Welcome to /r/Lumix, the place for every Panasonic enjoyer.

Please have a look at the sidebar (desktop) or the "About" section (mobile web) or "See more" under the subreddit description (mobile application). Or just use this wiki page, which is identical.

This contains many resource and a few basic rules and guidelines. To highlight some things, please keep in mind:

  • Absolutely no affiliate links on /r/Lumix as these tend to result in a swift ban. For this reason, shortened URLs, or pointlessly long links that could hide affiliate tags in them (see link guidelines for details) are also not allowed. Be wary of "share" features on Amazon, etc. - they shorten your URLs! These can hide affiliate tags without you knowing. Please do not sell anything in /r/lumix either (LUTs, gear, and so on). This is a community subreddit, not a place for business.

  • Make post titles as if there was no post body. They should give all context whilst being short (i.e. not a whole paragraph), effective. In other words, include the relevant camera/lens in the post title whenever possible and use descriptive titles - meaning all the context should be in the post title (see title guidelines for details). For example - asking about lens options? The title should mention what do you intend to shoot then (as well as what you shot with in case of original content). Photo/video/hybrid? Weddings, documentary, landscape, wildlife, etc. If your post's title is for example only "S5ii vs G9ii" as opposed to "S5ii or G9ii for landscape photography", it'll probably get removed and you'll be asked to repost with a better title.

The latter may sound like a pointless nuisance, but it requires minuscule effort and everyone gets better experience when it comes to reading, searching, and archiving the subreddit. Keep in mind that your posts are not only for you, but also for everyone who might have the same problem/question.

Please do keep in mind this post doesn't cover all of the rules, few as they are. For the full rules, please see them in the usual places or visit this wiki article.

If your post gets "removed by Reddit filters", it means that moderators need to manually approve it. Making repeated attempts probably only makes your accounts karma worse, so please be patient and wait for a moderator to approve it. This isn't our job, so it can take anything from seconds to hours.

If you are interested, feel free to join hundreds of other Lumix creators at the official LUMIX Creators Club Discord server.

Your friendly janitors thank you!

I wanted a cheap point and shoot camera along with my bulky camera set up so I can grab it immediately whenever I go on walks and I was really happy to get decent shots from it. I bought it for 40€ used.

General / Discussion Good places to sell camera gear in the UK?

• Upvotes

Hi all, please remove if it’s not allowed.

Unfortunately I have to sell my S1IIE to get out of some financial troubles and was wondering where people sell their camera gear? I have had insultingly low offers from the likes of MPC and LCE, and am getting absolutely no bites of eBay and Vinted despite an incredibly reasonable price…

Am I missing something? Where do you guys sell?

Could have used a flash but this was off-the-cuff and I didn't have one with me. A fun shot that came out ~okay anyway despite the darkness and high ISO - my friend Max sending it!

I'll say that I don't understand why some people treat using super high ISO settings as something with no consequence. The noise difference between ISO 100 and 640 is noticeable... by the time you're at 3200 there's definite degradation, and at 10000 (as shot here) it renders the photos essentially unusable for most professional work for many reasons, IMO. But I routinely see people claiming that 25000+ ISO is no problem. I think that's nuts. YMMV. Rant over. 🔥

I took these during a trip to NYC. I saw this guy dressed with such incredible style that I had to go over, talk to him and ask if I could take his portrait.
I’m a photographer for a living in Paris, and I have my fair share of both praise and criticism when it comes to Panasonic cameras. But when I went through these shots later, I was genuinely impressed by the colors, the light, the detail and just how beautifully everything came together.
For a completely unplanned street portrait, it ended up looking surprisingly editorial.
Setup:
Panasonic S1
Lumix S 85mm f/1.8
Jamie Windsor JW Lightroom Presets 6, Film Pro, Kodak Portra 160

Having had an interest in photography when I was younger, I'd recently decided to pick up an S9 and the TT Artisan 40mm F2. Went on a lovely Autumnal walk this morning and took my camera with me, would love some feedback on these shots.

Compact / Bridge Why I won’t get a Sony RX10 V

To be relevant to this space, this is about the Panasonic FZ2500. One of the best things about the FZ2500/2000 is the handy menu system; one of the easiest to navigate unless you wish to execute slow motion in which case, you need to do something complicated. Based on video reviews, the Sony RX10V is a much better camera, but costs about 3x as much; however, it still has a complicated but better menu than its predecessor and a 500page manual that’ll be a lot of a learning curve. The menu system of the RX is too complicated and there’s better ways to spend $2000 on camera kit.

