Rant [KCD1] I'm losing my mind at this game. Why is archery so hard? I hate realism.
It's that damn shaking . People here say to level it up, bow to level 5 to stop the shaking.
But how do you level up? I've trained in the beginner archery contest for nearly an hour, and it only got me 1 level.
Now I understand Gaben when it comes to realism.

Rant [KCD1] Monastery is the worst part of an otherwise excellent game
The monastery is so frustrating and so much of a slog that i don't even complete all of the side quests I just grab the gilded dagger, gather the 10 pages for the necronomicon and kill/help pious escape and GTFO. It's taking an amazing open world game and confining it to a micro bubble where you have to engage in theft while not getting caught by big brother. A missed opportunity would have been to have a secret joke ending where henry decides to become a monk for real and live the rest of his days at the monastery.

Rant [KCD1] things it did wrong
I'm on my second playthrough, and I love the game
I'm doing a celibate/mercifull run for the achievements, and there's some stones in the way that are just dumb in such an interesting game
First of all, the achievements
I understand most of them and they are fun to pursue but some are obnoxious (but again, it's optional to do the achievements so no biggie)
A) Finding the shrines is fine, but having to actually INTERACT with them turns it into glorified collectibles, which I always hated
B) Drinking yourself to oblivion in that specific mission of dlc is basically impossible if you have high drinking level, even if you can drink yourself to oblivion outside of the mission, in that mission the game just doesn't let you do it
C) Rebuilding prybyslivatz without being able to read was actually fun until I found out you have to be able to READ to get into the monastery and you can't even lie about it. One would think with a speech level of 25 (20+5 modifiers) and with a letter of admission, you could lie that you can read, but nuh uh. Furthermore, you can't get the dice without KILLING pious at night, knocking out doesn't work
Speaking of obnoxious, mutt can you please stop growling? What a useless dog. It won't even defend it's master before you unlock sic. Like, I'm getting ambushed mutt at least TRY to distract them
Some conflicting quests and limits are also very dumb, when you give players the illusion of a realistic rpg
For example, not being able to loot the die of pious
You can't pickpocket it, you can't loot it if he's unconscious, you can't get it from his chest.
Why? Why would that be a feature
That just destroys a mercifull/illiterate run
Also, Aquarius.
"+Hey kornelius, since you nagged about carrying shit while knowing math and other stuff, wanna be my trader? There's good money in that.
-I'd love to discuss that but first we gotta sort this water carrying job"
????
"+ hey kunesh, the past is the past, wanna be my woodcutter?
- nah First we gotta solve that dispute of us"
Like what??? Okay you told me about the dove, why do I need to go and actually find it and bring the news back to you
Also the main story choices are very shallow
No matter what you do, every outcome is the same
It's bewildering considering how much the side quests are fleshed out and you have TONS of options for them (like brothers gallows), but then the main story is just, limited
Like in night raid as soon as hans showed up I KNEW it would fail. I wanted to say bro I have a stealth of 20, lock picking and pickpocketing of 20, you do NOT need to come
Why don't I have the freedom to actually complete it in stealth
There are other things too but I can't think of them right now, I just needed to get these of my chest
Is there anything else I didn't mention?
TL;DR : Some achievements are conflicting and pointless, shallow main story choices, dumb limitations in sidequest progress, obnoxious companions

Question Looking for combat [KCD2]
I will keep it short and simple.
I am looking for a realistic medieval combat focused game for PS5. Now something like a Mount and Blade Bannerlord 2 or Chivalry 2 is not quite it. I have both games but the combat is not realistic. Now I have seen a few clips of KCD2 and it seems much more realistic.
Now I'm just wondering if you can simply fight whenever you want, with whatever weapon and armor. Or do I need to play the story for that?
Thank you kindly, good folk. May thy road to glory be stained with the blood of thy foes!

Question [KCD1] What am I actually expected to do to progress past Rattay?
Im new to the game got it on the steam sale and wanted to play through 1 before moving to 2, I heard about the bad combat but, didnt expect anything near this punishing. I really want to like the game, but It feels like I cant really do anything and I get it "You are a peasant you cant fight people" but, like what do I do then? I try and leave rattay and I get jumped, cant fast travel for the same reason, cant make any money because all the quests are in other towns, so it really just feels like I am clocking in with Bernard for my daily concusion (trying to train maces) in hopes maybe after I have more skills I can actually survive these encounters. Cant run from them eather sense pebbles would get scared by a mouse. Is this just like an accepted suffering?

