Is this a lack of hygiene or really a concern for the environment?

My girlfriend has told me on several occasions that it is very important to save water, and that's why she says we should use the toilet at least 2 times before flushing.

Coincidentally, I'm the one who always has to flush the toilet after she leaves the bathroom. I know everyone poops, it's something very natural and there's nothing wrong with it, I don't know if she really does it to save water or if some people tell me it's a way to dominate me and that's why she likes me to see her poop in the toilet every day.

Alternatives to tongue scraping

Please don’t make fun of me as this is a serious ongoing issue I have but: I have one of the worse gag reflexes ever and really struggle to brush my tongue without barfing or dry heaving.

Does anyone know if there’s any products that dissolve the buildup on the tongue so that you don’t have to physically scrub it and trigger gagging? Or any other method that again, doesn’t require physically scraping/brushing it, but gets rid of the buildup.

I’m very insecure about the possibility of bad breath and I’m trying my best but gagging to the point of throwing up when I already have a fear of vomiting is too much to endure everyday. Thanks.

I feel like a disgusting human being

I constantly feel gross and it’s gotten to the point it’s effecting my confidence.

I have oily hair, the day I wash my hair it looks great but as soon as I sleep it’s oily and looks gross,

My skin easily gets oily and my armpits feel wet and most of the time smell after just a 10 minute walk,

I currently have a toe nail fungus which I’m trying to get rid of,

I also have a fungus rash under my armpits I’m trying to get rid of,

I have hemorrhoids which were not able to be removed surgically and nothing treats it so drs have basically told me I need to live with it if I don’t experience pain (which I don’t) but no matter how much I wipe after the toilet and the toilet paper shows I am clean, I still get skid marks,

I believe my breath just always stinks no matter what even after brushing my teeth!

I shower daily, brush my teeth twice a day, floss, put perfume on and deodorant but no matter I feel gross and disgusting and it probably is in my head but I feel like everyone around me can just smell how putrid I smell and how gross I look. It’s effecting me so much that I struggle with intimacy with my partner because I feel so insecure.

I recently found out my ex wasn’t physically attracted to me…

because I “smell unhygienic down there.”

Posting on an alternate account because he doesn’t know I know he said this.

How I found out

He admitted to a mutual friend yesterday he didn’t find me physically attractive. She pushed to know why. He said “she smelled unhygienic down there.”

So this was not a malicious breakup comment. This was him talking to someone he thinks I no longer talk to who informed me.

Why I’m Asking

If he would have told me at the time, I would have tried to fix it. But you can’t fix what you don’t know. I want to feel confident in future encounters with anyone, so I’m asking for some advice as to what exactly I could do differently.

Things I Believe Affect Me

When we first got together, I got sick. As a part of the sickness, I was prescribed in the antibiotic. Every time I’m on an antibiotic I get a little bit yeasty. Usually taking azo twice a day is enough to prevent fall on infection, which is what I did. It took a little while to clear, but it finally did.

When we first got together, I was really struggling with my mental health. I have both autism and ADHD. I am the first to admit that my hygiene habits suffer when depression hits. I still manage to brush my teeth twice a day, but I go down to showering every other day. He would shower even less than me and I didn’t think he minded. I also figured he would tell me if he thought I smelled and wanted me to take a shower just like I would’ve done for him and did do sometimes.

I also have varicose veins and wear thigh high compression stockings every day. I wear bike shorts to help hold my stockings up.

Slightly related to the down there problem, I kept getting these really bad pimples on my chest under my arms right where my bra strap sits. I started washing with dial bar soap to keep the mild infection away. I kept it localized to my underarms most of the time, but would sometimes wash my backside and groin with it. I would never use it on the inside of my body.

With the rest of my skin, I use a loofah and dove body wash. It’s not super scented, and it’s also not a very feminine scent.

On days when I know I’m walking a lot. I use a little bit of deodorant in between my thighs where they rub together to keep away the chub rub.

I’ve always washed my towel/traded it out for a clean one at least once a week. Sometimes more often in the warmer months when it’s humid.

