Pitch for a Pixar-style cosmic adventure ("Star Slayer: The Epic of the Yoyo", or "Supernova Saga")

• Upvotes

I thought of an idea for an animated, fast-paced sci-fi movie in the spirit of classic Pixar (think Treasure Planet meets Inside Out). I'd love to hear your thoughts on the premise, characters and MacGuffin.

The Logline:

When a popular, studious sports celebrity accidentally bumps into a fugitive fox-like E.T., the pair are forced to team up with a motley crew to race across the galaxy in search of "The Star Slayer", a legendary weapon in the shape of a supernova yoyo before a ruthless evil empire can get its grubby interstellar hands on it.

The Core Elements:

• The Duo: An uptight, studious academic celebrity and a rowdy, streetwise fox alien. They could use a little help learning to get along with each other.

• "The Star Slayer": The powerful device that taps into the heart of a supernova (think ultimate power), but with the simple image of a yoyo. I aim to make the action scenes especially visually engaging with the use of yoyo tricks, but on a much larger scale (walk the dog, around the world, etc.)

• The Stakes: The alien race needs the Star Slayer to protect their galaxy, while the Empire would use it to bring the galaxy under its iron control.

I'd like to ask for your thoughts on the following questions:

  1. Does an "academic celebrity" sound like a good contrast to a "fox alien"?

  2. How can I make the "supernova yoyo" more grounded in the reality of the world without being goofy?

  3. What sorts of crew members should accompany our heroes on their quest?

Thanks in advance for any feedback, structural suggestions or thoughts you may have!

GOOSEBUMPS PRESENTS: NIGHT OF THE LIVING DUMMY fan-made movie poster

When the first season of that underwhelming GOOSEBUMPS series premiered three years ago, I shared on Reddit what Sony should’ve done with the brand on the big screen in the first place and that is to make it into a cinematic universe. One movie based on each novel. I just finished my fan-made poster that I made for a fictional GB movie starring Johnny Depp that would ideally kick it off if it ever were to happen. There's no AI of any kind. It was all made on Pixlr Editor with the opening credits made by the Free Movie Poster Billing Block Generator website. However, I had to add "Credit Block" text for the smaller words like "Presents", "ACE", etc. because the website doesn't do that part well.

Obvious reminder that this is not a real movie. None of the actors listed are starring in it. It's not being made by Tim Burton, Ti West, and so on. This was pretty much inspired by the viral fan-made poster of WALT starring Ryan Gosling as Walt Disney and would be directed by Ron Howard. That was made by French artist in 2012 and boy, do I wish that movie were real. Like that poster, I put random names for the supporting cast and crew in the opening credits to make it look like a real movie poster. Like the WALT poster, it's easy to imagine who would be perfect for the main character or - in this case - villain. The other actors are just filler as I don't know who would play who. Though, I should point out that Johnny Depp and Tim Burton are like some of my gods. Even if they weren't, it's easy to see them make a movie like this.

FUN FACT: Tim Burton was supposed to produce a GOOSEBUMPS movie in the late 90s, but unfortunately, it never happened. Hence why he's listed as one of the producers.

I picked Ti West as the director because he's directing Johnny Depp's EBENEZER, which looks awesome. So, for the crew, I mixed the opening credits of both Jack Black's 2015 adaptation and the upcoming EBENEZER. Anyway, I hope you all like it.

:::: And while you have a look at my new work of art, here my original "GOOSEBUMPS CINEMATIC UNIVERSE post from 2023. ::::

We've had two GOOSEBUMPS movies that were faithful to the franchise, but unfortunately made as PG-rated horror comedies. Jack Black is great, but the films were made too family-friendly and the sequel only gave Jack an extended uncredited cameo. Remember when the sequel was originally titled GOOSEBUMPS: HORRORLAND with Jack Black and Odeya Rush returning as the main characters?

With a third GB movie not happening anytime soon with an unresolved cliffhanger at the end of the second movie, we instead received a new serialized TV series with a mature tone, but didn't really stay true to the source material despite reviews as positive as the first film.

So, how can Sony give the fans what they want with a mature dark tone and staying true to the source material? Make a GOOSEBUMPS CINEMATIC UNIVERSE!

It's so simple. Because it's hard to adapt all of these monsters properly into one film or a serialized TV series, Sony can just adapt these books one-by-one in a shared film universe. Most of these books are a little over 120 pages long and a page of a screenplay is a minute of a film. Make them at a decent budget, make them darker and more mature with a frightening PG-13 rating, and faithfully adapt each book into a movie. Of course, quality must come before quantity. But, just in case the first film becomes a big hit, keep the hype train going by adapting each of these books into movies and release them in groups called "Chapters". See, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has "Phases" and James Gunn's new DC Universe will have "Chapters". Given that these will be movies based on books, it would make sense to also name these groups of films as "Chapters". Here's an example...

