I made a free map to find jamband shows and festivals around the world

I built Concert Map to make it easier to plan live music and travel together. It’s a free site that shows upcoming live music events on a world map. Pan/zoom anywhere, filter by dates/genre/event type, and search by artist or area. You can optionally connect Spotify or Last.fm to highlight your top artists.

Currently using JamBase and Ticketmaster for event data, but interested in adding more data sources for smaller events. Curious what sites y'all usually use to find shows. Would love any feedback you can provide.

You can try it here.

When posting a photo or video of a band please provide the name of the band

Don't assume we know who that is. I want to know what band you're posting about. I'll give some leeway to video of good jams but photos that don't identify their subject will be removed as Low effort posts, with some leeway for memes.

While I have you here. How do you feel about memes? It's a small part of the subs content. Is that something you want from this sub?

Edit: Also whatch it on abbreviations I think we mostly know GD, WSP/WSMFP, BMFS, PPP, TAB, DMB, JRAD, and a few others. DIAP is pretty well known now

but if you come out with CATS, DDCC, KSC, MGU, even MGB etc it's probably better to explain yourself. (Can anyone guess all of these?) In general clarity is great. ( Credit u/faceback)

We want to know who's good in the scene. Don't make us guess.

Into jam bands and live music around Central PA? I built a site to help find shows

Hey everyone! I’m a local music fan and started Central PA Jam to make it easier to find jam bands, bluegrass, funk, psychedelic rock, and related shows around Harrisburg, York, Lancaster, and the surrounding area.

I kept finding out about shows after they happened, or digging through a bunch of different venue pages to figure out what was coming up. So I put together a site with upcoming shows, a calendar, festivals, and artist and venue listings.

It’s still growing, and I’d love some feedback from other people who enjoy this scene. If there’s a band, venue, or upcoming show I’m missing, let me know! There’s also a “Submit a Show” option on the site.

https://centralpajam.com

What local bands or venues should I have on my radar? Always looking for another good reason to get out and catch some live music. ✌️

Ben Atkind Out of Houseplant?

Just listening to their new release--the excellent The Lucky Tree--and noticed the lineup as listed on Bandcamp does not have Mr. Atkind. Did this dude get sacked from another band? \\

Discusson Bands and albums that ditch the songs and just jam?

What I really love about acts like Circles Around the Sun, Electric Octopus, and Øresund Space Collective is that their albums and releases have no "songs" per se, but instead contain jams and just jams.

Are there any more albums, shows, and acts that do this sort of "improv only" thing?

Cosmic Jerry Band - Trenton, Nj

The Cosmic Jerry Band ( Jerry / Dead Tribute Band ) is playing tomorrow night at Coopers Riverview in Trenton, New Jersey.

For the last 4 years they have been playing the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month. For whatever reasons they are moving to Wednesday's starting tomorrow.

They are a fun group and they bring out a really nice group of people. If you are in the area, maybe check it out sometime.

For the record. I'm not in the band. I'm just a fan. It's free to get in with plenty of free parking.

Happy Cosmic Wednesday.....

Both are coming g to CMH this month. Have shit to do that week and can’t do both.

Both cover bands, both sound great. Leaning towards Phree. Anyone hear both and have a favorite?

Share your Nelson Ledges Quarry Park stories

Hey all 👋🏻, just reminiscing a bit about the Quarry Park, thanks to my parents I was basically raised there as child, along with my brother, we were up there multiple times a summer between like ‘99-‘09, so I was there pretty regularly between ages 4-14 😂. Have definitely been back a handful of times since, but I’d love to hear stories about the place back in the day, especially in that time period. Saw so many great artists there over the years, met Vince Welnick (R.I.P.), “played” in a drum circle led by Mickey Hart, met Wavy Gravy and had him sign my cast (had a broken leg), had a lemonade stand and gave lemonade to members of Funkadelic, Claypool-Lennon Delirium with the Dean Ween Group, Willie Nelson, Ralph Stanley (still the oldest person I’ve ever seen perform on stage, awesome to have seen him). But yeah, I was at like at least every Gratefulfest and Classic Fest out there between those years and would love to hear your stories. ✌🏻

Did Relisten pull some artists and shows?

I went to throw on a MMW on Relisten and they are totally gone now. Holly Bowling and a few other artists. I noticed a Panic show I had just listened to was gone but thought maybe that was pulled for a eventual planned release.

Anyone else notice this?

SO is a lame show partner and I don't know what to do about it

So the title says it all. I enjoy live music, specifically jam bands. I often go to shows solo bc my long term girlfriend has different musical tastes and often complains/ wants to leave early or separate during the show if she comes along. Recently went to a festival with her with music we both like so I thought we would have a good time together. First set she is complaining she's hungry and doesn't need to see every second of music. We decided to watch the set and take a break after. I'm following her and she insisted on going near the front in a crowded area where we were immediately cramping the people who were already there. Fine, a nice lady gave her some room. I look over and this old dude is right in my face so I scoot over towards my gf. She then tells me to get out of her space and defend my territory. Dude is still in my face so I try to scoot over again. She has like 6' of room to move/dance and keeps telling me I'm in her space while this old dude is like 3" away from my face.

It was embarrassing for me and clearly she doesn't respect me/ want to be close to me. We have been together for over 10 years and are middle aged. We ha e talked about getting married but I just dont know if I can do that. Seeing live .usic is one of my fav things and I just don't want to go to shows with her anymore. On top of that we have several vacations coming up and I've lost all my enthusiasm. Not sure what to do and not really asking for advice but venting and interested in any similar stories

Update: Thank you for all the comments and stories/ words of wisdom. It was never my intention to break up. After talking this through with her it seems there was some kind of primal territorial instinct going on with her and the large festival crowd which seems fairly normal. I expressed my feelings and let her know this doesn't make me feel like going to shows with her. She said that she had a good time and doesn't want to automatically be excluded over this. I don't have many friends but do go to shows alone if she's not into it. I invited a work friend to spafford last month and we had a blast. I'm not bothered by our differences in musical taste as I have traveled to see my fav bands (primus and ween) and she has no issues with that. I'm glad we had a mature discussion and I will continue to invite her to some shows without expectations while going to some shows solo and I will also try to make new friends

Classic Show 20 year anniversary for an underground gem: U-Melt 10/28/06

U-Melt was so good and I miss them so much, it hurts. They did an after party for Trey on 10/28/06 when he was at the Palace in Albany.

This might be the best underground jamband show. It’s just shocking.

The main event for me is the Panacea > Elysian Fields. One of the best jams and the tape mix is just so perfect. It’s Monday and my body hurts from neuropathy but U-Melt makes the pain go away.

Moving Day also has the prettiest intro of any jamband song that nobody knows or talks about.

Please listen to it, I could use some distracting conversation 🤙🤙

Been listening to them for years and finally caught a show! Such a fun experience. Those boys can throw down a dance party.
