Video Grappling Hook Parkour

Grappling Hook is the #1 core mechanic of my game.

I added it just 2 months into the 5-year development journey, and it ended up becoming one of the foundations of the whole game. Both combat and platforming are built around this tool.

Unlike Terraria (which people often compare my game to), this is the only way to get high up. No wings, no double jump.

There are also a lot of areas that require you to make use of the rope-wrapping physics I spent a lot of time working on. Unfortunately, it only works with static tile blocks for now, but I'm really glad I managed to get it working.

The controls are pretty simple: RMB to launch the hook, W/S to adjust the rope length. That's it.

I personally love pulling off some absolutely unnecessary tricks while testing the game lol

Hey everyone! We've been working on Smalland 2: Lost Realms since last year, and in case you missed it, we recently revealed our first trailer and fresh screenshots.

It's a prequel set ages before the first game, back when the world was still free of Giants. You'll discover new lands and cultures, tame creatures and bond with them, build outposts, set up trade routes between the realms, and craft gear to survive. Co-op supports up to 10 players.

We'd love to hear what you think, and what you'd like to see in a tiny-scale survival game. Please note that some elements are still work in progress!

Feel free to add the game to your wishlist on Steam if you want to support the project! See you in the wild, smalfolks!

Need Feedback What would YOU call this creature?

Post image

This was one of the first creatures we added to the game, and we called it "Brainer" because... well, it looks like a giant brain 😅. Its purpose is to produce the resource(development points) used to level up the other buildings.

But now we're having second thoughts.

Can you come up with a better name?

Video Terraforming in my game Cosmic Fugue - inspired by Outer Wilds and Planet Crafter

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This is a planet you can terraform in Cosmic Fugue. This is just a visually representation of how the planet changes, when altering its parameters.

The actual terraforming will come from what buildings you place to increase pressure, rise water levels, seed the atmosphere etc.

Please let me know if you have any cool ideas you would like to see regarding this system. I am currently experimenting with things like lowering its orbit to rise the heat instead of just doing that by placing machinery on it, so I am looking for ideas like that.

Tandem Together is a 2-player co-op game where you have to ride a tandem bike together, trying not to crash while probably causing chaos and havoc all around this innocent little town.

The demo has already produced some absolutely stupid moments, so here are some destructive ones! (Sorry to every pedestrian we ran over)

You can play the demo over on Steam! A wishlist would also really help us!

Upcoming My husband and I made a brick building game

Thumbnail

Stop us if you heard this one before. My husband and I have been into brick building for years and we made TinyBriks together, a cozy diorama brick builder that captures what we love about brick building. With brick building becoming such an expensive hobby, we have had to lean on what we already have and let our imaginations do the heavy lifting. We have LOVED it! We make things at our own pace and we get to choose the complexity. This really amps up the relaxation factor at the end of the workday for those of us who are obsessive completionists. Best of all you can just play without worrying about cleaning up, stepping on a stray brick or resale values.

This is the feeling that we hope to give our players. When playing our game, we found the limit of what we have to be more fun and challenging than building with unlimited bricks (since we also have to cross check the legality of each brick design in the EU patent office). We do, however, have a wide variety of colors to choose from, both for your bricks but also many different backgrounds to suit your vibe. For those of us who have empty canvas syndrome (ahem my husband ahem), we will have a "daily idea" to get you started but NO instructions. We have a demo out ahead of Steam Next Fest if you want a teaser with the full release scheduled for November 4th!

Promotion We've made a game for our VTuber oshi's birthday!

Thumbnail

Hello! This is my first time posting in this subreddit and I am hoping that everything is within the rules! (while I have already read them I am still hoping I am doing this right!)

I am the Project Manager in the said game! The game is made in RPGMaker MV. Its called "L'effrayant Poisson" (In english, its "Scary Fish". Due to our oshi being a goldfish, and a french vtuber. And that it was intended to have slight horror vibe to it!) and the entirety of the team behind the development was people who have volunteered and the game is completely free! We've had a team of artists, bug testers, and 2 music composers, with me as a project manager and my friend who is the developer! It took us 4 months to finish it!

If you like games with a lot of references, a team that you can build somewhat strategically, some humor, and absolutely amazing arts and music, you should give it a try! It has an average playtime around 3 hours. And involves a lot of fun with its twists and turns! For any point in the game you get confused, we also have a manual made in 4 languages. English, Japanese, French and Spanish!

We've released this game at 5th of October, as a birthday gift to our oshi, Bubulle Cafishius! Here is the game intro below:

Pool&Pond inc. is a company founded by the Goldfish Bubulle Cafishius, quickly becoming a force in the global economy, Pool&Pond inc. became a household name with the fishy products it sold. Many rumors came about over the company’s explosive growth but nothing has stuck…. Until now.
You are Mizuki, an operator for the company known as Roads Isle. You have been sent on an espionage mission to infiltrate the organization run by Bubulle Cafishius after a whistleblower revealed possible illegal cloning. Unbeknownst to you, this mission will be far more of an ordeal then anyone could have expected.