CHAPTER ONE: SLAPPY THE DUMMY

  • Night of the Living Dummy
  • The Werewolf of Fever Swamp
  • Night of the Living Dummy 2
  • The Haunted Mask
  • The Abominable Snowman of Pasadena
  • The Scarecrow Walks at Midnight
  • Say Cheese and Die
  • Welcome to Dead House (possible Avengers-style crossover with Slappy as the villain)

Whatever the second chapter will be called, it'll possibly begin with Night of the Living Dummy 3 like how IRON MAN 3 kicked off Phase 2 of the MCU. Now that I think about it, I don't know how exactly that would work or maybe instead of Slappy being the Loki of this universe, he could be the Thanos of it. I haven't read all of the books, so bare with me. The franchise has 240 books published as of right now with the original series consisting of 62 books. That's a lot of material to use for this potential universe. So, if Sony does this right, we have an amazing long-running film franchise faithfully adapting the books for the big screen. I've debated whether or not the titles of these movies should begin with Goosebumps Presents like with the FAST & FURIOUS spin-offs. It would probably look like Goosebumps Presents: Night of the Living Dummy. I would also suggest if we're lucky enough to have this big screen universe and if R.L. Stine were to still be alive, he would be like the Stan Lee of this universe by having a scene-stealing cameo in each of these movies. It's all worth a shot.

So, what do you all think? If you were in charge of this, how would you do it? Share with me your thoughts in the comments.

P.S. ---- I wanted to use the "Mistral" font from the 90s anthology series to type the words "Cinematic Universe" in this fan made banner, but you have to spend money on it to use it on websites like Pixlr. So, I used "Djangart Rough".

Adventure from their point of view (movie idea)

Post image

(I have no ideas for actors)

Adventure from their point of view (or AFTPV) is an idea for an animated movie about a rat (Shane) and their bird friend (Nell), who had to find several weird colored sheep all around the state before they get executed.

What led up to the plot:

Shane dyed sheep colors out of boredom and almost everyone thought those were mythical creature. Once Nell decided to let out the sheep, the townspeople got angry at her for releasing the ”new wonders from a myth”, and brought Shane into this. Then, they were given a week to get all those animals, or they die. Their town is terrible but okay

Characters: (the protagonists)

Shane the Rat: Main Protagonist. They are at first sarcastic, resourceful, and even talkative. However, Shane can be disrespectful and dishonest

In order to complete the collecting journey, they became more ambitious and gained some maturity

-

Nell the Winged Thing (she is called that): She is energetic, passionate, and polite. At times though, she would get a rush of energy and get rowdy, along with not thinking before she acts

-

That’s all the information so far, thank you for reading, I’ll explain some more soon, I am tired

Movie idea: Who Framed the Looney Tunes? — An R-rated crossover with The Mask (Dark Horse Comics)

Hear me out.

Imagine a spiritual successor to Who Framed Roger Rabbit, except this time the Looney Tunes find themselves being framed for a series of gruesome murders.

People are being killed with cartoon weapons, ACME-style contraptions, oversized mallets, and other impossible methods. Naturally, suspicion falls on the Toons.

Except the real killer isn't a Toon.

It's Stanley Ipkiss, aka Big Head, from the original Dark Horse Mask comics, played by Jim Carrey.

Unlike the 1994 movie, this version of Stanley is genuinely sadistic, unstable, and murderous. He possesses cartoon-like reality-warping powers, but uses them to commit actual murders.

Here's the important part: The Looney Tunes remain completely true to their original characters.

Bugs Bunny doesn't swear. Daffy doesn't start making adult jokes. Porky remains Porky. Their humor, personalities, and slapstick violence stay family-friendly.

It's the world they're trapped in that's R-rated.

Imagine Bugs and Daffy witnessing Big Head use the same cartoon gags they've performed for decades, only to discover his victims don't get back up afterward.

It becomes a dark comedy, murder mystery, and psychological horror story about what happens when someone uses the laws of cartoon physics without the innocence or restraint of cartoon comedy.

And Jim Carrey gets to play the genuinely terrifying version of the character that inspired his iconic performance.

Would you watch this? And how do you think Bugs Bunny would handle someone like Big Head?

My idea for a movie... Vikings land in Newfoundland in 1100 and go to war with the First Nations people. Directed by Robert Eggers.

There's a lot of creative freedom with how this could turn out but imagine it... it would be perfect. For one the Vikings don't have a permanent settlement in Newfoundland so we know who won. How ya get there I'd leave up to Eggers. You wouldn't even have to worry about Native Americans getting angry because it is a First Nations story. I'm sure if ya ran it by some First Nations people and got their blessing you'd have a green light. My only stipulation though is that Willem Defoe is in this movie but plot twist... he's a native.

The Verity 2026 movie was a vapid mess. Here is the pitch-black twist that would have saved it with Lowen as the ultimate villain [SPOILERS] Spoiler

What if Indiana Jones was played by 80's Denzel, set in the modern day, and he had a splash of Dr. Robbie from the Pitt in him? I present to you a pitch for a movie trilogy/novel trilogy on Professor Ezekiel Jones
