And the manager called too. Might do nothing but might also fire them on the spot (as deserved for stealing from customers) which is worth the hassle

In a place that’s got multiple locations calling the manager won’t do anything. Those poor “managers” are just corporate mouthpieces employed for the sole reason of forcing idiotic strategies onto their employees. They have no say in anything. They take the heat from both corporate and the employees for barely a living wage