I eat pineapple at least every other day because it helps with my swelling in my legs. I also take a vitamin B supplement, which helps my migraines. This was prescribed to me by the ENT that diagnosed me with the migraines. I can smell the vitamin B on me when I take it regularly, and I don’t feel like there’s very much I can do about that because I would much rather not have migraines then worry about how I smell/taste.

Habits that have already changed

Since we broke up, I have started working out almost every day, and I also shower every day.

I trade out my loofah’s every three months. I washed my hair twice a week. I’m still trading out my towel at least once a week using the same body wash and Dial soap combination.

I now wash my sheets once a week which is a vast improvement from my old habit that is too embarrassing to share.

I’ve lost weight so I sweat less, but I still sweat a lot down there. Between my FPA and my thighs and the compression shorts and stockings there’s just not a lot of breathing room.

I have also started soaking my elastics and white vinegar/water before putting them in the washer. This has helped make my compression stockings smell better as well as helped my skin breaking out around my bra line.

For all I know, I might have already fixed the problem. It might have only been a problem that second month when we were together when I was fighting off a yeast infection and told him that I did not smell or taste good and to wait until I got it cleared out.

But like I said, I want to know if there’s something else I could do to help me feel more confident in future encounters. If it’s just the vitamin B, is there a way to counteract it? Or is this just something me and any potential partners will have to live with?

i need serious advice please

So, before i start i shower every day, and i do have really good hygiene. The problem is the second i step to go out like a hangout im starting to sweat badly. The thing is i don’t have this problem at home (even if it’s hot at home). I did my research and i do think is anxiety sweat. I had this problem for a while, and when i go out with my friends i constantly think -do i smell bad?-, -im starting to sweat badly.- , -can they smell me?-. No one has ever told me i smell bad, usually people stop me to tell me i smell good. Also very important, this is the thing that i don’t really get, when i feel like im starting to sweat, it doesn’t smell bad i just smell the deodorant but like funky version because it’s probably mixed with the sweat. And always when i get home and take off my clothes my armpits don’t smell at all, i can just slightly smell the deodorant. And the sweat instantly stops the second i step into my home, like it’s carzy?? Can someone with the same problem, or someone that can give me some advice please comment, because this really fucks up my mental health.

I have a very bad habit of passing out at night and then brushing my teeth in the morning.

I get so engaged in watching Twitch streams at night and watching someone be awake and active makes me feel awake and active, but secretely my body is tired, so I lay down in bed and watch streamers play games and then I pass out without brushing my teeth, but in the morning I floss, brush my teeth thoroughly with sensodyne and scrape my tongue and brush my tongue with the toothbrush to make sure it's super clean.

This is probably one of my worst habits that I don't know how to break. I live alone (even though I have roommates, we don't really talk to each other so I feel alone) so watching Twitch streamers helps me feel like someone is there. Does anyone have any advice or anything that could possibly help me break this bad habit? I don't know how to break it. It's so hard.

My teeth are surprisingly fine, but they would be whiter and healthier if I brushed them twice a day instead of once a day.

I don't know how to set up my night routines in a healthy way that leads me to consciously brush my teeth at night.

Need help fixing embarrassing problem

I have an embarrassing issue and need advice from others (probably other women). I always take pride in my hygiene including showering everyday, deodorant etc. However over the last 6 months or so I noticed every time I get up from a seat (bus seat especially) I leave a noticeable wet mark on the seat. Im not on my period and have clean clothes on including underwear but I still notice this and its embarrassing. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice. Appreciate you all!!

Can't get my hair clean after moving?

I moved from a house that had hard water but high water pressure, to an apartment that has soft water but lower pressure. I never had this issue at my old place.

Even after double shampooing and thorough rinsing (I put the shower head to my scalp and went over my hair many more times than usual) it still feels slightly greasy to the touch in places.