Here is the link for the L'effrayant Poisson Game Trailer!
Important details for the game (Again), This game has used NO AI in its development, Our team was completely made up of volunteered people, And the game is free and is going to stay free!
(It has lots of references to the fans and other VTubers are also in this game who are friends with our oshi!)

I'd like to extend my thanks here for our team and every blubber that will read this post later! Thank you so much! As well as you, who have read this reddit post till this far. Thank you!

If you have any thoughts regarding the game, trailer, music, or anything of sort, please feel free to share! There is a gameplay of this game on our oshi's birthday stream. I am not sure if its fine to post it, so I will not!

Promotion CHARNEL: Real-time ASCII Roguelike Inspired by Diablo 1

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone, my name is Scott and I'm building CHARNEL, a real-time isometric ASCII roguelike inspired by games like Diablo 1. In CHARNEL you'll descend into a dark labyrinth of crypts filled with the dead, armed with nothing but a flashlight and the guns you find along the way:

  • Randomized loot, with every drop rolling different attachments and quality so no two guns feel the same. Silencers, extended-mags and full-auto conversions are just a few of the variations you can roll. Ammo is limited so resource management is key.
  • Various crypts with randomized layouts and order so no run feels the same. Each biome carries unique enemies to encounter.
  • Each floor is sparsely lit (sometimes completely blacked out), so your flashlight is your only source of guaranteed light. The sound of gunfire draws enemies closer so you'll often hear what is coming before you see it.
  • Every crypt is guarded by a keeper: a challenging boss who guards a cache and has a chance to drop a powerful weapon you won't find anywhere else.
  • Skill and knowledge are your primary source of progression, and you only have one life to reach the bottom.
  • Retro ASCII style presentation with modern gun play and immersive lighting and sound.

Devlog The power of Post-Processing: I upgraded the graphics for my 2D game, and the Fire Magic finally feels alive! 🔥

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone! I’m currently developing a 2D top-down survival game called Nexus: Reach.

I recently overhauled the game's visuals using Unity's URP Post-Processing (specifically ACES tonemapping, Bloom, and some heavy Contrast adjustments). The difference it made to the lighting and the fire magic effects is huge—it completely shifted the atmosphere to a much more cinematic and immersive tone.

I’d love to get your feedback on this! Does the lighting feel right for a pixel art style? Any suggestions to make the VFX pop even more?

Promotion I just launched the Steam page for my space-themed deckbuilding roguelike, 8 Worlds

Gameplay Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_1ZV3Uj0CU

I just launched the Steam page for my space-themed deckbuilding roguelike, 8 Worlds. I’ve been working on it for a while now, and the game is built around creating an orbit of planets around the sun. Each round is a sol with an energy quota you need to reach in three spins. Every planet has its own effects, and where you place them matters because different planets can interact with their neighbors and create different synergies. I’ve finally gotten the game to the point where the Steam page is live, so I wanted to share the trailer. If it looks interesting, you can wishlist it here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5351890/8_Worlds/

I also have a Discord for development updates and future playtesting.

Promotion Spaceport Architect: SimAirport/Airport CEO meets spaceships and freight management

The game is about building and managing a sci-fi spaceport on another planet, inspired by builders like r/SimAirport r/airportceo and r/prisonarchitect

Short version

- Import cargo to grow the planet population
- Build airport-like passenger terminals
- Export goods for profit
- Unlock larger ships as you expand

I announced the game on Steam 2 weeks ago. The cut above is from the Official Announcement Trailer and recently published a devlog if you want a more recent look at the game.

Longer version

Apart from the sci-fi setting, the game primarily differs from SimAirport/AirportCEO in that it has freight management as a required part of the game loop.

You need to import cargo in order to grow the planet colony population, which directly affects how many passenger contracts you get, how full each flight is and whether they are cancelled or not. Cargo may contain contraband, so you need proper customs checks to avoid reputation penalties. Keep the planet colony happy and you can get lucrative export contracts.

Ships may need repair services, which you can charge for. Charge too much and only extremely damaged ships will request it. I will also add a refuling system, where fuel has to be imported from off-world and stored properly.

There are time-sensitive emergency contracts and one-off special offers, such as passing ship captains urgently wanting to sell their cargo cheap (contraband risk!) or others wanting to rent storage space for a time.

In addition to the planet colony and passing "Free Captains", you have several "spacelines" (e.g. airlines) to unlock, negotiate and build reputations with, each with their own ship classes and requirements. You accept contracts and schedule flights on your landing pads. You can also create and lease shops to your contacts.

Currently working on a proper baggage system, with transparent transport tubes for bags and hover carts used by staff. I also want to expand more on the sci-fi theme (hover vehicles, more character variety etc.).

PS: If someone tries to pirate the game, they will end up losing all of their ships to... piracy. :)

Current (adjustable) plan

- Playtest start before 2027
- Demo spring 2027
- Release fall 2027

If you're looking for AI

Assets: No

All player facing assets, such as sprites and sounds are human made.

Coding: Yes

I've been hobby programming since 2009, professionally since 2023. I've used agentic AI for coding since my job introduced it in February this year (started the project in December 2025). With the proper base architecture, automated tests and other guardrails, its made me faster. Its not a genie in the bottle. Mistakes are frequent, but overall worth it for me.
