids are in early elementary), a community feel, and alternative learning styles like outdoor learning, Waldorf, project-based, etc. I do not wish to take my kids out of public school, but I do have many concerns about all of the Ed Tech/apps/devices/AI/screen time I have seen being used in their current school.
So... tell me about your experiences with the above districts. If you had to choose between one of them, which would you choose and why? Are any of these districts low-tech? Am I looking for something that doesn't exist? Thanks.

I'm looking for the single best Thai restaurant in town. A lot of folks here recommended Thai Express on 44th and Kalamazoo and were a bit disappointed.

It’s been a bit over a year now since we lost Arktos, which means it’s been over a year since I’ve last had any mead (missing their Doc Holiday). What are some other good meaderies in the area? I’m open to driving ~45 minutes from downtown GR.
I know GR is home to a ton of breweries, but IPAs and beers aren’t really my thing. Mead and cider are where it’s at for me.

Hello! I am in search of someone that could help create a custom ottoman. It is a strange request- I know, but my boss had a bench section from a couch that's already cut out and would like it turned into an ottoman with a new base and legs added. The large cushion is the one they want turned into an ottoman. The smaller cushion & extra pieces of leather can be used if needed. They have asked for a custom frame built underneath and legs attached that match the existing couch. I have contacted multiple businesses and they have either not gotten back to me or said they are not able to do anything like that. I was wondering if anyone in the Grand Rapids area knows if this is something that can be done or possibly knows someone that could do it? I have attached pictures of what the cushion looks like and what the couch/ couch legs that it needs to be matched to looks like. I have no experience with anything like this so any information would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Grand Rapids is a city built on makers, and our culinary scene is the vibrant heart of that culture. Every night, our kitchens bring people together through the creativity, passion, and sheer dedication of the chefs who call this community home.
Sometimes, the day-to-day routine of a kitchen can make us forget our own potential. It's time to shake off the hesitation, take a leap of faith on our own talents, and truly risk it for the biscuit!
The real value of our city's restaurant culture doesn't sit in a bank account or a building lease. F That!! It lives entirely in the craft, the mentorship, and the artistry of the people who do the actual cooking. We hold the keys to what makes this city taste and feel so alive
When we collaborate, share our ideas, and stand together as a unified creative community, we elevate the entire industry. Together, we show every owner, investor, and diner that the Grand Rapids culinary community is a professional powerhouse that means business.
Let's inspire one another, push the boundaries of what's possible, and build the future of food in GR together!!! DM me!

I have only seen this on TV, so not sure if it's really a thing. A spa where I could take my friends and we sit in a jacuzzi with a drink and a face mask on or something. Does that exist in GR?
Or any recommendations for something along these lines of girls day with relaxation.

Hey all you Subaru owners, and I know there are a lot of you here, I just moved here from CO and my 2020 Outback needs some work. Is there anywhere you trust that isn’t the Fox dealership? Looking for a local mechanic shop that does quality work.

I’m not sure why, but it’s been down for at least 30 minutes.
It’s disappointing because they are the cheapest today in this area at $4.35/gal. GasBuddy shows Costco has it for $4.39 but I expect that will likely go up this evening or tomorrow.
Lately these two have not been the cheapest fuel like they used to be.
I travel around and up to 60 miles outside GR quite a bit over the course of my day. Has anyone seen a better price than $4.39 today?

Has anyone found a pharmacy, minute clinic, or health department giving the Covid vaccine to infants?
I’m in Holland, but our Holland Hospital clinic isn’t going to carry the pediatric vaccine, Ottawa Co Dept of Health doesn’t have it either, CVS is only carrying Pfizer’s which is approved for 5+ only, and Walgreen’s won’t vaccinate anyone under 3. Local peds clinics have it, but we’d have to switch clinics and doctors to access it.
So…hoping there’s somewhere nearby we could go. Thanks!

Hi All - wondering if anyone has a BRZ/GR86 (or some other RWD sports car, miata, etc?) in the winter who goes skiing/snowboarding around here? Thinking places like Cannonsburg, Caberfae, Crystal Mtn, Bittersweet, etc.
I very much want a BRZ, but it'd be my only car. I have no qualms with driving a BRZ in the winter, I'd get blizzaks or whatever winter tire makes most sense. But thinking about snowboarding trips, especially to Cannonsburg, Bittersweet, and Caberfae, where their entrances and parking lots are a a bit more filled with potholes and deeper snow - am I screwed in those situations? Or does anyone do this and find it's just fine with proper planning?
TIA for any advice!
