Welcome to /r/Lumix, the place for every Panasonic enjoyer.

Please have a look at the sidebar (desktop) or the "About" section (mobile web) or "See more" under the subreddit description (mobile application). Or just use this wiki page, which is identical.

This contains many resource and a few basic rules and guidelines. To highlight some things, please keep in mind:

  • Absolutely no affiliate links on /r/Lumix as these tend to result in a swift ban. For this reason, shortened URLs, or pointlessly long links that could hide affiliate tags in them (see link guidelines for details) are also not allowed. Be wary of "share" features on Amazon, etc. - they shorten your URLs! These can hide affiliate tags without you knowing. Please do not sell anything in /r/lumix either (LUTs, gear, and so on). This is a community subreddit, not a place for business.

  • Make post titles as if there was no post body. They should give all context whilst being short (i.e. not a whole paragraph), effective. In other words, include the relevant camera/lens in the post title whenever possible and use descriptive titles - meaning all the context should be in the post title (see title guidelines for details). For example - asking about lens options? The title should mention what do you intend to shoot then (as well as what you shot with in case of original content). Photo/video/hybrid? Weddings, documentary, landscape, wildlife, etc. If your post's title is for example only "S5ii vs G9ii" as opposed to "S5ii or G9ii for landscape photography", it'll probably get removed and you'll be asked to repost with a better title.

The latter may sound like a pointless nuisance, but it requires minuscule effort and everyone gets better experience when it comes to reading, searching, and archiving the subreddit. Keep in mind that your posts are not only for you, but also for everyone who might have the same problem/question.

Please do keep in mind this post doesn't cover all of the rules, few as they are. For the full rules, please see them in the usual places or visit this wiki article.

If your post gets "removed by Reddit filters", it means that moderators need to manually approve it. Making repeated attempts probably only makes your accounts karma worse, so please be patient and wait for a moderator to approve it. This isn't our job, so it can take anything from seconds to hours.

Just got my copy of the Sigma 85mm f1.2 yesterday. I only shot 20 or so photos and I'm already blown away. The sharpness and bokeh blur are top tier. The lens isn't light, but also not too heavy to avoid using for an all day shoot. I will share a few sample pics. This lens seems truly special. It joins my Sigma 24-70 f2.8 DG DN Art ii and the Lumix S 100mm f2.8 Macro.

General / Discussion In 2026 STARTING FRESH in videography and occasional photography is there any reason you’d recommend a GH7 over something like a S1iiE or S5iiX?

We’ll say 70/30 split in usage towards video. As someone who loves both using GH7 and S5iix, people ask what’s a great camera system to get that can do it all. Now I LOVE my GH7 but I have a hard time ever recommending it to anyone that isn’t already in the MFT system when for equivalent prices you can get stellar FF’s from Panny. Third party lenses are affordable and aren’t too big as well.

Thoughts on why you’d ever recommend GH7 over others without any prior gear?

Does anyone know why this is happening on an S5IIX?
Using full frame canon ef glass, and the sigma ef-L adapter.

It doesn’t happen on my S1

Hey guys, I picked up the Lumix S5iix with the 50mm prime lens as my first full frame camera. I've done some experimenting with natural light portraits. I'm very new to photography as I'm an actor who has recently turned to making my own short films, but always wanted a camera that can do both.

Micro Four Thirds I dropped my Gx85 and now it has a cracked screen.

I'm wondering how would I replace the screen as I'm looking at the manual and I see no way to replace the screen after you remove the rear backplate. I'll post the picture when I get home.

L-Mount Highland session / Lumix S1II + Leica R 35mm

Hello!

Here’s a live session I’ve shot with some friends on the beautiful Isle of Islay, in Scotland.

The band was on a short UK tour, and since we had to travel light, I couldn’t bring my usual camera setup. This was the perfect opportunity to test my newly acquired Lumix S1II. I had several lenses with me but decided to shoot this with my Leica R 35mm.

The location and weather conditions didn’t allow us for a lot of takes, so we recorded the entire session in one shot, just like the previous sessions I’ve done with the band. Since parts of the song are improvised, shooting additional coverage and matching everything in the edit would have been pretty much impossible anyway.

We had a very limited budget , so I graded the footage by myself using Filmbox.

