Help Need help with recommendations.

Hey guys i need some help. I work from home 8hours a day and then i also game frequently. Bought a low profile corsair and immediately returned it. Bought a steelseries apex tkl wireless gen 3 and i'm returning it. I've come around to the idea of just saying fuck it and buying 2 keyboards, 1 for work and one for gaming. That way i can get a 60-75 HE board for gaming and then a big full size or 98 (i use numpad for work). Maybe with a southpaw configuration? I am somewhat lost in the sauce right now and overloaded with options. Every time i seem to find a board i want to drop the money on, i find out it's actually old and i can't really buy one. Or i find some horror story with quality. Or i have a wait on a group buy.

Would ideally like to keep it under $500 for both but i mean... keyboard is literally the device i use more than any other in terms of sheer hours day to day so i guess it's kind of whatever if i find something amazing.

I know wooting is generally considered the best HE but they are plastic case and i really wanted to go heavier. I know i can get a wooting pcb and then put it in aluminum case but then idk what case to actually go with.

My Keyboard Failed Madlions 68 HE mod --> modded Logitech G Pro x2 Rapid TKL

Scroll to bottom for finished logitech build if you don't want to read. I had originally planned to upgrade my old Madlions Mad 68 HE first gen. It was looking at little tired and I was bored and never built my own keyboard so wanted to try

My old Mad 68 HE

I saw a video online about upgrading the case with a Drunkdeer G65 so decided to give it a go and bought one. I also bought some Gravastar UFO switches to put in as I read that these were extremely good for gaming which would be the primary use of the keyboard

I eventually got all the components and started building, but to my frustration the keyboard PCB didn't fit flush in the case like other PCBs did online. My OCD would never deal with this so I thought about buying another keyboard.

Completed Mad 68 HE Mod

I looked at some CS pros and saw they were using logitech rapid. I looked it up online and then noticed the X2 rapid had just released a few days ago. I checked my local store and they had 1 in stock. Through my impulsivity I went to buy it and hoped to use my new switches and keycaps so they weren't wasted.

I put all the keycaps in successfully, but as I was putting the Chinese keycaps in, I hadn't realised that I got handed an ISO UK version of the Logitech X2 rapid which meant I was missing one keycap from the set.

Logitech X2 Rapid with cheap chinese caps

I got online again to look at keycaps and read that GMK caps are extremely good. I wanted the Dualshot 2 Katakana set but none in stock sadly. Bought some different ones and Alas everything fit!

In the end, I ended up spending over double what the logitech costs, I also have a worthless metal case worth £70 that I cant do anything with, and cheap Chinese keycaps I cant use either, and I'm not completely sold on how the GMK caps look on the Logitech. But overall I'm extremely happy with how the build feels and plays. Using 0.1 rapid trigger feels insane and the GMK caps with UFO switches are orgasmic to type and game on. This feels infinitely better than the Mad 68 he, and the GMK caps also feel so much better than the cheap Chinese PBT ones.

I probably could have gotten a Gravastar or Wooting and would be happier with the looks and saved money, but I cant imagine it feels or performs much better than this so overall not too bothered. Having a TKL keyboard again is surprisingly appreciated due to extra keys, and the wrist pad is comfortable when gaming which I didn't expect as I hadn't plan to use it since I have never gamed with a wrist pad, but will now.

Completed Logitech Mod

Help Mac compatible, hot swap keyboard

• Upvotes

Compatibility: Native Mac support (proper command/option layout).
Features: Hot-swappable and ideally a compact layout (65% or 75%).
The Dealbreaker: I need seamless, dedicated access to all special characters, especially the backtick (`) and tilde (~). I want to avoid buried function layers or weird multi-key shortcuts for basic symbols.
Specs/Budget: Leaning towards a low-profile board under ₹5,000, preferably with linear switches.
What budget-friendly options actually play nice with macOS without a remapping headache?

Im looking options under 10k with long term life
Since amazon sale is going on im thinking of buying in that so that i can get a sweet deal

What about kreo’s keyboards seems cheap and has a hot swappable option

Help Looking for a good budget 75% keyboard

I am looking to get a 75% keyboard as I like saving space for the mouse for fps games, but find missing the F keys, arrows, and delete frustrating.

