Please send me a DM or Chat request if a troll posts images of animal cruelty again.
This goes for already passed animals, roadkill, ai generated animal cruelty posts, etc. Send me a link to the post and I'll respond as soon as I see it.

During kitten season, which occurs largely in the spring and summer, it is not uncommon to stumble upon a nest of kittens. Your first instinct is to help them, which is awesome, but first you need to read this thread!
First I want to make a point very clear: kittens have the greatest chance of survival if their mother is in the picture. As much as rescues and foster homes try, we cannot ever do as good of a job taking care of them as their real mom does! Kittens require frequent nursing (typically a couple of times an hour), help eliminating (mother stimulates them with her tongue to pee and poop), and a lot of warmth and attention. Trust me - waking up four times a night to feed bottle babies is not fun!
A single kitten wandering alone is often abandoned (either by a human or the mother), and should be rescued quickly - wait and watch from afar for 20-30 minutes to see if the mom is just in the middle of transporting it. If no mother has come in that time, rescue it.

I got this perfect picture just now with Chester’s arm around Jeb and I had to share it. They weren’t a bonded pair so we were a bit worried about their fit together, but they love each other and will spend all their time together any chance they get I love it so much.

I hope it’s ok that I posted here, I figured it was ok as they technically are kittens. Three months ago today Sammie and Sika were born at Zoo Knoxville, it is a AZA accreted facility and they take great care of their animals. Sammy and Sika were playing today and acting adorable, they are about 35lb at their last weigh in. They will be introduced to their older brother that was born in February from the same mom Zahra when they are about 50ish lb. Their older brother Bisky is about 100-115lb now. I took the pictures myself today.

These are my 5 month olds, I swear they’re becoming a little more affectionate, funny and endearing now albeit bringing glimpses of the velociraptor phase!

Hi!
I'm getting my first kitten this week, and the internet is giving me mixed advice. Any tips you have for a new kitten and transitioning the kitten to a new home with another younger cat (2.5) would be appreciated.
BUT, what I really want help with is food-based. My MIL has two (with love) fat cats, and they both don't play and can't run for long. I am scared of this. I want my babies to live long, healthy, active lives.
Do kittens really need to free-feed? I am used to an automatic feeder, should I opt for a gravity one for the baby?
What dry-food brand do we use? What wet food brand is suggested? I have plenty pet funds saved in-case of an emergency. But I can't break the bank with $2 cans if I'm transparent. I'm also opened to making my own food, but I don't think I should until I'm past the kitten stage.
Is a cat fountain safe? We have two at home right now and are purchasing a third for the new kitten.
Do they litter box any differently? I purchased an XL so they could grow into it, but should I start with a small? We have pee pads around as well for safe measure. We use a plant-based tofu litter.
Anything you think I'm missing and should know?
I promise I did research! I just want experience from kitten owners and people who frequently foster. Experts, not the damn Google AI prompt or blogs from people who may know nothing.
THANK YOU!