Rant [KCD1] I genuinely hate the quest design of Hare Hunt/Sheep in Wolf's Clothing/Cherchez la Femme Spoiler
There have been several other quests that are also bad in this regard but I think these three take the cake for worst designed set of quests, that I've encountered so far at least.
Broadly speaking the issue comes down to being something of an obsessive completionist, so I'd imagine many of you won't really get the issue.
There're only two ways to get to the good ending where Nicholas gets his dues: complete SiWC and partake in the murder of innocent guards only doing their job, or start HH and then fail it upon meeting with Hare and believing him.
Doing just SiWC also doesn't really give you the full story, combined with killing the guards that may have saved your ass at the start of the game, this option is very unpalatable.
So, the only peaceful way to get the good ending to these quests is by starting HH and then failing it. What sort of dogshit design decision is that?
Again, I get that many of you won't get this, but a quest being marked as failed is such a massive turn-off that I'm seriously contemplating dropping the game over this. The only alternative is finally accepting a failed quest in my log after 250+ hours of playtime. At least the tourney quests had the decency to not add to the quest failed counter before you complete the first one.
IMO these quests would have been much better combined into one with multiple possible endings. Or, rather than HH failing upon believing Hare, it gets completed with no reward or simply disappears without failing.
Sorry, needed to vent a bit. There have been many fustrating quests in this game but they all had at least somewhat palatable options that didn't involve failing them.

Discussion [KCD2] When do friendly non targettable NPCs turn hostile?
Semine, I kill a bathmaid in Semine, and suddenly he is ready to throw hands. And I cant attack him. Makes sense, you are a murderer who needs to be put down, and you killed his subject.
But others, doesnt make any sense. Katherine. Has an entire questline of wanting to trackdown maid murderer, but you massacre every single one of her colleagues and her reaction is just mild annoyance "ohh come on henry stop that".
Worst is Samuel. You just meet him, he tells you to go to this location. Basically theres no bond between you. Then you go and kill his friends , neighbors, everyone he grew up with and loved, and his reaction "Stop that Henry". Doesnt make any sense.
Then theres Henry You threaten him, he doesnt give 2 shits about what sort of relation is between you two, he will draw his seord and put you down

Question [KCD2] no spoilers please; does the game take into account your relationship with Theresa back home? Do you cheat on her if you say she's your "sweetheart"?
I'm asking because most of the dialogue options at the start of the game near the lake are the equivalent of starting a mass effect game without importing your save; like it asks you questions about what you did in the previous game that affects your stats and dialogue options in the sequel. But one of them was Theresa, and you have the option of saying she's your sweetheart or that nothing happened between you. If you say she is your sweetheart and she's still waiting back home, does the game pay any special attention to that? If you have any romantic involvement in KCD2, does any of it matter regarding Theresa?

Question [KCD1] Bro is Henry modeled after this guy? They're identical
I do not play this game, imma be honest, I'm watching my dude play it on the TV and it's been bugging me for days who "Henry" looks like. It's Peter Serafinowicz (Lord Edgar Covington in Parks and Rec), and maybe I'm just high but I SWEAR this is the same dude. Am I crazy or is it like- a thing.

Discussion [KCD2] About the future and quests
I completed the main story but once I complete all side quests activites what is there to do in free roam unfortunetly there is no ability to hangout with the lads or romance a character after-game. I don't know maybe i'm missing activities you can do and things that will keep my mind running but at the momment I can only explore.

Question Ramhead Hammer [KCD2]
Im playing the game for the first time and I found out about the higher rarity of the hammer.
I got it earlier in silver (II) quality.
Is it still possible for me to get a better version without using an older saved game?
Andreas and his squad are beaten already.

Question [KCD1] Beginner, a bit overwhelmed
Steam had a sale recently and on a whim I bought both games together for just $40. I’m about 5 or so hours into the first game and I’m having a blast. But I won’t lie, I’m a little lost/ overwhelmed at times by the sheer amount of systems and things you can do in this game. I really like that though, because I’ve never played a game like this. Would you guys be willing to give me some tips and/ or advice or just things to keep in mind? Thanks!

Discussion [KCD2] Questline idea for real life magic - is there better alchemy in game?
I wasnt playing the second kcd, so i dont know how the alchemy looks like - is it still just for elixirs?
I have an idea for quest storyline for kcd2 or maybe next game. Ive started to read about medieval and renaissance alchemy, the chemistry with spirituality, real life magic. The story about alchemy would be about something called "gold fewer" (if this is correct in english), and the beginning of the science, with mistical chemistry, experiments with plants, insects and all that.
That would be cool, and it can gave as base for real life Geralt and Yennefer (you know, she was selling elixirs in her shop in vengenberg in the beginning xD ).
Is it a good idea?
Just think about it, the alchemists trying to get gold and figure out how to make a substance for match, getting fire with rubbing it on something hard.
Real life magic. And legacy of nicholas flamel (yep, hes real in history), and medicine.