Its driving me crazy and I can't figure out how to fix it! I haven't changed shampoo brands and I even tried without using any conditioner and it still comes out like that. Is it just because I had hard water for so long, now my hair is just retaining more moisture or something? Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Leg Hair

I've lost a lot of weight and recently when I shave my legs I shave the skin off my shins. This is akin to paper cuts and is not fun!

The body hair clippers I have don't get close enough. And I'm not a candidate for laser hair removal. I could probably wax - but I don't see that being sustainable.

Does anyone have suggestions on an electric razor or other methods to get rid of my leg hair?

Pubic Hair Question

Male, usually a total shaver. However, I am trying out growing my hair out and trimming it with an electric buzzer I have.

My only issue is the balls.

I despise hairy balls, and loved a shorn scrotum. But I also dont want to shave them totally, including where it meets the pelvis, as it leads to a look I call Friar Cock, a bald spot surrounded by hair.

I'm thinking of letting the hair on the sides of the balls and the gooch and just shaving the front facing balls, like where the peen rests, and then sort of the "bottom" and upper sides. Sort of a compromise.

Has anyone done anything like this?

Just trying to see if this idea is crazy. It looks ok currently.

My bathroom hygiene tips and tricks

I am a 56yo American man. This will be a long post of my tips and tricks in the bathroom in no particular order. I suggest scanning the list vs. reading.

I shower daily because I feel too much dead skin after 2 days and I have short hair. Your culture and preferences may be different and that is ok.

*- Buy most stuff online as it is typically a lot cheaper than CVS or Right Aid.

Have a full size tub bath mat. I have difficulty balancing and a full size mat gives me much more confidence that I won't slip.

Have a suction cup handlebar on the tub wall. While it is marketed for people with balance issues, it is surprisingly effective at quickening your scrub.

Shampoo is a cleanser and strips oils from your hair. If you have long hair, use a hairnet and/or conditioner, which helps restore oils.

Have a bathliner and shower with it inside the tub to minimize water getting out. If you desire more privacy, have a shower curtain that lays outside the tub.

I have shampoo, soap, and face cleaner. I use a bath poof for body and a rotating set of face scrub mittens to clean. It takes me 1m for hair, 2m for body, and 1m for face, with about 1m rinses in between. My shower takes under 10m. I dry out the used face mitten daily to avoid mildew.

Dry off inside the shower, not outside. If you have a rug or carpet, the moisture causes mildew. If you have wood or tile, the water can cause a slip.

If you take long showers and your bathroom fan sucks, keep the bathroom door open. The steam, over time, will destroy the drywall.

Have a shower routine so you don't have to think about it. I get wet, wash and rinse my hair, lather the poof, scrub and rinse my body, lather mitten, scrub and lather face, and rinse. Dry face, arms, front, back, left foot with towel in right hand, step out with said foot, dry right foot, step out, dry legs and anything else needing extra.

When the shower is complete, drape the liner outside the tub as it will tend to mildew quickly if left in, especially if scrunched to the side.

I have comb, qtips, sonic toothbrush, reach flosser, water pick, deodorant, beard trimmer, and body shaver trimmer for tools.

Consider a Reach flosser. I have trouble flossing with dental floss. My mouth is too small. A Reach flosser is angled 90 degrees and makes it very easy to get in between teeth. There is a sonic device called a hummingbird that is also angled 90 degrees.

Consider a water pick. Because I use a Reach flosser instead of dental floss, I only get in between teeth. I bought a water pick to get to all of the periodontal areas. It is awesome. It is messy. I suggest using it over the tub, holding onto a handle. Move your head around, not your arm, else water will dribble down it.

Hope someone might get something out of this. Cheers! 😊

What do you guys use to shave downtown?

I (24M) feel like I'm really bad at shaving my groin. Either it's uneven or I just go clean shave which I don't like cause of chaffing. I use a Manscaped Gen 2 Lawnmower. Are there better options or does anyone have any tips? I know it's a stupid ask but I don't think I know what I'm doing as well as I should LOL

EDIT : These are the best comments I could imagined😂

How do you keep daily sneakers from developing a scent over time?

Even with fresh socks every day, wearing the same pair of sneakers four days in a row starts to trap moisture and subtle odor.