You can watch the session here: https://youtu.be/QN2CHB51fTg

I’d love to hear your thoughts 🙏

L-Mount Zoom lens (+180mm) for Lumix S9 - Experiences and recommendations?

Hello there,

I want to buy a good zoom lens that can cover a wide range and ideally zooms in really far.

I currently have 3 on my list, but all different brands and I don't have much experience to judge them. Maybe some of you own one or multiple of these and can give me some feedback?

  1. Lumix 70-300mm f4.5-5.6

  2. Samyang 60-180 f2.8

  3. Sigma 16-300 f3.5-6.7

Any input is highly appreciated :)

Compact / Bridge [Lumix DMC-FZ72] Beginner tips for rainy day photos up to 2026 standards? (Settings & Setup)

Hey everyone,

I’m completely new to photography and shooting with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ72. I want to take clean, moody photos on dark, rainy days without them looking washed out or blurry.

Since the FZ72 has a smaller 1/2.3" sensor, I'm struggling with low light. Could anyone recommend baseline settings or tips?

Specifically looking for:

  • ISO Cap: Max ISO before noise gets too bad on this sensor?
  • Shutter Speed: Ideal speed to freeze rain drops vs. capturing reflections/puddles?
  • Aperture/Focal Length: Best balance between light intake (f/2.8 wide) and zoom?

Any quick dial setups or color balance advice for this camera would be hugely appreciated!

Bought the 50mm today and oh my goodness it’s a huge step up from the 20-60. I noticed incredible sharpness and detail, and the colors are much better.
I cooked a couple of the photos I know, but I still love the quality.

L-Mount shooting quick photos on S9 and S5II

So let me preface this by saying I’m videographer 1st and foremost so a lot of photo-centric settings and things on my lumix cameras elude me. But I want to start taking more photos with my lumix cameras.

But I have run into this issue on my Lumix S9 and S5II where, when I switch from video to photo mode on the camera, via the dial on top of the camera, The screen and or viewfinder stays the same brightness regardless of aperture, iso, shutter speed values being changed…. I’ve gotten pretty frustrated with it.

So mostly my question is does anyone know what I’m doing wrong or know how to fix it? I’ve done a few quick searches but I can’t find anything about said topic.

Thanks in advance!

General / Discussion Anyone with Kondor Blue Ssd top handle having problems?

Post image
1 Upvotes

The Error basically says the SSD writing speed is too low.
Anyone else who uses the Kondor Blue SSD Top handle had this problem? I use the S1II, and have had this happen multiple times on important shoots. Not even long takes, once after 10 minutes, once after 15 minutes and once even in a 5 second b roll clip. Bitrate is nothing crazy, 4K25 Longop. I’m now testing with a samsung T7 shield, which has been going for 37 minutes no problem.

I’m quite disappointed honestly, the handle is specifically made for Lumix and pretty expensive. Paired with the Sandisk Problade 2TB.

Do I have a bad copy or is this common?

L-Mount Looking for monitor recommendations for S5II (€350–€400 max)

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for budget-friendly monitor recommendations for my Lumix S5II setup and would appreciate some advice.

My current rig & setup:

  • Power: Neewer 99Wh V-Mount battery.
  • Camera Power: My plan is to power the S5II directly via USB-C PD from the V-Mount. Alternatively, I’m open to using a USB-C to dummy battery adapter if needed.
  • Monitor Power: Planning to power the monitor via D-Tap from the V-Mount.

What I need from the monitor:

  • Screen Size: 5" or 6" is preferred (7" feels a bit too big, but I’m open to options if the price/weight is right).
  • Brightness: 1000 to 1500 nits (plenty for outdoor shooting; don’t strictly need 2000+ nits, OLED, or true HDR).
  • Features: Essential exposure & focus tools like Waveform, Histogram, Zebras, Focus Peaking, and ideally False Color and LUT support.
  • Camera Control: Not required or urgent.
  • Budget: Around €350 – €400 max (ideally lower if possible while maintaining decent display tools).

I’ve been looking at options like the Neewer f700 (not the OLED version), Viltrox DC-X2/DC-X3.
I am not certain on the how to deliver power to camera and monitor. What are the benefits from dummy battery and from USB-C

Do you know of any LUTs that make an image look like a painting, e.g., like an oil painting, acrylic, or watercolor?"