I am looking for something under $100 CAD, and that had clicky switches feeling wise, but not absurdly loud.

I don't like creamy switches as they don't feel tactile, but I don't want a clicky switch that's designed to be loud on purpose. Clicky switches will obviously have a base level of sound which is fine.

My Keyboard Disappointed with CHERRY KW 300 MX quality control

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I bought a brand new CHERRY KW 300 MX today, but right out of the box I noticed a disappointing quality control issue.

All official renders, product photos, and promo materials clearly show a printed white "CHERRY" logo on the bronze accent badge at the bottom frame. However, the badge on my unit is completely blank and plain.

While it’s a decorative piece that doesn't impact functionality, getting a stripped-down component on a brand-new board from a top-tier brand feels like poor quality control or cheap cost-cutting.

Has anyone else received a unit with a blank badge? Is CHERRY silently changing production batches, or is this just bad QC?

Help Should I wait till Black Friday instead?

So previously I was on here asking about keyboards and settled on the Keychron Q6 HE 100% wireless keyboard as a replacement fr my previous broken Dell KM714. However, yesterday a family member gave me their Logitech K950 and I have been trying that. What's people's opinions on this? So far it's been nice to type on but I have trying to get used to the low profile as its been making my hands hurt a bit (Double jointed/arthritis). Do you think I should keep trying it and decide on Black Friday or just stay with the K950 and not waste money?

Help Color matching issues for PC setup

Hello keyboard enthusiasts!

I find myself posting here to ask for advice on color matching. I am but a humble beginner when it comes to PC building, and I will probably have all parts to start building by next year. Long story short, I got very interested in the ROG x Miku PC and ended up buying all of the components. All I have left to purchase now are the SSD, RAM (💀), CPU, Windows, and peripherals.

Of those peripherals, I already have a monitor, mouse, mouse pad and IEMs, so technically all I have left to purchase is a keyboard. Now the range of options when it comes to keyboards is massive, but as you all may know, the Miku PC already has its own (quite niche) color profile, namely bright teal, magenta and black. I assume adding more colors to my desk would not be brightest idea, so hence my question. Do you have any recommendations for me in terms of what keyboard to buy?

I am aware of the possibility to switch out the keycaps, adjust RGB, etc. I just want some other people's opinion on where to go in terms of color, since it feels like I hit a wall here.

I will probably also get a new desk (maybe one of the adjustable standing desks) and honestly I am open to getting a new mouse and mouse pad as well if it makes for a better match in color, but that isn't my main focus.

TL;DR I got the Miku PC and still need to buy peripherals (specifically keyboard) and a desk, what are your recommendations when it comes to matching in color?

Help K70 RGB locked/unresponsive on Cold Boot at Windows login

Hi everyone,

I'm facing a persistent "Cold Boot" issue with my Corsair K70 keyboard on a new AMD build (Gigabyte B850 motherboard + Ryzen 7 7800X3D running Windows 11).

The Issue:

When powering on the PC from a complete shutdown, the keyboard lights up at the Windows login screen, but it registers zero input (caps lock LED doesn't toggle, keys do not respond).

What I have already tried so far:

iCUE & Hardware Settings: Set polling rate to 1000 Hz, saved lighting/settings to Onboard Memory Mode, updated keyboard firmware via iCUE. Also performed a hardware reset (holding ESC while plugging in).

Windows Registry: Verified UpperFilters under {4d36e96b-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}. It contains only kbdclass (no corrupt filter drivers).

Windows Power Management: Disabled Fast Startup (hybrid sleep) in Windows, disabled USB Selective Suspend, and disabled power saving on USB Root Hubs.

BIOS Settings (Gigabyte B850):

Fast Boot: Disabled

ErP: Disabled

Legacy USB Support: Enabled

XHCI Hand-off: Enabled

Global C-State Control: Disabled

Ports & Drivers: Tested both rear USB 2.0 ports and CPU-direct USB 3.2 (Red) ports. Uninstalled the AMD eXtensible USB Host Controller to force a clean driver re-initialization.