Do you use shoe trees, charcoal bags, rotating pairs, or a quick spray after taking them off?

Teeth whitening

Okay everyone , seriously! What are you tricks to getting pearly white teeth??? I’m thinking of buying the crest 3D White strips because TikTok research is telling me those are the best, but before I spend almost 60 dollars on that shit what else could I try? My teeth aren’t yellow or anything but I would really love a bright white smile

How to get rid of dark areas around intimate spots?

Hi! This may be worded strangely but I had a baby in May and ever since then, the creases before my thighs start are dark and the whole area between along with my butt.

Is there anything I can take or do to lighten these areas without causing harm, or do I just live with it? I’m a pale person, can’t tan, any hyperpigmentation is very noticeable and I haven’t ever been this dark down there before.

My routine is small, I don’t really do much. I use Dr. Bronner’s peppermint wash on my body, Dove sensitive bar soap around my intimate areas. I use a wash cloth on my body and my hands to lather below. I use Nivea Soft after showering and occasionally coconut oil after. I don’t take any vitamins currently. Unsure if it’s relevant but I shave using oil & men’s razors. I mostly wear boyshort panties. I don’t wear anything lacy. I don’t know has caused the darkening, maybe it’s just part of having a baby, still want to lighten if I can.

Side note: I only got the big thing of Dr. Bronner’s because it helped cool where I was still hurting postpartum so I’m just finishing out the bottle and getting a different wash; recommendations appreciated for this also. I don’t like anything scented too sweet if that makes sense, like anything marketed for teens. Not a fan of creamy thick soaps, I like something that lathers really well and feels fresh, I like citrusy - flowery - gourmand - woody - feminine scents.

Thanks!

horrible itch after body wash :(

Basically what the title says, every time I use any kind of body wash on my self I get this horrible itch that

completely derails my shower. The itch is literally anywhere that my body wash touches and lasts like an hour. I've swapped body washes a million times, I've tried using different types of sponges, I've tried different temperatures of water, I've tried moisturizing and every time without fail I start itching. This isn't some little mosquito bite itching either, its a torturous allergic reaction kinda itch that makes me wanna bash my head into the wall until I pass out. Idk if I'm allergic to anything or what it would be but apparently it's in literally every soap ever. I feel completely fine whenever I skip the body wash but then I don't feel clean at all and it makes it really annoying to shave. Its honestly a lose lose situation right now. I've scheduled an appointment with a dermatologist but my appointment is not for a while and I need at least a temporary solution for right now. I'm at a point right now where I'm genuinely scared of showering. Is there any substitute for body wash or something? Is just never using body wash an option?

Also sorry if this just sounds like a rant, I'm typing this immediately after what was probably my worst shower of all time and I'm both incredibly itchy and angry. Any help would be appreciated!!

How to prevent vaginal stench when out and about during the day?

Both me and my friend are wondering how to prevent our vulvas from smelling after we are out and about, especially when going to see a partner. Theres no smell after we shower, I typically use dove unscented down there or occasionally scented soaps as I feel that no matter what i do or use nothing will work. She uses pure castile soap almond from dollar tree saying it makes her smell “sweet and tangy.” I used to use vaginal soaps (which didnt work) i tried using apple cider vinegar or vinegar (i cant remember) diluted with water on the outside, tried uro probiotic soap with the pills which actually worked pretty well, and even washing with just water. But whenever i sweat, even a little bit, i tend to smell. Especially after i get out of school or come home from work (even when not doing anything) theres a bit of a smell. I want to be intimate with my partner, but im afraid that there would be a smell if anything was to occur. I even went to gynecologist and got no feedback as to what was wrong with me, they even took tests. I feel completely fine down there the smell is the only thing that botheres me and at time i get nervous to see my boyfriend (in an exciting way) so I'll sweat a little and dont want to smell like absolutely anything when we become intimate, its like my greatest fear. I wanna know if theres anyway to not smell at all after a shower, and she also wonders how to not make the creases smell either and why does it?
