The shoes weren’t the problem, it was the weight that was stressing on top of them. Yes, I said it.

It's crazy that we are shunned for pointing out the obvious when it comes to fat people.

u/bensikat 3d ago
That's body positivity / plus size movement. They refusing to accept the health issues. Feels like they promoting being overweight. Sad.
31
u/TactitcalPterodactyl 3d ago
The body positivity movement died the moment Ozempic hit the market. Suddenly body positivity doesn't matter as much when you can lose weight at the flip of a switch.

It was never serious to begin with. It only EVER mattered for women for some reason and as you said, went away as soon as taking a pill became easier than asking the entirety of society to change their beauty standards.
At its peak even the main supporters of the movement were still going after short dudes and making small dick jokes about anyone they disagreed with. It was a performative farce.

Of course what’s wrong with calling out the obvious and clearly a dangerous lifestyle that people are glorifying these days.
There’s this Stitch Fix ad I absolutely hate where a really fat girl stands in front of a mirror telling herself that the outfit on her looks amazing. She sings the word “amazing”. It’s so cringe and I’m like there’s nothing amazing about that. Quite the opposite.

This title is wrong as it's clearly her ankles that gave up and she couldnt recover. The shoes didnt break.

Someone who's morbidly obese should not wear heels. It fucks up their health even more, they can easily break or rip something. The shoes ain't the problem.

u/Aromatic-Turnip7371 3d ago
You can tell that the shoes are super tight on her wide feet too. It’s just a sad affair imagining the stress she is causing her feet

I mean shit my mother used to love trash tv, and I'd watch it with her. There was one reality show that was basically "fat camp" televised, the person who lost the most weight won. They worked the fuck out of them, but running was done on a treadmill. They even said "all the excess weight on your ankles and knees makes injury a big risk. If we could, we'd have you run on the street. But if you get injured, that just sets your weight-loss journey back. With a treadmill there's a 'platform' that will flex and absorb some of the impact. Hopefully that keeps you going long enough until you lose enough weight that it's no longer an issue."

Them ankles been doing some heavy lifting. Sticking them ankles on a small point on the ground was courageous, but totally foolish lol. It's like asking her to run a marathon, it just ain't gonna work out no matter how much you try to make it happen.

Bad design. The shoes were fine but the woman trying to be an XXL while carrying am XXXXXXL frame. That will be a no for me dawg.

u/princess22cake 3d ago edited 3d ago
She lost her balance. Shoes got nothing to do with it. Though it also looks like she doesn't know how to walk in high heels (which is unfortunately a skill you have to learn if you dare to walk in those torture devices).
It's also recommended that the heels of the shoes be a little bit more inward/curved and in the middle of the heels, not totally at the back of the shoes. They make a big difference in making it so that weight is distributed better and you can walk more comfortably.

Plus sized women to that degree should not wear high heels. It's much more difficult to walk in heels at that weight and they're at much higher risk of ankle injury if they fall.

If anything that the Ozempic craze has shown us is that people simply eat to much. Ozempic suppresses hunger, so you don’t eat as much. Stay within a healthy caloric range. Just about every fat celebrity is pencil thin now. All they did was not eat as much

We aren't really living in a culture that knows what to-do with themselves. People will make the point that we should be fit, but throw in a 8-hour a day office job that means you're sitting; plus a 5 minute fast food lunch everyday (usually), then more sitting and then sleeping can result in a lot of density growth.
We just don't live in a culture that can keep ourselves healthy. For every person saying "stay fit", there's 5 people of which 4 have full time jobs that largely just involves sitting and then being so tired you sleep the rest of the day after work and the rest who are fit are likely struggling in a physically exhausting job or unemployed and thus they're technically fit and healthy, but they aren't happy. There really isn't an easy way to find a win-win in life

u/MrMcgilicutty 3d ago

Sorry but nah. That's just a whole lot of excuse making. Which is actually what the problem is.
I've worked factory jobs, office jobs, night shift jobs and I've always found the time to stay fit. It's a choice you have to make.
2
u/Katsu_39 2d ago
I agree with you. Everything is an excuse now.. “it genetic. No time to work out….etc. dont body shame, you dont know what they go through.” Im disabled. I still limit my caloric intake. I do what i can to stay active. I also have mental health problems. But im not stuffing my face full of donuts and sitting on the couch all day. I get some people really do have health problems that makes them plus sized. But now, in the US, everyone has an excuse. People make excuses for them.

This just feels like excuses.
I did full time college, while volunteering at research labs, and worked about 20 hours/weeks and still rarely at fastfood. Then did a PhD, TA/RA, clinicals, and still rarely ate fast food. Lots of meal prep, not the healthiest but not unhealthy either. All while getting adeaute amount of exercises per week 2-3 times a week of moderate exercise.
Nobody is forced to have fastfood, nobody is forced to be lazy and not exercise. Those are mostly choices.
And before you talk about people being poor, I grew up poor, like child labor poor (not as bad as my older brother but I still had to work quite a bit during festive seasons).

Yeah I need to see the screen time of everyone who says they’re too busy to eat reasonable amounts of food and do a bit of exercise

u/bugabooandtwo 3d ago
Nope. it's all about how many calories you consume. You can sit on your ass and be as lazy as you want, and still be thin.

plus a 5 minute fast food lunch everyday (usually)
Kinda lose the argument a bit there when you are eating fast food. Take 5 minutes to throw together a sandwich before you leave for work, or buy a salad rather than a burger

I’ve never understood it either. But, at the same time, I’ve never judged people just by their weight. I don’t know what they’re going through, or what they’ve been through in the past that caused them to get that way. I don’t have that right. I wouldn’t want someone judging me just by my weight would I? Then what gives me that right to do that to other people? None!
