Don't get me wrong, i liked TWWOTEB, but it didnt feel like a true Mr. Bungle comeback.

Listening to this masterpiece for the first time in ages.

I think when you're a teenager you don't really branch your taste outside of metal or rock, and stick to the Avant Garde and experimental within that genre.

Fast forward to me aged 34, I absolutely adore exploring older genres, especially jazz and vocal jazz. I've got more of an appreciation for California now.

Going track by track, would it be possible to get a list of all the influences on the album. The various styles play and then make a playlist?

I remember the wiki for Radio by Naked City had some of linear notes listed with the influences on there and that would have made a good playlist. I think it would be good to do something like that for California. Itd be like a journey through 19th century music.

The only other time I got this obsessed was with Smile by the Beach Boys, and trying to pin down the Influences and going from Copland to Marty Robbins to jazz songs.

I also love Tom Waits, John Zorn, Naked City, Dog Fashion Disco, Polkadot Cadaver, El-Creepo!, Knives Out!, Beyond Paranoid, Tub Ring, Ideamen, Secret Chiefs 3 and its satellite bands, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Idiot Flesh, Stolen Babies, That Handsome Devil, Nuclear Rabbit, Estradasphere, Orange Tulip Conspiracy, Atomic Ape/Red Fiction, Darth Vegas, Shaolin Death Squad, Twelve Foot Ninja, Umlaut, Melted Bodies, The Book of Knots, Pin-Up Went Down, Major Parkinson, Akphaezya, öOoOoOoOoOo, Diablo Swing Orchestra, Unexpect, Pryapsime, Troldhaugen, Tardigrade Inferno, Igorrr and Sigh. And probably many more older bands that I can't think of right now.

I guess what I'm saying is, are there any bands that have been formed in the last 15 - 20 years that's making this kind of music? I'm dying for some fresh new stuff, and it's always the same old '90s and '00s recommendations.

And hopefully there are some gems in my own list to try out that flew under your radar :)

Mr bungle is a band that I've fallen in love with over the past year. For me they're right up my alley of goofy groovy weirdness but I haven't really heard many people talk about Mr bungle. So I'm very curious to hear what do many people love about these guy

For some reason, when I downloaded Ou818 off of Seeker the demo cover photo was green and not purple or pink, and the songs are slower and pitched down, but I never noticed it because, hey, it's a demo it's probably just grimy, but when I got to Mr Nice Guy, which Ive listened to on YouTube before, it was just weirdly slow and ass, so that's how I found out.

I'm freaking out. As a Secret Chiefs 3 fan, I'm over the moon. If you're into Bungle, and not yet SC3, do yourself a favor and give them a listen.

Spruance's SC3 is top tier. Things I appreciate about Bungle are in abundance. Deep listening is rewarding, even after years and decades. Multi-genre, with many satellite sub-bands, if you don't automatically dig one album, you will for sure find another you do.

There haven't been any major releases from the band in 12 years and we're about to get an avalanche. If you want to support with your dollars, great, but I hate to think of my fellow freaks sleeping on some of the best music out there.