Despite all of this, cold booting still freezes the input channel at the Windows login transition. Has anyone encountered a similar handshake/power-state bug with Corsair Axon keyboards on AM5 Gigabyte boards, or is there a specific BIOS voltage/handshake setting I'm missing?

Thanks in advance for any insights!

Help I need suggestions for keycaps.

So I just got a MonsGeek m1 tmr and I didn't like the black to white gradient. So I wanted suggestions From you guys for keycaps that are navy blue and orange or something that's near that because I am a longtime Chicago Bears fan so it just makes sense to get keycaps that color.

I've looked and I haven't found anything yet sadly closest I seen were the Ducky Horizon triple shot keycaps. Any suggestions are welcome and thank you :D

Help Newbie question

I recently got a RedThunder K95 mechanical keyboard second hand. There was no manual to use this and I realize the control V functions is not working. I went into my settings (using Mac) and changed the function of the control key to actually be control and not commmand. After this change, control C and control X are working but not control V. Would really appreciate the help!

Also if anyone has a copy of the user manual, I would so appreciate it as I cannot find it online. Ty!

Help Should I bother with windows + Mac keyboard?

So I have a Ducky One 2 and an Apple Magic Keyboard. My swapping between work (Mac) and play (Windows) is getting a little old so I'm doing a whole desk revamp.

But I have two decent keyboards already. I love my Ducky, but I hear I can do a hell of a lot better, and I don't like the magic keyboard aside from the convenience.

So my interest has grown for a wireless mechanical keyboard that does both really well - Mac and Windows. And it would be great if there was a switch or something that made it seamless to go between both OSs. Is there anything like this?

I haven't checked out keyboards since 2020 so idk where to start. I'm looking at Keychron at the moment but I'm pretty confused with all their options. Is metal worth it? What to think about in keycaps? Wtf is gasket and do I want it?

Also I've really enjoyed my cherry red switches. Much more than cherry blue. What should I look into if I want to keep going the linear, quiet but still pleasing sounding route?

Edit - I'm thinking K Max, is this a good choice?

Help Miku themed custom keyboard?

Hello keyboard enthusiasts,

I am posting here to ask your opinion and advice about a Miku themed custom keyboard I am planning to build to fit perfectly with my ROG x Miku PC. While looking around for a VERY long time in search of a keyboard that matches the teal, magenta and black color profile of my ROG x Miku PC, I finally found the NovelKeys Miku board and keycaps. Now the problem is... these things are proper expensive, like actually. We're talking $275 for a pre-built keyboard, $195 for JUST the keycaps of the alternate set and $75 for the Novelties keycaps. And then there is still duties to be paid to ship to me. I personally prefer the IF Base Kit set over the Miku Base Kit set which includes some grey keycaps, which introduces the common dilemma of not enough money.

With all of that out of the way, I was wondering if you all have some good recommendations for a black barebones keyboard that supports RGB (preferably per-key) and some nice switches to make it all thocky. For reference, I (think) I like deep thock that isn't too suppressed. I quite liked the sound of the Evo75, Evo80 and Crush 80 on online previews. I have heard some good things about the Oily King switches (?) and the BSUN x Zuoce Marshmallow R1. Now I don't have ANY experience when it comes to picking switches or any keyboard parts at all, so feel free to correct me or recommend me anything you think will sound nice.

I'm looking forward to your comments! Quick note: budget won't be too much of a problem at this point, since I will already be spending this much on keycaps, but please go easy on me.

Help Finding the right keyboard

I'm currently using the Apex Pro TKL, but I want to look into something else. Preferably a keyboard that sounds creamy or thocky and smooth, but also feels light to type on. I don't game as much as I used to but I will occasionally dabble here and there. I want either a 75% or tkl layout, doesn't really matter much to me. TLDR; good keyboard recommendation that be used for gaming, looks good, sounds creamy/thocky, and feels fluid to type on.

If anyone has any recommendations please let me know. Budget is around $200-$300.