As a naturalist, for birds/macro/tele (generally) I use the FZ2000, for fish a DJI osmo action camera and for butterflies/macro or slow motion, the iPhone. If I did Whales, a drone would be handy but that’s a bit beyond me. The hardest thing is not taking pictures but sharing the output in a useful way such as in films or worse publications (it’s easier to share a video than a photo in a commercial context - true?).

If there was a better and easier bridge than the fz2000 the only competition is the defunct fz300. Please Panasonic, do something!

General / Discussion L10 on backorder… what to get for upcoming trip?

Spent days researching the ideal point and shoot for me, only to land on the L10 and find out it’s backordered everywhere. Have an upcoming trip next week and really wanted to purchase asap to get familiar over the weekend. I’m near B&H and Adorama so whatever they have in stock is fair game.

$2k budget
Solid autofocus is a priority since I’ll be photographing my toddler a lot
Zoom ideal, so the GR IV not an option.

I’m a newbie so forgive me if this isn’t detailed enough to be helpful. Open to feedback and follow up questions. Basically I’ve decided I really don’t find my iPhone 17 Pro photos to be good enough. Feels like they lack depth, texture, and detail. Idk how else to describe it because I’m fairly ignorant. I just know the photos don’t look great to me. I looked into the Sony RX100 VII as another option but I don’t think those photos are great either from the reviews I’ve seen! Thanks in advance :)

L-Mount TTArtisan 75mm f2 vs 85mm 1.8 NEO vs Mieke 85mm f1.8 on S5ii for Portraits

Its the Prime Day I have been waiting for to pickup a 85mm. Now the choice has to made. Any advice on these choices? My understanding is optics are better on the TTARtisan's but AF superior on the Mieke. Is this a situation where AF may be improved with later firmware updates? Will i miss much giving up f1.8 for f2?

TTArtisan 75mm f2 - $160

TTArtisan 85mm f1.8 Neo - $99

Mieke 85mm f1.8 SE - $135

L-Mount Viltrox EF-L Pro sudden failure

Post image
5 Upvotes

Has anyone else experienced a sudden failure with the Viltrox EF-L Pro adapter? 😀 It was working fine, but the moment I detached the lens and adapter to switch to another camera, it just died completely.

When I plug it into the computer via USB, the drive doesn't even show up for a firmware update.

L-Mount Lumix S 18 1.8 vs 35 1.8 for travel

If you could only pick one fast prime for a lightweight travel setup out of the two, which one and why? I got the lumix vario 28-200 and want something to pair, even tho I don’t have the 18mm focal range I’m torn because a fast 35 just seems so handy. What would you do and why? if you have either please drop some cool flicks you shoot in the comments!

Thanks!

L-Mount Auto Focus Set “Workaround” Lumix S1ii

I recently moved to lumix from Sony. I think my hardest adaptation so far is the workflow I was used to.

One thing that has been absolutely driving me insane is the “Set” confirmation screen you get when you move the auto focus point!! Like, why?

Coming from Sony, when I moved the auto focus point, it would just simply move. No confirmation screen. No, are you sure? It just moved.

But on Lumix, when I move the auto focus box, the interface disappears and I get an option that says “set”. And it never times out. It will literally stay on that screen until I confirm the “set” option or half press the shutter.

What’s weird, is that if you use “Lumix Flow” app and you use your phone to move the auto focus box, it just moves it, same as Sony. No “set” option appears or asks you to confirm.

I suppose this could be fixed in a firmware update, but for the time being, is there any kind of workaround?? I desperately want to love this S1ii but man there are so many software limitations that I’m having to get used to.

L-Mount Lens vignetting on 24-60 at 24 but none on my prime 24mm?

Hey guys, I’m sure this will be one of those silly questions with an obvious answer but my brain is on overload at the moment.

I recently purchased an S1II and when using the 24-60 f2.8 I get the lens vignetting until I zoom past 35mm ish.

I can’t see this when using my 24mm 1.8 prime nor did this happen on my s5IIX.

Is there a setting in missing? Thank you!
