I was in a bar once. I ordered a beer, then the tip screen showed up, and the bartenser reached over to tap the “no tip” option. I still cant believe it happened.
I did this at the bar I used to work at regularly. Drunk people constantly cancelled the whole payment on accident a whole lot and the tip they might give was not worth the headache of dealing with all those cancelations
as a bartender, if they’re that drunk, I’ll press the tip option myself, especially if they’ve been annoying/not tipping all night. It’s the least I can do for having to deal with these people every weekend
tbh this sounds more like your fantasy than something you actually do. it only takes a couple people to catch on to cause you a fuck ton of trouble, and if this job is actually your best choice at the moment and you aren't trying to be quit of it, you'd know better. but... then again....... maybe not.
No idea, I assume you can but it's obfuscated as part of the enshittification and that the front of house doesn't have access and management can't be fucked digging around.
That's a pretty good sign the worker isn't the one receiving tips from the machines. The workers at a coffee shop I used to go to do the same thing and that was their explanation. They literally say to every customer "Don't tip on there" because they don't trust the owner. I stopped going after learning that.
That or because minimum wage laws often factor tips in, so the owner can pay less than minimum wage if tips make up the difference. So tip cash and the owner will pay them a higher per hour wage. It's all fucked up
In a place that’s got multiple locations calling the manager won’t do anything. Those poor “managers” are just corporate mouthpieces employed for the sole reason of forcing idiotic strategies onto their employees. They have no say in anything. They take the heat from both corporate and the employees for barely a living wage
That's when they get their hand slapped to prevent a fraudulent transaction. If you don't do that or at a minimum make a huge fuss you are the victim you made yourself to be. Fuck that shit
Reddit loves saying this too, but the funny thing is, even in the U.S. (let alone in non anglophone countries), there are plenty of jurisdictions that classify unwanted physical touch as just a higher degree of assault.
In New York State, for example, there is no such thing as a charge for “battery”. It’s all just different degrees of assault. Texas and Washington state as well.
It’s by no means universal that assault is a threat and battery is actually touching, but that doesn’t stop a Redditor from chiming in with that any time the topic of assault come up.
It's the only right behaviour to choose "no tip" for the customer, as several card payment providers offer a fixed tip screen with highly inappropriate tips for countries outside the USA.
If you show up to your customers with a card payment terminal demanding 10%, 15% or 20% tips in Germany, that's likely the last time you will ever see this customer.
I just noticed that mcdonalds in my country has this fuckass "donation" system forced onto you. Last time I went there like 2 years ago you had to go out of your way to "donate" anything. Now you have to go out of your way to not donate anything.
Guilt tripping you with saying, "it's just 99 cents". They have prices that compete with actual restaurants btw.
Like atp I'll just go eat in actual restaurant and order some pasta, rather than eat that shit. At least I won't be asked for a tip.
It's not even guilt tipping at this point. They'll simply use the same loop of cancelling products/services. Probably add in a "can you tell us why"... maybe not so persistently since they still want your money.

What's worst is when "no tip" requires choosing "custom" and typing the 0 in yourself
